We're here at Growing Green Nursery in Nashville, North Carolina and they are known for their rare
plants. So let me show you what we see today. I'm so excited to be here. Starting off they have
this ficus altissima if I'm not mistaken is the name and it has a great great variegation
and this one's $45. They have different ones. This one here has two in the pot
so that's pretty cool. You can share one with a friend and these are growing like in a tree.
I think this is called the black cardinal. Look at the leaves and the ones that I'm really
intrigued with are leaves like these. This color. That must be a nice. It's so shiny and look at the
beautiful. It's pretty big. It's already grabbing onto this pole. Very beautiful.
The Swiss monstera. There's the other name but I can never pronounce it so we're just gonna
stick it to this. Mini monstera. Swiss monstera. It's really pretty and I don't know the price.
It's a very nice variegation. Look at this. This is the well sansevieria right? The variegated kind.
This one seems like the normal kind but check out the variegation of these. Isn't that beautiful?
Some philodendron micans. Let's see if we find a nice one here. Nice pot. Seems like they're like
long and trailing. So these are small and it's $12 but I have never seen one in person and yes
it's like a little shiny but a velvety shiny and I know these can like either hang or you can make
them wrap around something. They're very pretty. They have a big one over there on the other side.
I'll have to show you in a moment how pretty these can be. Are you kidding me is what I'm saying when
I see this. Do you know what this is right? A variegated TC plant but it's all white. This is
crazy beautiful. Never seen anything like it. They have some awesome things here. Look at this. It's
so pretty. I'm not sure what the name of this one is. I'll have to look it up. You guys probably know
the name of it. Ficus. They're $7. Look at those colors. So pretty. Look at these philodendrons.
Look at the color. They beautiful? I don't know the name for this one either. It's so pretty.
So guys check out this philodendron. It has white in it. It's called here the little tag says
moonlight philodendron but the moonlight philodendrons that I know do not have any
white on them. So I'm a little puzzled and amazed. Oh it's hot. Look at this new beautiful leaf.
How shiny and ruffled edges. Well gorgeous. Let's see what this is. Look at all the roots.
It's basically roots. This says it's an anthurium.
1.25. Look at that one. It's probably 1.25 too. Look at this leaf. Can we take this home?
So pretty. We have some calatheas here. What is this one? The orbefolia. I'm not sure. I
forgot the name. I have it too. Zebra calathea. Look at that. Look at all that white. That's
definitely zebra like. That's beautiful. They don't have a lot but I'll choose one. They're $9
around this size. And look at this one. It's really pretty. The medallion. And look at this
one. This is the zebra one. Gorgeous. And then like the one on the top. The pink one. I came to ask
for that one. It's gorgeous. And look at the color. Look at all these jewel orchids. This one's $15.
It's macotus pedetola. And then here to the right we have the sea turtle jewel orchid. It's $20.
And then the ludisiac this color is $10. And they have so many. This is good for the terrariums.
More of these to have the white on them. Oh they do have a hindu roof. $25. And these are the
smaller ones. $15. See $15. I want to get all of it. $15 too. Look at this. Isn't this interesting?
I just saw a guy talking about one of the underrated but beautiful plants there is.
I think this is called the devil's backbone. But just the way it grows zigzag and it
throws a variegated leaf. That's something very cool. Are $40. Look how big and full they are.
Isn't it beautiful? Should I get it? I think $40 is pretty good for this size.
Since the cactus is a slow grower. Look at this beauty. Look at this one down here.
Look at this. I mean this is stunning. Stunning and pretty. I need to find a little one of this
one. This one's really big. Take a lot of space but it's beautiful. Look at all these beauties.
So that one um it's not a begonia. I'm not sure what the name is. I forgot. I came to buy that
one but it's already all sold. That one's just for propagation. I feel so bad because I didn't
buy one the other day that I was here. And I think this is the Hoya linearis I think that everybody
wants. And I'm looking at it in person and I'm not in love with it. But here it is. It's trailing
really nicely. I need to ask the price. It looks a little dry to me. That's enough. Okay this is the
Hoya turtle. How pretty. Oh this is beautiful. It's like a dark color. So this is called the
It's not for sale but it's gorgeous.
I have a lot of Rapali alacasia. Lots of uh swiss cheese monstera.
