It’s saturday so I headed out on another adventure. Today is was checking out Fort Yargo mountain bike trails with a few friends. We had blast and met some new people.
What's up guys it's Kevin. So today we're headed to Fort Yargo State Park to do some cycling.
Blue Blazer's mountain bike loop travels 12 miles around the park's perimeter and is best
suited for experienced riders. Yeah that's a big deal. Let's meet a few more local riders today.
What's your name? Amy. How long have you been riding? Six years or whatever. What's your name?
My name is Jada. All right um how long have you been riding? I've been riding I guess
technically 10 years but more consistently in the past.
The first trail starts off with a sweet little rock garden where it opens up right by the lake.
Come on, come on, come on.
You see what I mean? Yeah well now I'm in the wrong gear because I'm going from the
yeah I'm for sure in the wrong gear. I dropped the seat post and have to smash through all this now.
Damn you Ray.
Yeah being clipped in you can hop the bike around a bit too.
Come on now. Our tech hill will get the blood pumping as riders climb,
twist, and descend a beautiful hillside above the lake. One click.
Nice little flowy downhill.
Horseshoe drop. All of our bones are not broken yet. Everybody is safe and we're trying to see
who can get more than 16 inches above the ground. Horseshoe gap is where experienced
bikers can test their skills through a horseshoed double 10-foot drop through a drainage ditch.
Just a little bit better perspective. Let's hit that again and slow it down a bit.
My funometers got all the way maxed out on this one. I probably need to add some air to my shocks.
I didn't catch your name. I'm Kevin. I'm John man. John.
Yeah trails are nice and smooth.
Nice variance of obstacles and terrain. All natural looking stuff. So far the thing I really
enjoy about these trails is there's alternatives where you don't have to hit the jump but you can
make it a jump like this way. After all the climbing you're in the middle of some really
nice descents. No brakes. You are flying down the trail. Oh here we go.
Oh on the brakes on the brakes on the brakes turn. Oh another jump. An attempted one. Hey how's it
going? Really got a lot of trails. So in between the fun parts of climbs and descents a lot of
nice clean trails. Nothing sandy. A little bunch of jumping and dodging stuff. Overall a really
amazing trail system. What is nice to see? These are multi-use trails. You know lots of trail pups
out here. People walking and hiking. Everybody's dogs super polite. Everybody's being friendly.
Oh just hanging out man. Nice pup. As far as variety goes I don't think there's anything
out here that's per se mandatory or something that you can't at least try
to push or somebody to go on. So I'm really rating these trails pretty high.
And last but not least but the Monster Mile. A trail that I really could utilize all my suspension.
Go all out. Use my brakes as least as possible.
Oh so things that I really liked about this park were that you had options to bypass some of the
more difficult stuff if you wanted to. So if you're riding with somebody that doesn't
quite have the same skill set they can hit a bypass and you meet them where the bypass hooks
back in to the trail. And they're still having a good time. They get it. They don't want to you
know they don't want to push it. Maybe next time they will hit they won't hit the bypass they'll
actually hit the trail. And that was probably the most inviting thing about Yargo Park is that
you didn't have to hit the hard obstacles. More or less it was just a trail. Single track trail.
And any of the things that might have been difficult or intermediate always had a bypass.
So I think that's real nice. And to end the day get out there and go on some adventures.
