WHAT IS BRAIN EDUCATION TV? Brain Education TV provides mental health and mental wellness videos to help young adults with loneliness, depression, and anxiety. The foundation of our content comes from Brain Education, an academic study from South Korea that stems from over 40 years of research and application and has been practiced by millions around the world.
WHY WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH… We suffered from high-functioning loneliness and depression our whole lives. We lived different lives in different states, but when we met, we realized we were struggling with common issues that reflected an important problem in our young adult generation. We didn’t know who we were, what we were passionate about, what we should live for, and what direction our lives were “supposed” to go. We spent a lot of time wandering in search of that magical ‘answer’ that will solve all problems (like I’m sure most of you are doing right now), and yet the further we searched outside, the more pronounced the emptiness inside of us felt.
Millions of people suffer silently from mental health related issues. Yet our society still places taboos around openly talking about relevant mental health topics like loneliness, depression, and anxiety. As a result, our young adults don’t know how to talk about it constructively, where to turn to, or what resources they have to combat this real-life threat to their wellbeing.
We credit Brain Education for giving us the courage to overcome our own mental health struggles and create the lives we want...and now we hope you can too through the videos we share on this channel.
The breath I breathe is not mine. It is the breath of the universe,
breath of life, swirling in the grand breath of cosmic mind,
sighing with the soft breathing of cosmic energy. Grass, trees, clouds, people,
all the universe dances to the rhythm of my breathing. I let go my weary past
with every exhale of each breath. With each breathing cycle, I die and am reborn.
As I inhale and exhale, I see my existence anew and recognize the law of the cosmos.
When I breathe freely, I become one with heaven, one with the divine,
for I have never been separated from the heaven, land, and sea. Within this breath, you and I
are one, not bound by time or space, nor knowing sorrow and pain, living according to the law
of heaven and the earth, tasting the sky, feeling the universe, drinking the energy of the universe,
breathing along with the cosmos. With each breath, I am reborn into a brand new existence.
With each breath, the universe begins again with a brand new wave.
In this meditation, we will use the breath to feel the life force within us.
First, straighten your spine, either on your chair or sit down on the floor in half lotus.
And with your spine straight, gently tuck your chin slightly in towards you.
Become aware of the top of your head and imagine a pillar of energy coming down your spine.
Down, down, down, all the way to your tailbone. And now, gently, if you haven't done so already,
close your eyes. Relax your body down to your tailbone.
If your shoulders feel a little tense, go ahead and shake them loose.
Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. Also your neck and shoulders.
Side to side, side to side, shake your neck, side to side. And now stop.
We will regulate the breath to bring it deeply into our bodies to feel energy moving throughout
from the top of your head all the way down to your toes. When you breathe, imagine your body
like a rubber balloon. When you inhale, slowly inhale as if you're expanding like a rubber balloon.
And when you exhale, slowly exhale as if you are leaking a little bit of energy at a time
like a balloon. And now you are ready. Let's breathe deeply into your nose.
Exhale deeply through your mouth until you have no more breath inside of your body.
Again, deeply inhale through your nose, expand like a balloon.
Let it go deeply into your abdomen and now exhale through your mouth slowly like a balloon.
Let's do three more times. Breathe in through your nose, breathe out through your mouth
until you have no more breath inside of you. Inhale deeply and breathe out.
One last time, breathe in deeply and exhale through your mouth.
And now keep your eyes closed and feel your body. Do you feel subtle tingling in your fingertips?
Maybe even your toe tips? Maybe even on your face? Do you feel warmth in your body?
Maybe in your fingertips? Maybe you can recognize your neck and shoulders a little bit more?
Do you have saliva forming in your mouth? These are all signs that energy is circulating within
your body now. You did a great job. You can come back to this meditation whenever you feel rushed,
whenever you feel stressed and out of control, frantic and overwhelmed. Come back to the breath
and regain balance, regain centeredness in your life.
