We had one day in Copenhagan Denmark and what a beautiful city! I'd love to go back another time in the summer, but from what we saw I absolutely loved this European capital.
Good morning from Berlin. We've only been here for the last two days and already we're leaving today
and heading to Copenhagen. It's been a bit of a whirlwind trip through Berlin. It's not the way
I'd like to do it normally. We've actually only had two nights here and now we're leaving again
so we haven't had a massive chance to see a lot of it. We've tried to see what we can
but now we're heading off again and the reason is we're doing this sort of whistle stop tour
through Europe but it was all sort of leading up to Finland next week and Finland is going
to be really exciting. That's going to be really cool but we just wanted to fit a couple places in
before that so I just wanted to explain that for anyone that's wondering why we're just spending
a day or two in each place. I don't know if you can see behind me but this is the dorm we've been
staying in for the last two nights. We've been staying back in a hostel, splashing them YouTube bucks
and the main reason is because like I said we're only here for a night or two. We may as well keep
the cost down but now we're about to leave. We need to grab the bags, check out and spend the last day
in Berlin before heading on to Denmark.
Hey, let's leave these but also can we leave our bags? Yes, just put the pink on.
Anyway so pro tip, most of you that have a backpack might know this already but if you haven't
then this is a bit of knowledge. Whenever you check out of somewhere if you have your backpacks
or your luggage you can leave it there for the day while you go walk around the city if you've
got the flight or train or bus or whatever in the evening. So that's what we're doing today,
we leave our backpacks here, walk around Berlin a bit with our hand luggage and then we leave tonight.
So we just spent most of the day doing work on the laptops, it was a real work day
but now it's the evening time and we're about to jump on the bus and head to Copenhagen. Another
top tip for backpacking on a budget is travel overnight and you save on accommodation.
So it's an overnight journey anyway, it's a long journey from Berlin to Copenhagen
so we may as well sleep on the bus. Okay time to settle in for a nine-hour journey
on this seat. Next stop Copenhagen. So we've now arrived in Copenhagen and this is our Airbnb by
the way. I was going to show you around but I'm not going to do it right now because we're heading
out straight away to head back into the city. This Airbnb is a little bit further out than the
actual city centre so it's going to take us about 20 minutes, half an hour train to get back in
but we're going to go back in and spend the whole day exploring Copenhagen.
I love Airbnb. I put it in the description of all my videos because I love using it but also
because there's a good referral scheme. If I refer anyone then you guys get £25 off and I get
credit to use towards places like this. I've mentioned it before so I won't go into detail
on it but it is a good way to get accommodation while you're traveling. So look into that and
sign up if you haven't done it already. I would recommend everyone to be on Airbnb.
We spent the last day really chilling out here after that bus journey. We decided this would
be a nice place to recharge and chill and do a little bit of stuff, a little bit of work on the
laptop. But now we're heading back into Copenhagen. I'm going to go explore the city for a day.
Are you ready? Yeah. It's a nice place right?
Welcome to Denmark. I don't think I've done that bit yet. So welcome. I think this is country 58.
I said when we arrived to the Czech Republic that I'd tally them up and I've tried to do that and
I'm pretty sure this is now country 58. It's January which means it's pretty cold here right
now. Actually everywhere we've been going in the last week or so is pretty cold. I don't think it's
the perfect time to be backpacking through Europe. But we are trying to make the most of each place
we go to and we're going to try and make the most of Copenhagen today. We've started off walking
through the botanical gardens after we got off the train and this is where we are right now.
But as you can see around me a lot of the trees are without leaves, a lot of the
flowers aren't bloomed. So we don't really have the perfect experience of the botanical gardens
at least but we're going to go and see what else there is to do in Copenhagen in January.
I'm going here for free. Well this is a bit warmer and you can tell because
my lens is completely fogged up. It's really cold outside but we get to go in the
palm garden for free and it's really warm in here. Come in. It's a bit warmer in here.