Who wants a heart? I want a heart. I take a heart. Show me the hearts.
Look at those ginormous hearts. Let's find the one with the most hearts.
It's like a ginormous pot. You have to see the pot. It's the biggest pot I've ever seen.
Crazy. Crazy beautiful. This one he told me the I remember it was 40 something like that.
And look a pink princess. And that one's gonna be really pink. It's pretty big. This is like a
10 inch pot. It's a nice developed plant. Beautiful trunk. 8 inch pot. 250. 8 inch pot.
This is a plant that's on my definitely wish list. They have the Monstera Peru. I heard somebody was
looking for one of these. This one's $50 but they're very big big big leaves. That's pretty
cool right? Very nice. And they have some of the variegated feces pots. You see that variegation?
And these are $90. Okay they have this Hoya. Wow this is a long one. Hoya um
Hoya. And it seems like there's two stems coming out of it and it's $50.
This one has two different stems. You clean this baby up. Very interesting. Very nice.
They have a silver sword right here for $100. They have the Florida Ghost $135.
Now these are called Painted Lady and they're $75 philodendrons. They have um this is uh
Mikan's right? Philodendron Mikan's. And um I'm not sure what if you said it was $45.
I'm about to go double check the price because if it's $45 I want to take this beauty.
And um they have a Philodendron Variegated Burl Marks. That's where's the variegation?
Don't see much of it. That's what it says the name. This one says uh look at the name.
I won't pronounce it. Philodendron Panduriforme. I shouldn't have pronounced it right.
Look at that leaf. It's $80. I've never seen that before.
They have another um Pink Princess right here. This one has not shot out any pink yet.
But look at the stem. It's so pretty.
Based on this one it's probably gonna be closer to $250. And um this one here it's pretty
interesting too. And this one is um $30. So I don't know exactly what the name is. Is it this?
Diphonbachia Reflector. Interesting. I've never seen that one before.
They're called the Ghost Cactus. They're so white. So pretty. So unique. I mean just to look at this
in real life. It's so interesting even if I don't buy one. I love it. And then they have all these
little hybrid Hyworthia. $7. They have String of Watermelon. $7. I've never seen this before either.
Interesting. Little watermelons. Cute, cute, cute.
This cactus. It's crazy. Oh and it's flowering. I kind of have to touch it. It feels like an animal.
This is weirdest plant I have ever felt in my life.
For instance here. These are $1.25. They don't have the pink on them that well. But this one
you can tell had the pink. And they had to cut it off. This leaf doesn't seem that pink. But you
can see some pink in here. So this one should shoot some pink in the future. Now there's some
bigger ones. Like this. There's pink in the actual stem. This one's a little bigger.
Already shooting bigger leaves. Look at this. How nice. And then they have the Thai Constellation
that everybody wants. Those are $3.25. Let's grab one. Okay so this one has one, two, three,
four leaves. Very nice. Man, Athelodendron, Somastium.
They have the Ascidia. You see this Dragon J? $45. Very interesting.
Alocasia Maharani, $25. Let's look at one of these. Interesting. Look at this Euphorbia Lace.
It's $20. But look at the coloring inside of it. That's very interesting.
Look at this pink princess. So this is the story with the pink princesses, right?
It's like you never know at what age when that pink is gonna pop. You got some pink there.
But there's a lot that don't have variation. You just gotta be patient
and then wait for the future. Look at this Birkin. How much white there is. That's beautiful.
Please look at this ginormous Thai Constellation.
Look at this beauty.
Wow. Beautiful. We'll have to take a picture of the other side too.
Look at this. Look at this leaf. It's over to my hand.
They're probably...
A variegated um... what is it called? I totally forgot. I'm just so excited I totally forgot.
Fiddle leaf tree. Fiddle leaf tree. A variegated one. These are very very um...
Everybody wants a Monstera jubii. Something like that. Does it have the name? No, but it's not for
sale. They're just propagating now. Beautiful. Oh, crocodile fern. I believe that's what these are
from its texture.
Okay, so it's plant haul time. It's been about a week since I went plant shopping to that nursery
that you just saw. So I even have some stories to tell about the care in this past week of these
plants. So that's pretty addition to the story. So I got about nine plants. I ended up going back
to the store and buying like a second trip and buying some more plants in two three days after
the first time I walked in there. And I'll show you what I got. Okay, to get started I got the
Peperomia Hope which came in this size and it was cheap. I want to say it was about six dollars. So
I know you can buy it in big box stores sometimes but I had not found it. And I love round plants
so I thought I would go ahead and get my hands on that one. Then I saw this Moonlight Philodendron
but it's just different to me. You see how it has white in it? All of them had a white on it.
