Well, we finally made it to the Biltmore.
Yeah, what's the name of the people who owned it? Vanderbilt's. Vanderbilt's.
It's like big-time North Carolina history. Yeah, we can take pictures, but not for commercial use.
So if you're a youtuber
and your channel is monetized, you cannot monetize your video that you shoot at the Biltmore. Yeah.
Because you can't make money off of it.
Let's go check it out.
Here's a little tip.
So if you're exploring other parts of the of the grounds and you have your appointment to go tour the house,
you want to give yourself plenty of time.
Yeah.
Because the parking is a little confusing on how to get in and out of the parking and the parking is not super close to
the house. No. So it's a pretty good walk. It's a five to eight minute walk.
Yeah, so give yourself time. Don't like be pulling into the parking lot at the time of your tour. You ain't gonna make it.
All right, it's almost our turn to go into the house and do our tour finally. We had to kill a little bit of time.
But hopefully we get to show you a lot of the inside house, but we won't be
talking on camera.
Not really. Because we'll be wearing masks inside because it is
mandated that we wear masks inside. It's about an hour and a half, two hour tour.
So that's gonna be painful for us to be wearing masks for that long.
It's gonna be mostly b-roll pictures and stuff. So I hope you don't mind that.
Plenty of cool stuff to see.
This portion of the Biltmore is the Antler Hill...
What?
Antler Hill Village and Winery.
This portion of the Biltmore is brought to you by...
This is the Antler Hill Village and Winery. So there's a bunch of cool stuff out here. There's a winery. We did a little tasting.
Yeah, a little tipsy. Yeah.
Which, you're not a wine person. No, I'm not. But you tried. I did. I did. I gave it a good army try.
And there was one that was decent.
Yeah, tolerable.
So we bought a bottle. Made the tolerable list. Which is I think the first ever tolerable wine you've ever... It's the first bottle of wine
I've ever bought. Yeah.
For self-consumption. Yeah. We bought bottles of wine for people.
But um, yeah, there's great restaurants out here. There's some things that are closed. The shops are closed. The barn is up here.
There's a little
animal area. Barn.
So we're eating ice cream.
Should be cooler.
There's a couple things
we recommend you bring with you to the Biltmore.
Walking shoes. Lots of walking.
Nothing is conveniently close to each other. No.
If you have like handicapped people with you,
some of the paths are
are not very
handicapped accessible.
Not that it can't be done,
but it'd be difficult. Yeah.
Bring your camera because
everything is photogenic.
Beautiful stuff everywhere. Mm-hmm. And bring your wallet.
Because it ain't not cheap.
No, nothing is. How much was it again?
$64. $64 per person. Monday through Thursday is $64. Friday, Saturday, Sunday is $74.
It goes up ten bucks for weekends. So we're here on a Thursday.
$64 per person. Self-guided tour. Just the basic stuff.
Just to get in. But there's a lot to see. And
we're spending all day here. Yeah. Because there's so much to see.
So if you take into consideration
how much you see for that $64,
pretty good.
But
food's expensive. It's just like an amusement park. It's kind of like going to Disney. Yeah, I mean.
Or Universal. You're paying out to the wazoo for chicken strips and fries.
Yeah, three bucks for a bottle of water. Like, you know, $4 for a kid's scoop of ice cream.
So bring your wallet. Bring your camera. Bring your walking shoes.
Several movies were filmed out here. Yes.
Forrest Gump. Parts of that. Last of the Mohicans. Yeah. My Fellow Americans. Richie Rich.
A bunch that I don't know. I didn't recognize. But a bunch of movies were filmed out here. So that's pretty cool.
Yeah, interesting how certain
parts of movies. That you think is like in Alabama from Forrest Gump, but it's actually in North Carolina.
Yeah, it was interesting. Very cool. But today we are in historic downtown
Hendersonville. We just drove through it and it looks like a little cool.
Bears. Bears everywhere.
Bears is the theme. There are just a bunch of different bears with different paint schemes on them. Yeah.
I'm not sure what that's about. We'll probably ask somebody. Yeah.
But we'll show you some of the bears and we'll show you downtown Hendersonville.
And now we're at the Henderson
County
History Center
Lapidary. Mineral and Lapidary.
Mineral and Lapidary.
I don't even know what that means.
But we're gonna go look.
Let's go see what it is.
Okay.
Lapidaries.
Said that they were open.
They lie.
Website is not current.
So we can't show you minerals or lapidaries today.
Stop saying that.
I don't know what a lapidary is, but you can't see them.
Fossils.
Why'd they just say fossils?
I don't know. You got no good answer either.
If they were open, I'd ask them.
Let's go see some more bears. Okay.
Today we are at Jump Off Rock.
Yeah. This
is Jump Off Rock.
We're going to jump off the rock. No we're not.
But it's called Jump Off Rock because
well, legend has it
that a young Cherokee woman
learned that her
love of her life was killed in battle.
So she climbed
to the top of this here rock.
And swan dived.
And did a header.
She didn't limp away from that one. That's crazy. No.
Found by hunters later.
And they say that it's still a little farmed out here.
And at night, sometimes you can see
and hear her. Yeah.
So they say.
Through the wind of the pines.
There's some trails out here to hike.
It's beautiful out here.
It is gorgeous out here. Free to come out here.
There's three different trails.
None of them are super easy.
There's a couple that are short.
Don't take very long to get through. We went through part of one
trail and turned around because
Leslie's not equipped for hiking.
We didn't know there was hiking trails out here. No.
So we didn't have hiking gear. I was
equipped for apple orchard today.
Yeah, we were going to go to an apple orchard.
And all the apple orchards are closed. Not because of the
Rona, but because it's not season.
Yeah. For apples.
August is
when they're going to open.
But online it said they were open. I know.
So we went there. A lot of things said they were open
and aren't. They're not. Yeah.
They're not updating their website.
Yeah, and a lot of stuff
in Hendersonville, Asheville is still closed.
They're opening back up
Monday. Yeah. So we didn't get
to see a lot of stuff. Like indoor stuff.
No. Yeah, a lot of the museum stuff.
But just being in this area. This area
is a beautiful part of the country. Gorgeous. Yeah.
And there's lots of stuff
to do that the
Biltmore was just
insane. Insanely crazy.
And it's
just
just driving
through there. Yeah. I mean even if
you don't go see the house, people that have season
passes just go out there to run or bike or hike
or fish or
just drive through there. Picnic, whatever.
Takes a half hour to drive through the whole thing.
And it's scenic just to drive through there.
And they got the little, the village over there
and they got the barn over there. And the winery.
And it feels,
the way it feels to me is that
the house is like the palace
and just outside the house
is like the village
where the peasants live.
And so you kind of
like, we're like the
woodworking guy and the
blacksmith. And so you kind of expect
like when you walk into the little village for there to be
like a little, like a little kid there
with his little shoeshine
kit and stuff. And he runs up and like
shoeshine mister.
You know. That kind of feel.
Okay. I think that's
that's about it from Asheville and
Hendersonville. Yeah. I'm going to wrap it up.
Yeah. Yeah.
We're here for a couple more days but it's supposed to rain for a couple
more days and everything's closed so
not much more outdoor
stuff that we can get into.
But it's been really fun. Yeah.
We wish we could have showed you some video of inside the Biltmore
but hey, at least we got to
see some cool pictures. Yeah.
And like we do at the end of all of our videos
we're going to honor a fallen hero.
Appreciate you watching. We'll see you next time.
Bye.
