Do you want to know how to find beautiful hidden places? Well in this video, I will show you how to do just that. This is the third video in a series where I teach you how to find beautiful hidden waterfalls, swimming holes and other amazing places in nature. I dive into a case study of a recent adventure by my buddy Kelvin back in California and talk about the techniques he used and discuss upcoming subjects for later videos. If you have any questions let me know in the comments below, and the best questions will be featured and answered in one of the final videos of this series.
I make outdoor adventure travel videos to inspire you to take your next trip and get outdoors. Life is short and there are so many interesting people, places and things to learn about and experience. Join me on my journey, SUBSCRIBE AND become a part of Team Infamous.
My name is Jesse St Louis (AKA Infamous JSL) and I'm an actor that likes to go on awesome adventures between gigs. I've been called a "no frills Bear Grylls" but mostly I've been called an Actor. Traveler. Smart-ass.
Welcome back to this series,
How to Find Hidden Beautiful Places, guys.
Today, I'm gonna give you a case study
on some of the stuff that I've been talking about,
and actually some of the stuff that I'll detail
in a couple later videos.
But today, I'm actually doing a case study
of my buddy Kelvin.
Some of you might remember him
if you saw the Natural Bridges of Calaveras County hike,
teamed up with Kelvin on that adventure.
And the reason why I wanted to team up with this guy
was I ended up following him on Instagram,
saw that he was getting out there,
finding his own adventure, finding hidden waterfalls,
and all the stuff that I am into.
So, you know, I hit him up.
I said, hey, this is my plan.
I'm gonna be in your neck of the woods.
Let's team up on an adventure.
And he was totally down,
and he is so enthusiastic about getting out there
and finding hidden beautiful spots.
And he makes some pretty cool videos as well, guys.
So I'm gonna link his Instagram and YouTube
in the description down below.
Definitely check his stuff out.
But I wanted to share this story with you guys
of a recent adventure that he went on
and found some epic swimming holes and hidden waterfalls.
So I'm just gonna recount the story that he told me online.
And this epic drone footage you're seeing
was provided by him, so that's his.
All credit for the drone footage goes to him,
but this is him and the story
of how they found these epic hidden natural spots.
That place is near a very popular spot
I'm not gonna tell you the spot.
He told me the name of the spot,
but I'm not gonna tell you the name of the spot.
We sometimes scan Google Earth up and downstream
near popular spots to find new spots away from the crowds.
Hmm, interesting.
Research, I'll be talking about that exact thing
in the video on research.
It was my friend Tony that sent me the coordinates
and told me to take a look on Google Earth.
On Google, they looked huge,
so we can only imagine what it looked like in person.
So we knew the terrain was level but heavy
and rock skipping and boulder climbing.
We decided to go check it out as far as halfway
and then to take out the drone to do the rest.
The drone to do the rest.
Using the drone for recon, excellent.
Which we did and got to see the falls through the drone.
We knew we were close and it was possible,
but we stopped at an area where we knew
we were gonna have to cross the river.
It was tricky, we were gonna need more equipment.
Recon, they knew they were gonna need more equipment.
Exactly, perfect.
We came back, this time with ropes and a dedicated team.
We never took track of the distance the first time we came,
so we thought seven to eight miles.
The second time we kept track and starting on the way back,
we were 25% into the hike back.
The watch stops recording distance before it dies
and it had us at 6.25 miles,
so we still don't know the exact mileage,
but it was way more than we thought.
There was no trail there.
A lot of time and walking was scouting for ways
and routes to make it around obstacles.
It was fun for the first few miles,
but it started to get harder.
By then, as far as we were,
we weren't turning back till we got there.
I like it, dedication.
The creek we went up was badass.
It had several hidden water holes
and small falls by the handful.
A big fall before the one we wanted to reach.
The whole area is amazing.
I never came out of a place with so much poison oak,
but it was worth it.
These are the coordinates.
He gives me the coordinates.
And you'll see the one before as well,
some after you follow the creek.
Now, he gave me the coordinates.
I'm not gonna give those coordinates to you guys.
That's part of something that I'll talk about later on
known as the squad.
You know, when you have a brotherhood of adventurers,
I shouldn't even say brotherhood.
When you have a squad or a team or a crew of adventurers,
because there's a lot of badass women out there
getting after it, finding their own adventure,
that's something that you can do.
You can share coordinates with someone that you trust,
that you know is a fellow nature enthusiast.
He's gonna take care of it.
He or she is gonna take care of it.
They're gonna leave no trace.
They're gonna be responsible.
That is something I will talk about in a later video.
But he touched on several of the things
we've covered already.
The bull in the china shop, Looky Lou, the recon,
and he also talked about research,
which coincidentally is the next video in this series.
So check out the next video on research
for how to find hidden beautiful places.
Check out Kelvin's channel.
In the meantime, get out there, find your adventure,
and be infamous.
Infamous.
