This is the place to be this weekend. There are thousands of people here.
It's super festive and so beautiful to see all these demonstration gardens.
Gardeners and garden companies put up these demonstration gardens. There's about 30 of them
and they get prizes for the best ones in different categories. This festival is so
much fun especially if you love plants and it's been around for 53 years.
It's so fun to see everybody celebrating plants. Everybody goes home with some new
awesome plant and the last time we were here was three years ago and I actually bought these
beautiful flowers and one of them I could never figure out the name of it so I actually want to
see if I can find that vendor and figure out what that flower is called. Let's go see all these
amazing exhibits and then go see the flowers for sale. These gardens are so cool to see
and it's really fun to go shopping for plants. You can find any plant you could imagine.
Let's go see what plants we can find for sale.
This place is so amazing. It's a great place to get rare plants especially like rare fruits.
Some people say it's really hard to find grosella which is a tree that I have that I got for my aunt
and here they're selling grosellas which are like little berries that you can make candies out of.
There's lots of herbs. There's plantain, banana, we saw eggplant and some rare
fruits that I had never heard of before. I have to go show you those. You want to see them?
Cool let's go see them.
So here's some amazing rare fruits I've never heard of. One is called peanut butter fruit.
There's guayabilla and
peely nut and a lot of ones that you might have heard of but they're very tropical
and a red grapefruit, lychee fruits. This one I'm very curious about peanut butter fruit. It looks
really cool. And of course if you like orchids this is going to be paradise. There's every kind
of orchid you can imagine plus more. They're so beautiful and a flower that I'm looking for right
now is a mandevilla vine which is a vine that has a beautiful flower and I think it would be great
to grow up our house because we had a passion flower vine on our house but it kind of took
over our room so I think this would be a much better option. Here's one. What do you think of
the color? A really interesting plant that you can get here is carnivorous plants. They have a ton
of carnivorous plants from pitcher plants to other ones. I'm not sure which one this one is
but it looks really cool. Look how cool they are. They're so Jurassic. Oh look there's some Venus
flytraps. So now we're going to get something to drink and eat. There's so many options here.
This looks delicious. It looks like a passion fruit lemonade and it's so hot out. I'm so excited
to get something refreshing and cold. I'm so excited to try this. It looks so refreshing.
Look at all the lemon and passion fruit seeds at the bottom.
It's so good. Like natural lemonade and passion fruit.
It's so delicious. Okay let's look for something to eat. Let's see what we got.
Standing in line for the giant bacalitos. I'm super excited. I have to say this festival is
so well organized. Even the bathrooms were well organized. There was somebody like
checking a stall and making sure that you knew which stall to go into and directing traffic.
This is an amazing festival. It's definitely my favorite one.
If you've never seen one before, a bacalito is like a cod fritter. It's like a fried
dough fish chip thing and it's so delicious, salty, savory.
Let's try it. Best snack. I love these snacks.
This garden is easily my favorite. It's so cool. This is by Jurassic Plants.
Look at the mist coming out and all these amazing huge carnivorous plants.
And with the little pond. This is fabulous. We had an amazing festival de las flores in
Ibonito. If you're here this week, you've got to check it out. They're open until July 9th
and if you can't make it this year, they have the festival every summer. It's one of our favorite
festivals in Puerto Rico. It's amazing to see the beautiful culture and see people out
with their families enjoying flowers and plants.
