Troyes had a chance to end a 10-match winless run at home when they hosted Monaco on Sunday
at the Stade de l'Aube.
Legendary French forward Jusqu'Fontaine's memory honoured ahead of kick-off after the
great man passed away during the week.
His stack had slipped to 19th after losing a fifth successive match, but were coming
up against a Monaguesque side whose stunning run of form had come to a painful end with
a 3-0 loss at home in the Côte d'Azur derby with Nice.
Was the game hard to call for Monaco who started the stronger Alexander Golovkin with two decent
chances in quick succession?
Second, plenty of time, maybe had better options, strike off target.
The momentum would switch, Estac's first half chance coming to nothing, Andreas Bruce firing
over from just outside the box.
However, the breakthrough would follow, captain Adil Rami picking out Ramanique Kouame who
dribbled between two Monaguesque players, bought a little space and then from the edge
of the area, hammered the ball past Alexander Noubel.
The first goal of the season for the Ivorian, just the fourth of his career, you wouldn't
know that from the way he took the opener, accomplished goalscorer.
Nearly an immediate response from Monaco though, first a close call when Axel Idizazi was unable
to convert via a flick when totally unmarked, six yards out, and then even closer shortly
after, Kevin Verlonde shaving the post with Gautier Gallon routed to the spot.
So Toit with the advantage at the halfway point, looked to build that advantage after
the restart, 18-year-old Wilson Oliver's shot from the edge of the area, was well saved
by Noubel.
Then Monaco started to gain some momentum, Golovkin playing it in to Wissam Ben Yedda,
his shot just wide, there would be more chances to come for the captain.
Before that, it was Elliot Matazzo, putting a good diving save from Gallon, catching a
volley nicely, Gallon down quickly to his left.
And seconds later, the keeper just about doing enough to prevent an equaliser again, substitutes
Briel and Bolo slipping the ball through to Ben Yedda, lifted the ball over the outrushing
Gallon, but also the goal, just clipping the bar on its way past.
Shades of the infamous Balotelli to Aguero, but the pass, not the finish.
Another chance for Ben Yedda soon after, crossed in by Golovkin, down towards Ben Yedda, just
not able to get his head to the ball, didn't appear to be happening for the captain.
Finally the Estac resistance would fall though, and it would be via the combination that came
so close shortly before.
Good strength from Mbolo, finding his captain in the middle, first attempt blocked, but
Ben Yedda able to simply pass the equaliser into the net with 10 minutes remaining.
Of course, straight back to the centre circle, finally finding that breakthrough one way
or another.
A matter of seconds later, the Monaco captain would complete his side's turnaround.
Ball played to Golovkin on the right-hand side of the box, his cross into the middle
coming off Gallon, and then turned in by Ben Yedda.
16th of the season for Ben Yedda, joining Jonathan David in second place on the scoring
charts.
But this tale of twists and turns wasn't over just yet, the 91st minute, Abdou Kante with
a ball in from the left, and Ike Ugbo heading home.
A sting in the tail for Monaco, three goals in 10 minutes, casual as you like from the
London-born Canada international, 2-2, and that is how it would end.
Perhaps an important point, 4-2 up, stopping the rot at the very least, despite being one
nil down with 10 minutes remaining, it would feel like two points dropped for Lee Monigasque.
