I think about the generational thing.
I mean, these kids are growing up when they're going to say,
hey, we got to come out and watch Shoei Ohtani pitch.
I think about the guys that got to come out
and watch Nolan Ryan pitch.
That's what we're experiencing right now.
We get to come out here and work
and see Shoei Ohtani and Mike Trout.
I think that's just so special to come out here
every night to do that.
Jonathan Davis, who has certainly had himself
a nice little run early on.
Chopper back to Ohtani, a nice play.
Oh, a wide throw, and that's going to be an error on Ohtani.
So good defensively, made the play.
Shohei Davis on the way to second base.
You don't see that ever.
Shohei, one of the best fielding pitchers
we've seen in a long, long time.
You can see, by the way, he threw that baseball.
He threw it across his body.
He had that front shoulder open up,
and that throw gets away from him.
Doesn't happen often for Shohei.
That's just an extra batter, an extra out.
Here's Jorge Soler.
Yes, that's Shohei at his best.
When there's a runner in scoring position,
that next level for Shohei.
Two aboard for the Marlins now.
They're at the corners with two outs.
Here's where Gurriel's at his best,
and he also has really good career numbers against Shohei.
That's into left field, and that is down for a base hit.
Uli Gurriel comes through with a two-out knock.
Guy was hitting 300 with two outs
and runners in scoring position.
Adds to it, and it's one-nothing.
Edward Cabrera who gets the start for the Marlins tonight.
Two-one to Trout.
He is grounded left side.
Diving play by Birdie, up with it.
Gurriel, what a play!
That had base hit written all over it.
Couple of steps and a dive by John Birdie.
He gets to his feet very quickly,
and athletically, he gets that ball across the diamond to nip.
And Mike Trout right at the wire.
What a play by Birdie.
A ball and no strikes to Otani,
who lifts a fly ball out toward left center field.
Not deep.
It will be De La Cruz.
Great defense behind Cabrera in a one-two-three first inning.
And Otani's 80 Ks entering tonight.
Night trails only Nolan Ryan and Bill Singer
for the most in Angels history in their first ten starts.
There's a strikeout on three pitches,
so good morning, good afternoon, good night.
Sweeper misses inside.
Ball four.
That's the second walk for Otani.
That's it. Well, nice play.
Walsh steps on first.
We could get that double play.
Got it.
Pitcher's best friend, perhaps unconventional,
but you see the defense that Walsh provides right there.
Walsh has another walk in this series.
Two-out walk.
Gio Urshela will be the next batter.
First pitch swinging center field.
Going back on it is Edwards, and that's off the wall.
Hasselman's going to send Walsh.
Gio Urshela's going to hold up right there
with a two-out RBI double.
Halo's on the board. They tie it up.
Two-out walk.
You mentioned the walk's part of Cabrera's game,
and it costs him a run.
So we've got Mike Trout and then Shoei Otani on deck.
And that one gets through.
That was just hit too hard to make the play by Birdie.
Made a great one of short on Trout.
Made a great one of third, but that was hit too hard.
Base hit for Mike. Brings up Shoei.
Gives Shoei a chance.
Potentially giving himself the lead here with swinging.
That was 106.2 miles per hour exit velocity
for Trout on that one.
Bouncing ball right side. Can they turn two?
That's one, and that's all they'll get.
We have four six-fielders' choice to erase Trout.
O-two coming.
Ground ball to Birdie. Another diving play.
Up with it goes to second to get the out.
John Birdie has been slick over at third tonight.
Tied at one through three.
Find it interesting when he takes his warm-up pitches.
I would say he throws about anywhere from 30% to 50% effort.
Swing and a miss. He got him on the fastball.
You called it.
Otani. Made you look good once again.
That's in there. Got him.
Otani with a beautiful painted fastball to strike out Birdie.
Go-ahead run in scoring position with nobody out here
in the bottom of the fourth inning for the Angels.
And a called strike three.
Second punch out of the night for Cabrera.
Cabrera really slowing things down.
The clock is at three. Now the pitch is swung on a miss.
Really good curveball there from Cabrera.
Urshela was standing in the box because the ball was in the dirt.
Stallings basically picked the baseball up.
Count is one and two to Chad Wallach with Drury at second.
And the pitch is over. Called strike three.
Cabrera got him with a curveball.
The inning is over.
Cabrera strands the leadoff double by Drury.
Here in the fourth. We'll go to the fifth.
Jacob Stallings is at third base.
And now Soler's at first with two outs in the fifth inning.
Louisa Rice could use a big base hit.
And the count is nothing and two.
