Do you want to know how to find beautiful hidden places? Well in this video, I will show you how to do just that. This is the fifth video in a series where I teach you how to find beautiful hidden waterfalls, swimming holes and other amazing places in nature. In this video, I talk about the fundamental importance of LNT or leave no trace ethics in nature and also the importance and benefits of having an adventure squad. If you have any questions let me know in the comments below, and the best questions will be featured and answered in one of the final videos of this series.
I make outdoor adventure travel videos to inspire you to take your next trip and get outdoors. Life is short and there are so many interesting people, places and things to learn about and experience. Join me on my journey, SUBSCRIBE AND become a part of Team Infamous.
My name is Jesse St Louis (AKA Infamous JSL) and I'm an actor that likes to go on awesome adventures between gigs. I've been called a "no frills Bear Grylls" but mostly I've been called an Actor. Traveler. Smart-ass.
Welcome back to the last video in this series on how to find hidden beautiful places. Today,
guys, I'm just doing a bit of a little sea cave exploration here. Pretty sweet. I actually don't
know if the tide is coming in or going out, so a little lack of research on my part today,
but look at that. Should we go in there? What do you guys think? Maybe we should just
do the video on what I want to talk about today, and that is the squad. So what is the squad,
or the crew, or the team? Well, essentially, that is a group of adventurers who are on the same
page as you. You're on the same frequency. You get them, they get you. You have similar skill sets,
and you're all about finding hidden beautiful places. I mean, that doesn't have to be the
only thing you're into, right? Plenty of squads out there. If you've been following my channel
for a while, you know my main man, Willie Price, is my number one OG Team Infamous squad member,
but shout out to 42 Adventures in Switzerland. Shout out to No Limit Hikers, OAE in SoCal.
There's plenty of squads out there, and the benefit of having a squad is that you don't
have to do it all by yourself. Oftentimes, I will do a solo mission. The more people that you have
in your squad, that's more people that can be doing research, that can be doing recon, and that
enables you in the long run to find more hidden beautiful places when you spread that workload out.
Now, personally, I don't like to do adventures with more than three or four people. I prefer a smaller
group. It's just less people to kind of worry about. My ideal number, I would say, is probably
two to three. I mean, often it's me and Sam, and then, you know, add like Willie or someone else
into the mix, but the benefit of having a squad, in addition to sharing the workload, you know, they
can also share some of those resources. So, maybe if you don't have a certain type of gear, a rope, or
whatever it is, someone else in your squad does, and you can kind of share gear, share knowledge,
and with respect to sharing knowledge, I know that someone that maybe I've never met before,
but I have a relationship with them online, most likely I can hit them up and say, hey,
can you give me some pointers on where this is at? You know, they may look into who I am, what I'm
about, and they may say, you know, don't give out the location of this place, because I know you
make videos and stuff like that, but they know they can take me at my word. They can tell that I'm
someone who appreciates nature, who takes care of it. I'm not vandalizing it. I'm leaving no trace.
A huge benefit to leaving no trace, in addition to just the fundamental aspect of it, of preserving
nature, taking care of the world around us. Another beautiful thing is that once other people
know that you leave no trace, that you take care of places, they are more willing to share hidden
places with you. I get hit up all the time on Instagram, oh, tell me where this place is,
tell me how to get to this place, and I would say nine times out of ten, I am not giving that
location out if it's a place that I have not shared publicly, because I just don't know you.
It's not personal. You're just not in my squad, and I will say this, I do research on people.
If someone hits me up and wants to know where a place is, I will look at your whatever, Instagram,
Facebook, whatever. I'll look at the type of person you are, what type of stuff are you posting.
A lot of times I don't like what I see, just you have no nature of pictures, you're just
maybe trying to flex or ball out, or I don't know what you're doing, or I've had a couple people hit
me up that want to know where places are, and they're like graffiti artists. Now, I have no
problem with graffiti, but I'm a little hesitant to share a beautiful hidden natural place to
someone that may potentially spray paint it, you know what I'm saying? So it's all about respect,
it's all about earning my trust, and I have to earn other people's trust, and
that is what the squad is all about. Whether you're part of a small squad or a big squad,
the values kind of transcend geography. So I know, I knew that I was going to love Mick and Pete.
The minute I saw their content, I knew what they were all about. Before I ever met them in person,
the 42 Adventure crew in Switzerland, I knew what they were all about.
They're a bunch of crazy guys who love to get after it, who love to find their own adventure,
and I went to Switzerland and I was right. You know, they share with me a few hidden places,
even though they weren't able to go with me because they had to work, and they knew I was
going to take care of them. They told me not to share the location, I didn't share the location,
and that's what it's all about, that bond that transcends geography. I know if someone's into
what I'm into, and they live on the other side of the world, that we are going to connect.
You know, I hooked up with Willie Price on YouTube. I saw one of his videos,
and he was just so pumped up about sliding headfirst down dirt, and I was like, this guy
is awesome. Just his enthusiasm, his willingness to get down and dirty, and the fact that he loved
the grind, he loved the adventure. I knew him and I would see eye to eye, and we do, and it's
finding people with those common values. Not just a love of nature, but an appreciation and enthusiasm
of it, and what goes along with that is preserving and protecting it, and so what I'm trying to do,
one of my main goals of this channel, you know, Team Infamous is an idea, a crazy idea I have to
just build like a massive squad, a massive crew, that you know, if you see the Team Infamous logo,
that we're all sharing the same values, you know. Why did I choose the Skull and Bones logo?
It's because life is short, and I am a walking corpse. We are all gonna die, so live each day
to the fullest, right? It's all about finding your own adventure, and so I really wanted to make this
something that if I saw someone wearing that, I know what they're all about. I know they're about
not only finding their own adventure, but they're also about respecting nature, and they're about
doing things that other people aren't willing to do. They slip, they fall, they get bruised and
battered, scraped, there's bugs, they're dirty, they're wet, they're cold, and they got a smile
on their face, and that's really what I'm hoping to build. Just something that transcends YouTube,
you know, a mentality, a passion for life, for finding your own adventure, for living each day
to the fullest. That's what I'm after, and it doesn't have to be, you know, under my branding
or whatever, but that's what I want for all of you. Anyone who's watching this video, I want all
of you to live a full life, an adventurous life with each day, with each breath, with each moment.
I want you to get out there, find your adventure, and be infamous. Infamous.