And I don't know if it's just discoloration being of a greenhouse but I was kind of hoping
it would kind of stay white which I think it's probably not. But anyways it was like five dollars
so I thought it was so cute and I just fell in love with it. It had some white in it so I went
ahead and bought that one. Philodendrons are just so easy to take care of. Then another plant that
I got was this Calathea. It's called the Sabrina and I had not seen it everywhere so I feel like
I wanted to go ahead and get it because for six dollars yeah that's a good price.
And the leaves are kind of like velvety and just the markings are so pretty.
So it's been doing good. What's interesting about this Calathea is that when it's
dry it wrinkles like a little burrito. So it's very clear to see and it's white.
And once you give it some drink of water and I think I did this morning that's why it's all messy
it perks up. So it tells you when I need to water so that's always a good thing.
Then I also got another Calathea which is the Dottie. I think there's another name to it too.
Rose something but this is a Dottie and I love pink plants and this one had pink stripe markings
on it and it's like a nice dark color almost black. So that one was really pretty. I really
like this one and I've been happy with it. Like I said it's been about a week and it's been doing
good and that's it. No no problems with it. I'm happy with it and of course these can tolerate
tolerate medium to low light so these are always nice. I can put them in my dining room table
and my kitchen island and it's a nice pop. Then a different one that I got this one I had never
seen it. It's also this one's called a zebra plant. It's not a Calathea. I looked it up a little bit
and it says that it's um I have my notes right here. This one says that it's a Aphelandra
squarosa. Never heard of it. So I just love the markings. It does look like a zebra. There's a
lot of white in it and it's growing. At least this one's growing like a little tree. I looked
it up a little bit and says that it has to keep moist. Of course don't over water but keep moist.
So I put it in a terracotta pot. Hopefully it won't have any issues. I just have to make sure
I stay vigilant and don't let too much time go by between waterings. Isn't that cute?
The little leaves popping. So far so good with this one. Okay and then another and now the next
plants are a little bit more on my wish list. Well this one here is the philodendron amicans
and I had not seen it in any of the greenhouses or any of the big box stores ever. So now that
I saw it you know with the velvety leaves and it's a trailing vining plant I went ahead and got
it. This one here was I want to say it was twelve dollars which it's not that cheap cheap for the
size. They had a really big one that was actually growing on a on a pole and it was like so full
and luscious. You probably saw in the video and that was like 120. So just I started with this one
this baby. Also it came a little droopy and gave it some water and now it's perked up and it's nice
and good. Okay so my following plants are the sweet heart or the hoia caria. Look at how long
this is. So it comes in one two three what's that five leaves and then there's a baby one here
and then two baby well one baby and I think I knocked off the other baby in the travels
unfortunately because it came with two little hearts there and it seems like we might have
two other little hearts coming up here and this one was $20. I know these can be cheaper in other
areas. I know in California they tend to be cheaper but here I just had not seen it in any place I had
ever shopped that. Only online and $20 and you didn't have to pay shipping so went ahead and got
it. Now this one has on the back of it a little bit of black little marks and I don't know if
it's a bacteria or a fungus. Seems like it's very common for these plants. So I've been rubbing a
little bit of cinnamon on it and hopefully it won't do more damage. So another wishlist plant
that I got is the same the hoia caria but the variegated kind. This one has a lot of white
and I don't know if you noticed in the picture that I took right after I walked out of the
greenhouse it was actually had more leaves on it. I had to cut off three leaves already so
after I got home I put it in my plant shelves in my plant room that has the best lighting
turned on the humidifier and it actually came in a bigger pot. It seems like it had just been
repotted in a good six inch pot deep six inch pot and left it there and about maybe 24 hours later
to 30 hours later like a day and a half later I stopped and looked at it a little closer and I
realized there was these round brown spots on three of the leaves and it was becoming mushy.
I had a heart attack. I was like I cannot believe it because this one was a little more expensive.
