Hi everyone, welcome or welcome back.
If you're new here, my name is Jamie and I post lifestyle and finance videos as well
as vlogs here on my channel every Sunday.
So today I wanted to recap my Singapore recommendations of things to do and places to eat.
I've documented these places throughout my Singapore Diaries vlogs, but I thought it
would be neater to compile all of my recommendations in one little video.
So I really hope you enjoy this and let's just get into it.
So let's start with our accommodation.
We stayed at Yotel on Orchard Road and I would definitely go back there again.
It was very affordable and the location was perfect.
The rooms were also very clean.
I will say, as you can tell, the room is very small, but it had all the amenities we needed
such as a safe, an ironing board and a hairdryer.
We paid around $1,380 for five nights and that was for three adults because we got the
room with a bunk bed.
The hotel also has a really nice rooftop pool, which we used while we were there.
I really loved the food court, Food Republic at Shore House.
I went there a couple times during our trip.
I absolutely loved one of the roast places and I got the barbecue pork and the roast
pork with rice and some veggies and a little side soup, which is basically my perfect meal.
When I went back the second time, I had the barbecue pork with the noodles and the soup as well.
I would say I think I prefer the noodles over the rice, but honestly they were both so delicious
and I also had to get my iced Milo as well, which just seems like a Singapore trip staple.
We went to Maxwell Food Centre to try the famous Tian Tian Hainanese chicken rice.
We got super lucky because the line wasn't very long and it moved so quickly because
the place is just such a well-oiled machine.
It's so efficient.
Anyway, the food was delicious.
I love me some chicken rice.
It was so comforting and perfect.
It was again, the great combo of meat, rice, veggies and soup.
It's probably no surprise that Gardens by the Bay was such a highlight.
I had never been there before and I went to the Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome.
We took the shuttle bus because our legs were cooked from all the walking that we had done.
It was such a scenic location and there were so many different types of flowers.
If I had to pick one activity between the two, I probably would have picked the Flower
Dome because it was just so beautiful.
There was so much to see and read and I really enjoyed the experience.
I'll also mention that both of these locations were very family-friendly.
I saw a lot of young kids and families going around.
Again, it's so aesthetic so save your cute outfit for this one because it's so beautiful.
We don't have Shake Shack in Australia so we were so excited to see it and it was so
convenient because it was at the same location as Gardens by the Bay.
I had the Shack Burger which was really delicious and I tried some of my cousin's pandan shake
and that was so good.
I ordered the 50-50 which was half lemonade and half organic iced tea which was so yum.
And the Sambal Mayo Fries was also definitely a highlight.
I really wanted to try their Sambal Mayo Burger but it was unfortunately sold out but yeah,
I would highly recommend if you don't have Shake Shack where you live to give it a try.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Okay, let's mix it up and talk about some coffee.
I really loved their iced coffee and had it multiple times on my trip.
If you're around the Takashimaya area, I would highly recommend checking out ToriQ.
It's an unsuspecting little stall that's really tasty and affordable.
I always get their skewers and rice every time I visit Singapore.
Of course, we ate a bunch of kaya toast on our trip.
We tried Yakun Kaya Toast and Kilini Kopitiam.
I prefer the latter just because I prefer the texture of the toast a bit more.
It was a bit more thick.
I really loved the green tea croissant from Tiong Bahru Bakery.
I would definitely go back and have this croissant again.
I had an oat milk latte from this place which was great and a viewer recommended to try
the Hojicha latte so I went back a second time but unfortunately their coffee machine
was broken so I couldn't order.
We took the train and walked over to the Art Science Museum which was another highlight
for me.
We visited the Future World exhibition and it was just stunning especially the area with
all of the lights.
I'm sure you've seen so many photos of it but it was really beautiful.
It's also definitely family friendly so if you're travelling with children, it's definitely
a great spot to visit.
The next restaurant was Candlenut Kitchen and this was my favourite meal of the trip.
I had never had Peranakan food before and the flavours were so delicious.
I'm so sorry if I'm butchering that, I just don't know how to pronounce it.
We ended up going with the set menu and I would recommend if you can, going for the
menu because I thought it was very much worth it.
It was their best dishes and everything was yum.
Like none of the dishes were disappointing and honestly I'm getting sad looking at this
footage because I miss this meal so much.
I would definitely go back on my next Singapore trip whenever that will be.
I really enjoyed walking around the Haji Lane and Arab Street area.
It was just full of really cool bars and different restaurants.
There are a lot of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food options to choose from which
is especially great if you're vegetarian.
It's definitely nice for a night out and to have some drinks with your friends.
If you see the Magnolia Ice Cream stand when you're walking down Orchard Road, definitely
grab a sandwich for yourself.
My cousin got the yam ice cream sandwich and that was so delicious, I took several
bites of her sandwich.
I should have just ordered one for myself but yeah, it was really good with the rainbow
bread.
Inside this cute clothing store called The Editor's Market in Takashimaya was a really
nice cafe called Found and I loved their Freddo Espresso.
We don't have the Kinokuniya bookstore in Melbourne so I was super keen to visit.
They have a great selection of books as well as stationery.
That is a wrap on this video, I really hope you find this video helpful.
If you end up going to one of these places, please let me know, I would love to know what
you think.
Thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video, bye!