And now this really big crowd on a Saturday night
here in Anaheim is going to come alive.
Here's the 0-2. And that is a line drive.
Into right field. A base hit for Louisa Rice.
He looked towards the Marlins' dugout.
Jacob Stallings will glide in from third.
It's two to one Miami here in the fifth.
Still trouble. Two on, two out.
And it's De La Cruz. Four hits a night ago.
Two on, two out. And a 2-2 coming.
Swing and a miss. That is big.
De La Cruz strikes out. One run comes in for Miami.
But limiting the damage right there.
It's a one-run game. Two to one.
Showway back out there for the sixth.
2-1 game. He'll face Willie Gurriel.
And he chased that time. Got him on the sweeper.
That was pretty far out of his strike zone also.
Lowest home ERA. Gooby says 19-20.
That's another strikeout.
That's nine Ks for Otani.
And back-to-back on his 100th pitch of the night.
And it is a beauty. And a swing and a miss.
He's got ten strikeouts on the night.
What a performance. Six innings.
You wanted a punch out, and you got it.
Gutsy performance against a tough Angels ball club.
He will be lifted here. Two outs.
Runners at second and third.
Angels trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth.
It's Matt Theis. Pinch hitting for Chad Wallach.
That's driven to right field. Base hit.
We're tied up. Looking for the go-ahead run.
The throw to the plate. Not into Theis.
Off the bench. Delivers with a two-run base hit.
Here's Jorge Soler. It's Homer in four straight games.
The only other Marlin slugger to do that
was Giancarlo Stanton.
And Soler hits one in the air. Left center field.
It's going back. It's going way back.
Jorge Soler gives the Marlins the lead again.
You knew he was going to get something good to hit,
and because Theis is standing in that on-deck circle,
therefore, they didn't want to pinch around him.
So it's Chris Davinsky. Two on. Nobody out.
And that's just a huge strikeout,
but Theis has it, and that will do it.
And with the bases occupied with less than two outs.
And he gets another strikeout. Two down.
What a great changeup again.
And that's the changeup of old for Davinsky.
And he does it. Three straight strikeouts.
Chris Davinsky dealing.
Gio Urshela is the batter as the Angels step up here
in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Two strikes. Urshela is so good making contact,
trying to get on base here.
Driven to center field. Gio Urshela.
It is. Boy, Mr. Two strikes.
It's covered it. Center field tie.
Ball game. Gio Urshela.
Give that man the caboodle.
What it's all about right here, you have Trout up a chance.
Three walk-off home runs in his career.
Oh, that's a beautiful piece of hitting.
On 3-0. Opposite field. Base hit.
And the winning run is aboard, and Mike Trout.
Shohei's been quiet at the plate in this series.
He's yet to get a hit.
Here's the 0-1. Otani swings.
He hits a line drive to third.
It's caught by John Birdie.
There's one away. Oh, my goodness.
That's a big out.
Birdie placed perfectly,
shifted towards that shortstop position.
Count is nothing and two.
And a pitch is hit in the air.
Right field and playable.
Garrett Hampson is looking up, watching it come down.
He makes the catch, and now there's two outs.
1-2 pitch is right there for a called strike three.
Dylan Floro. What an inning.
And now Garrett Cooper's going to pinch it.
He's coming on when it matters most, I would say.
Swing and a high drive.
This baby might have a chance.
Deep left-center field. Back towards the wall.
And it's dropped. It's dropped by Moniac.
He's going to score.
The Marlins take a 5-4 lead here in the 10.
They intentionally walk Birdie.
That loads the bases now for Stallings.
Ground ball right back to the mound.
That's one, a low throw, but they turn two.
Marlins are actually going to ask to look at it,
and I think that's got to go the Marlins' way.
I don't think he ever touched home plate.
After review, the call is overturned.
The runner is safe.
The Marlins might be one real big hit away
from putting this game on ice here tonight.
This one looped into left field, and it gets down a base hit.
Garrett Hampson comes through, drives in a pair,
and the Marlins break it wide open.
George Shillow's had a couple of hits,
a couple of RBI hits, a homer leading off
the bottom of the eighth,
and also an RBI double will be the next batter.
Oh, that's a nice piece of hitting,
Shillow, the opposite way. Unbelievable.
And Drury is going to score.
That's another knock, another RBI, and it's 8-5.
1-2 from Hoeing.
Line, and the out at first base.
It's a Marlins win.
That last play was a little apropos of this ballgame.
Yeah, you had it for a second.
You lost it, but then you ended up locking it down.
No panic.
