There are many ways to discover Mazatlán
Today we will do it in a fun way on a bus followed by a walking historical tour
Let's have fun
First to the right is Disco Valentinos one of the largest in Mazatlan
The most attractive feature of this impressive disc is that it is located on a beautiful natural rock
One interesting thing about the Mazatlán boardwalk is that it is the longest in the world
It is 13 miles long or about 21 kilometers
This is one of Mazatlan's exports fishing
On the other side we have a beautiful lady who represents all the beautiful women in Mazatlán
They all go to the islands early in the morning around 5 or 6 and fish a bit
They come back here open the fish clean them fillet them and sell them by the kilo
Here ahead we have a monument of the cycle of life
Because in Mazatlán you can see many dolphins early in the morning
This monument is 7 meters high and that boy has to jump one or one and a half meters forward
because everything is full of rocks and it's only one meter away
When it reaches the bottom it has to go back up because everything below is rocky
Luis I like your city
Thank you very much Welcome
Thank you for the tour Are you from here
I'm from here exactly
But you moved didn't you
Yes I did
And then you came back Why did you come back For my family
There are many beautiful statues along the boardwalk Which ones are your favorites
My favorite must be the circle of life
I think the harmony of the sculpture is unique
It's amazing because that's how Mazatlán is Life
always continues and you remain connected to your family
Wherever you go they will always be together
The bus tour was fun Now some art and history
I'll show you the museum
Welcome to Mazatlan This is the art museum and across the street is the archaeology museum
Let's go There's a lot of art to see
Welcome to my studio I am Glenn Rogers In addition
to my paintings and prints I offer some workshops
Screen printing is a type of printing in which you basically paint onto a piece of plexiglass
Now I'm in black and white but later you can add more colors more layers more information
Glenn it's obvious you're a driving force of change in the art here
Where do you think it's going I feel like this is about to blow up
I feel like something important is happening
Yes with the new galleries there has been some interest in art and artists
And more and more artists have emerged because they realize there are still many things to do here
In 1845 a girl was born in Mexico City
When he grew up he started singing and people said wow he has a beautiful voice
She traveled throughout Europe and became famous She was known as the Mexican nightingale
Julian Montiel was his manager for many years and thought well he has a fortune he still doesn't have children and it's better we get married
They held the ceremony in their room with some witnesses and when he was about to say "I do " he died
They thought yes if someone finds out we have to end this
Hey a person came behind the headboard and said "Do you accept this man "
It's a joke
Seriously Hey I'm not lying to you She said yes and he took everything
Sheila something tells me this is just a sample of your knowledge
Yes well I think you're right There's a lot to see and do here
When we get back to the next stop how is tequila made And we'll try some delicacies
Next Stop
There are many ways to get around in Mazatlan and my favorite is the most fun and intriguing one
These are open taxis called pulmonías They are everywhere very cheap and come in different shapes and sizes they are a lot of fun
Drivers are more than that they are historians and tour guides
They love to teach the history of Mazatlán and give you tips on what to do here
My advice is to negotiate the price before getting on the bus
It is also important to know whether they will pay in pesos or in dollars
The exchange rate is 13 pesos to a dollar and that is very important
And the best part of all enjoy the journey

Mazatlan has beautiful beaches restaurants it's an incredible city but outside of Mazatlan in Guanacoa you will find adventure
It's a pleasure to meet
you John I'm Jonathan Hello Jonathan
Welcome to Guanacoa I'll put the harness on you
Very good what a thrill
Lift one foot This will protect your brain just in case you need it What little is left of it
Yes Are you ready John I'm done
Jonathan I'll go ahead and say that the adventure began much earlier than when we arrived here
What a great trip wasn't it It
was fun And it's
just beginning so
Amazing
Are you ready for this John
I'm more than ready Are you sure
I'm ready yes
I know you've done this before but it's always different you understand
What's different is good
Okay
Okay
Will you manage with this
I'm sure
Very well Let's go
Now I'm going to lower you okay I'm going to connect this device called the figure 8
It's a different way to descend
Keep your legs away from the rope
Amazing
It was an excellent way to go down
And our adventure continues toward the tequila factory
Hello welcome My name is Daniel
And today you will learn a bit about the Osuna process
The traditional way
These are steamers
We fill them with 4 tons of agave
After cooking the agave is soft and sweet
This happens after cooking
It's a pineapple
We cook the pineapple and it's the natural agave sugar
We add nothing to it
The following is to extract the juice
We only want the juice
The pressing process is extracted
The oldest method we use here to extract the juice is a giant stone wheel
We remove all the sugar from the fiber
Then the juice goes to the fermentation area
Fermentation is the main process
Because here the yeast produces the alcohol
Here we have all the water
The alcohol vapor contains 60% alcohol
So now we reduce the alcohol content
Why do they do that It's not fair
No
It's a joke
If you want I'll give you 60%
If they sniff with the right side of their nose they will sense the wood
If they smell it on the left side the alcohol
What a smooth ride This is by
far my favorite Mexican adventure Zipline
open air and tequila
Where are we going Thank you
Health

And I have been able to manage it by working for people like you
who come to celebrate our food prepared by a great team like Mora
He is the president of the chefs' association here
I have attended Le Cordon Bleu and other prestigious cooking schools
Is that why Mazatlán is famous Its shrimp
This is why Mazatlán is famous
It is a type of shrimp called U5 or the giant blue shrimp of Mazatlán
About Mazatlan's food scene we have been able to eat in big restaurants
Topolo is one
Of course It's definitely a great place to eat
It's excellent The old part is excellent
Each restaurant is different You can feel the culture
Of course Mazatlán has been a port for more than 300 years
So there are many traditions in the center
There is a fusion of German French and Spanish elements
Now we are going to add a bit of maji-maji or gold
Then we added mole It's a sauce based on chocolate It's traditional in Mexico
I love it What a delicacy
He comes from central Mexico
What we do here is take recipes from all over the country and fuse them into a traditional meal from Mazatlan
It looks delicious doesn't it
It looks impressive How long do we have to wait
You are the guest We skipped the process
Tell me what is the grace period in your program
In reality there is no time although we do what we want Also you are the king
Do you remember And I'm the taster So I'm going to taste the shrimp