This one was about 60 bucks so it was an investment but you know it's something that
you think well in the future maybe I can propagate and get some money back and enjoy the plant that
I like so I was like what in the world? The first thing I did is I measured the soil and the soil
was measuring really wet because I have one of those measuring little meters. It was measuring
like 10, 10 is the max and I had not watered it so it came watered and I had put it in the plant
room close to a humidifier so after the research it led to conclude that plants that are very
these plants they're more succulent like so they like to be on the drier side and it came very
watered and I put it by the humidifier so humidity plus a wet soil created for most likely this what
I think was a fungus so there was no way of saving it. I went ahead and cut off the three leaves I
didn't want it to spread and it was gonna it was already half of the leaf was really yucky looking
so that kind of made me bummed out so I immediately changed it to a smaller pot since I realized
when I took it out of that pot that the roots were not very big so I didn't want it to have
such a big pot with such little roots so I put it in a smaller terracotta pot with very barky
perlite mixture so it can stay on the drier side and now it's been another 30 hours or so and it
has not turned any of the other leaves have not turned that way and I took it out of that room
so it won't be by humidifier so I have it by a window I think it's a north facing window I think
look at this little cute heart isn't that cute so if you always hate that your plant
something goes wrong with it right after you get it but anyhow hopefully from now on it will be a
learning experience and it will do better so the other plant that I got that was on my wish list
was what's this it's a little pink princess you can see there's some pink there
some pink there some little spottings um there's a little pink there um there's a leaf that's going
to come out and I chose this one because it did have some pink veining so I heard that that's
something you should look for maybe there's a better chance of getting more pink in it
in the future um I just recently watered this today but it was um I put it in a very barky
also mixture because the mixture that it came with it might be okay for the greenhouses but
in my experience at home they don't dry that quickly so I learned by mistakes to just go ahead
and repot it into a lot barkier and perlite mixture so it will dry quicker because we want
it to dry in a couple of days we don't or at least measure not wet in two or three days
uh so terracotta pots always good and um yeah I actually got it for a pretty good price he ended
up even lowering the price from what was there because he said they were actually smaller than
what he's used to so I got it for a little bit less than a hundred dollars so again this is an
investment um we'll see in the future uh I'll get to enjoy it and if I can later propagate it and
hopefully my spending of money will come back and I can get to enjoy this beautiful plant and I know
um from the video you got to see usually these pink princesses end up giving them more pink as
time goes by so I'm gonna keep it in a bright indirect window and you guys have any care trips
uh any care trip tips for this plant please please help me out because so far in my experience
all the more expensive plants I end up getting end up having little issues um and that really
hurts I'm like I should just stick to the normal plans but anyhow what's done is done now I just
want to know how to take care of it the best way possible so I'll keep you guys posted on my
Instagram how these plants do because it's always a learning experience I try to look up videos
research but um sometimes you know like the other you guys say you just kind of have to learn as you
go also in your home your atmosphere and so far I'm learning a lot every single day how to take
care of all these beautiful plants but anyhow I just wanted to share with you guys all the little
plants that I ended up with I hope you guys enjoyed this video and if you're ever in that area um you
guys can check out those plants so this was the growing green nursery in Nashville North Carolina
I didn't know North Carolina had a Nashville but it does they also um carry a lot of their plants
in a farmer's market in Raleigh um in case you're ever in that area hope you enjoyed this video
thanks for watching and if you want to support this channel please hit the thumbs up button if
you enjoyed it and subscribe that really helps me out thank you thank you thank you for your time
have a good day guess what forgot to mention this plant that I also got from the nursery
um it's called the devil's backbone variegated kind and um it's really it's also called a
zigzag plant because it grows look at the stem it's in a zigzag and it's supposed to be very
easy to take care of plant and so far it's doing great I can even separate all the stems and
actually one by itself will even stand out even better so I'm thinking of maybe gifting some
to some friends and this was like really inexpensive I want to say it was like six bucks
and there was another plant I forgot to mention and it was a really really cool plant I can't
believe I forgot it this one here it's uh the name is this it's an alocasia the type it's
never seen it before isn't it awesome look at this look at this and this one was a small one
they had some bigger ones but I got the small one and it was only like eight dollars and it's just
so different than any of the plants I have so so happy to have this one to add to the collection
okay now I'll say goodbye again thank you for watching don't forget to subscribe thank you
