Happy Mother's Day everyone. Although Mother's Day should be recognized every day, celebrating
the woman who sacrificed her needs, who has nurtured us and raised us, I can tell you
I wouldn't be the woman I am today without her. This is my way of showing my love and
appreciation by giving my mother the gift of some quality time over afternoon tea.
For my centerpiece, my inspiration for throwing this tea party was an inspired picture I saw
on Pinterest. I got fresh store-bought flowers from the grocery store and placed them inside
a teapot that I had already. It wouldn't be afternoon tea without tea sandwiches, right?
I planned ahead and made chicken and egg salad sandwiches and cut off the crust. Quiche
and parfaits topped with blueberries are some of my mom's favorites.
My mom loves flowers and teacups. While shopping for a gift for her, I came across these adorable
cups I saw at Ross stores. She doesn't know it yet, but this will be part of her Mother's
Day gift. Every time she sees them, it will be a reminder of the wonderful day we had
with one another.
For this special occasion, I had to pull out my beautiful silver tea set. By the way, I
got it from the flea market for $7. Hot water, milk, and sugar cubes are all ready to go
on my mirrored tray. On my cake stand are cupcakes. Any flavor that my mom wants, it's
there. My nesting bird bowls are some strawberries and blackberries I got. The bowls from Tuesday
morning. And hey, did you notice that pineapple utensil? I got that from there as well for
only $2.99.
If you guys follow me on Instagram, you know I love flea markets and shopping thrift. Believe
it or not, this cake and trowel set is by Vera Wang and I got it brand new, still in
the box, for $5. It retails for $60. While I was also there that day, I also came across
this very rare pink milk glass bowl for only $3.
On my three-tier dessert stands are some soup shooters and doubled eggs and mini quiches.
Individual strawberry spinach salad with vinaigrette dressing is also here. That's one of my mom's
springtime favorite salads and I thought she would love this. And over here are my other
cake stands that I got from HomeGoods or my mom's favorite, apple turnovers.
Attention to detail. Inside my sugar bowl are these adorable, beautiful rose petal cubes
that I got from my local bakery. An unconventional way to display your Pretty Cloth napkins,
place them in a pot lid rack holder. That's what I'm using here to display my Pretty Napkins.
So I hope you guys have enjoyed watching how I spent the day with my mom on Mother's Day
and I'm wishing you all a Happy Mother's Day!
