I'm back in Bali and it's time for a new Indonesia Vlog! In this episode I explore the areas around Ubud in Bali to find the best Instagram spots. I also stumble upon the famous Ghost Palace Hotel and finally try Babi Guling!
Good morning and welcome back to Indonesia.
I've been in Bali for the last two weeks just on a complete chill hour and catching up on
the give back giveaway videos.
So I hope you guys enjoyed them.
In this video I'm joined by Olivia.
Hello guys.
We met and experienced Bucharest in Romania and now she's here in Bali.
We're going to go around Ubud finding some of the best Instagram spots and trying them
out for you.
Anyway, here it is.
Enjoy.
So yesterday we already explored Tegalalung Rice Terraces and Teganunglung Waterfall and
those are two famous places in Ubud that you should definitely check out and here's why.
Today we're heading a bit out of Ubud to Jatilua Rice Terrace and it's somewhere I've never
been before but I really want to explore.
Now you can join us.
Enjoy.
Let's go.
Right, we're just driving and this is one of the things I love about Bali.
Beautiful roads like this.
After a one and a half hour drive through some beautiful scenery, we've just arrived
to the rice terraces and it's pretty worth it.
Who brings a kimono to a rice field?
Fashion vlogger.
So besides just wanting to come and see this place, we also really want to get some good
Instagram photos and the three places I've picked out today are three amazing places
from what I've seen to get really good shots.
What are these things?
They look like wigs.
I think I should wear one.
It looks like you're wearing one already.
Yeah.
And these are the wigs with a ponytail.
No matter where you are, you bring out the drone and kids love it.
Bye guys.
Bye.
Yeah, this place is beautiful and I think we've got a few good shots from it.
One thing I didn't know before coming here is that you have to pay to get in the whole
area, which I found surprising.
You don't for Tegelalang, but you do for here and it's 40,000 each.
So, just to let you know.
Anyway, now we're going to head off and go to the next spot.
That looks good.
Get some sambal in there.
Good to have Bakso again.
And I was just saying, a lot of Indonesian food, most of it even, you don't get anywhere
else in the world other than here.
It's not like Thai or Italian that you can get anywhere.
Indonesian, you just seem to get in Indonesia.
It's a shame.
So, we were just driving past Bedugor Temple and didn't plan to go here today, but since
it is a really iconic place to see in Bali, then we're going to go and check it out.
The reason I didn't plan to come here is because I've actually been here before in this video
that will pop up somewhere here, but Olivia hasn't.
So, I can show you the sights.
This is hilarious.
So, like, everyone taking photos.
That's always the funny thing about these places, the iconic picture you see on Instagram
and then the actual reality of the amount of people behind the shot.
This is the second spot I really wanted to get to.
This gate.
And it's really famous for photography.
It's famous for Instagram photos.
DoYouTravel made an epic one here and I think since then people have been coming to take
photos here.
I doubt he did it first.
I'm sure it was well known here before that.
Anyway, this is why I wanted to come, to try and get some cool pictures here.
What do you think?
Beautiful.
I have to take the Instagram pictures now.
Just like everybody else.
In your kimono.
These gates are all over Bali, by the way, but this one, it looks particularly good.
It's actually just an entrance to a golf course.
There's nothing symbolic about it.
That's what it is.
It just looks so good and that's why people come here for photos.
The secret is well and truly out with this place.
There are three cars.
Yeah, I know.
The wrong side of this.
So it's impossible to take photos right now.
This is just not happening.
No.
So I think if you want to come here, you have to come here early in the morning.
Because, I don't know.
Look.
There's people waiting for photos.
People on the wrong side of the gate.
There's no chance of getting any good shots.
Alright, I think I declare this a fail.
Failure.
Definitely.
You just can't take a photo in here.
Not the best camouflage.
Right, we were just driving back and it was raining.
But the rain has just stopped.
And I had no idea this would be on the way.
But we're at the Ghost Palace Hotel.
It's a completely abandoned hotel in Belagal that you can explore.
And yeah, this is exciting.
I've never been here before.
Some dudes fishing over here.
That was very Bali.
Security guard just came and told us that it was closed and we need to leave because it's 5.
And then he said, but for 20,000 it stays open.
For an hour.
So now we get a chance to explore.
Careful.
I'd use the torch for your feet.
This is funny.
I'm surprised this is so empty.
Damn, this is cool.
Looks kind of good.
Yeah.
Looks like it might have been once.
Not bad.
This was once an entrance.
So I tried to look it up, but there was nothing really that I could find.
But I don't know the actual reason that this is abandoned.
So if anyone knows, then let me know in the comments below.
Because I'd love to know why.
It feels like it was meant to be a really grand hotel.
And it doesn't look that old.
It's just been completely abandoned.
This is cool.
Nice.
This place is awesome.
So you know what time it is.
That didn't work.
There you go.
So I know I mentioned in a recent video that I've been doing a lot of sponsored stuff.
But I just need to tell you guys that you should definitely visit the Ghost Palace Hotel in Bali.
Because I'm staying here tonight.
And yeah, 100% recommend it.
Right, it's raining.
We have about half an hour of daylight left.
So I'm going to drive back as quick as possible to Ubud.
And I'll just speak to you again when we get there.
Okay, so I need to make a confession.
I've been to Bali loads of times.
Even lived here for a few months.
And I've never had babi guling.
It's suckling pig and it's famous here in Bali.
But I've never had it.
So that's where we're going right now.
There's a famous restaurant called Ibu Oka.
That we're going to try and get some babi guling in.
Well here it is.
And it's closed.
Epic planning.
Okay, so I guess that's why you should do your research.
Through the power of editing, I'm going to come back here tomorrow instead.
Take two.
And it's open this time.
So this is the special one.
That's with just the meat.
This one comes with the vegetables as well.
So I'm going to get the special.
Babi guling special.
Two or two?
Mine is better.
I'll have this one.
This one?
Yes.
With sugar?
Yes.
Are you excited for babi guling?
Yes, very.
I cannot wait.
I've been waiting for days.
Yeah, so you just saw the last time.
But I've been trying for about three days to come here.
And we keep coming when it's closed.
So finally, I have it.
Nice.
Thank you.
So this is it.
The famous babi guling special.
I've been waiting for so long.
I haven't actually tried this yet.
So I'm just going to stir it up.
Let's do this.
Oh yeah.
That's good.
Definitely two thumbs up of approval.
I've got to say, that was really good.
And definitely worth the wait.
I'm going to finish this video here.
But we're actually off to Gili and then Rinjani next.
I'm going to film a series of videos there.
And I'll do another vlog from there as well.
So check back for that.
In the meantime, you can follow both of our Instagrams,
which I'll link below.
Olivia's there as well.
And for now, I'll just say again,
thank you for watching.
And this is bye.