This is actually very cool. I had no idea that this little palm garden was here but it's actually
a nice respite from the cold and it's quite an interesting little gallery to see at the same
time as being pretty good for some photos. So that's what we're doing right now. Trying to
take a few cool shots. There you go. And just on cue there's Olivia getting ready.
Ready? That's good. You like it?
Pretty cool. Well worth seeing for half an hour. We just stumbled across it but yeah
definitely worth a visit. Now we're going to go down to the river and find the next spot.
An unexpected parade. We seem to be stumbling across them all over Europe right now.
Every stop we've had we've had a parade go past us. That time it was a military parade.
Wow we're good at this. In every city we go we are being welcomed by some sort of parade. I think
it's because we're arriving. Yeah it's the first day in the city. Next up this is arguably the
most famous spot in Copenhagen and it's certainly the place I've seen most photos of. It's the
Nyhavn canal and whenever I see a photo of Copenhagen it's usually this place. You've got
the colourful buildings along the canal. A real Instagram place. So it's not.
We're just walking around here just seeing it. There's loads of little
cafes and bars all along but we're just going to have a little stroll through and take it in.
Very colourful and cool but also very cold. I feel like that would be a place that you might be
better off seeing when it's a warmer day. We're going to try and get out of the cold now and go
and find some food somewhere. There is the Copenhagen street food market right next to...
that's my camera strap there... right next to the canal but we don't know if it's open now
so we're gonna go have a look. This is what we were looking for but closed. New one opens in May.
Yeah I saw this online and it looked pretty cool but just from across the water it did look like
it was closed and it is so a new one will open in May but for now we're gonna have to go and
try and find somewhere else to eat. No idea where yet.
And we're here. So we've come to the backup food option Torehallen. No idea if I'm saying that
right but this is another place that is recommended to come to in Copenhagen. It's two big greenhouses
full of food and street food options. We're gonna go in have a look around and see what there is to grab.
Open-faced sandwiches. Perfect thank you. Okay so this is small bread which is basically an
open-faced sandwich. Can you see it? And I've got Danish meatball, potato salad and dressing around it.
Let's do it. How do I do it? From there?
All in. Pretty good. I mean most of it was just like a normal
sandwich but the bread, the rye bread was really good. So we just found out the march earlier that
we saw was the changing of the guards right? Yeah the changing of the guards. And they march from
the barracks to the palace every day. Yeah Amalienborg Palace yes. Very cool. Good research.
Big kids. Check this out. Wait wait wait. It can stroke his beard. It is not wise to touch
policeman on the head. You are under arrest. Just kidding. What? That's so cool.
That can shake his hand as well. Ah your arm is so powerful. Nice to meet you.
You too. Have an awesome day.
I guess no rides for us now. Not tonight. I don't know if you can see this behind me.
This is the Tivoli Gardens entrance which is an amusement park in Copenhagen. It's one of the
sights to see here. Unfortunately in January though it's closed. It opens again on February 2nd
and we knew that already. We just happened to be walking past so I thought I'd mention it.
That is something to see here in the summer months.
We're at the Strøget walking street. I think that's how you say it right now. And we're just
walking around walking all the way through it. It's one of the longest shopping streets in Europe
and that's what makes it something to see here. We didn't really have any plans on buying anything
or going in anywhere really. We're just walking along to see it and I think after that we're
head back because it's very cold. And that's it for today. We decided just to come back to the
Airbnb and chill for tonight. But really good day in Copenhagen. Obviously there were some things
that were closed. It was a little bit cold out but that's the drawbacks to going here in January.
I'd still say there was a lot to do in January and there's still much more than I showed you today.
A cool city that I'll definitely be coming back to in the summertime when it's a bit warmer outside.
It had that sort of feel but I think it would be really cool in the sun
with the terraces and bars and everything. So I'll be back for that. I'm still here tomorrow.
I'm not sure exactly what the plan is yet but I'll let you know. So check back for the next
video but for now I'll just say again thank you for watching and this is my life.
