Beauty, tranquility, safety. We've traveled around Puerto Rico to investigate which beaches are the
safest and most fun. In this video we'll be sharing our top 10 beaches. Researched, personally tested
and family approved. Puerto Rico, bright green gem of the Caribbean, is framed by warm bright blue
waters that invite you to dive in. But with over 200 beaches to choose from, where should you start?
In this video we're going to show you some of the safest most beautiful beaches in Puerto Rico.
As far as safety goes, the most important thing to know is that while Puerto Rico is warm all year
round, ocean conditions can become rougher from November to March. With many beaches developing
strong surf and dangerous undertoes. A few years ago we made another video about safe beaches which
you can see at the link above. These places are all still great choices but we just wanted to
make an updated version to introduce you to even more amazing beaches. As a quick disclaimer we'd
like to remind you to always check weather conditions before visiting a beach. Here are
two really helpful links. One to check weather conditions and one to check water quality.
Without further ado let's dive in. Let's get started with Seven Seas, a beach that's popular
for its calm waters and festive atmosphere. It's the perfect place to enjoy an iconic piña colada
in a pineapple. We're here at Seven Seas Beach in Fajardo. This is often recommended to us
as one of the safest and calmest beaches in the east coast of Puerto Rico. As you can see the
water here is so beautiful, turquoise blue and there's so much shade which is one of the major
pros to this beach. There's a lot of really big pine, beautiful pine trees and other trees that
you can actually sit under and have shade. It's also another thing you can do here at Seven Seas.
If you go to the far left there's actually a hiking trail to two other hidden beaches
that are not safe for swimming but they're really beautiful to just explore and do photography at.
Some great things about this beach are that it has a ton of amenities. There's a lot of parking
and there are several different little restaurants and drink bars right on the beach
and there are bathrooms and the parking is paid by card so you don't have to bring cash.
Oh there are also showers.
Next we'll travel west to Playa Sardinera in Atillo. This is one of my personal favorites
due to its gorgeous landscape with rugged boulders creating a long natural pool adorned
with sparkling ocean waterfalls. Today we're at Playa Sardinera in Atillo on the north coast of
Puerto Rico. As you can see today we have some pretty strong surf and we're actually under a surf
advisory. So we're gonna see how safe this beach is the worst that it can get in the winter.
So the nice thing about this beach is on the far right it has a huge natural pool that's only like
two feet deep that you can play in with your kids. So we're gonna see if we feel any currents in there
how safe it feels. We love this beach because it's so beautiful here and you can even do some
shore snorkeling because there's lots of tropical fish in there. Let's go see how crazy this water
feels. The long shoreline of this beach means that you can find your own little stretch of
paradise to enjoy away from the crowds. Just bring a beach umbrella or a big hat because there's very
little shade. This beach does have porta parties, parking and restaurants within walking distance
for your convenience. When the currents aren't too strong this is actually a great place to
beginners to snorkel. Our toddler loves to splash around in the shallow pools and run and run along
the powder soft white sand. So I actually think it is pretty safe to swim here today as long as
you stay on the right side and you don't go too deep. I think it's I mean you can see people are
enjoying it. It's super shallow there is a little bit of a current so if you're gonna go snorkeling
make sure you have your fins and just remember if you get swept away you can always stand up
because it's so shallow and the water here is always clear even when the currents really strong.
At number eight we have the magical natural pools or positas of Isabela which are true wonders of
nature. There are many natural pools in northwest Puerto Rico. The three that we consider to be
consistently the safest include Posita de Montones, Poza Golondrinas and Pozo Teodoro.
We're here in the beautiful town of Isabela. This town has multiple positas or natural pools
that you can visit and this is just one of them. This one is Posita de Montones.
Something really important to know about Isabela is that it actually has these beautiful positas
but also other larger beaches which in the winter are not safe. Actually last night we heard
helicopters going by looking for somebody that they reported might have drowned and far to that
side there's a beach called Hobos Beach which is known for having a lot of drownings
so really be careful if you come to Isabela and pick one of these safer positas.
Welcome me to Poza Las Golondrinas and to walk there you go through this little path from the road.
This is another really beautiful pozo or natural pool that is protected by a reef.
So something about these pozos is they have pretty much street parking. Pozo Los Montones
you can actually pay via El Mar House to park there which is convenient and they also have
a restaurant and this one you have to park on the street. Teodoro you have some parking close
to the boardwalk that you walk on to get to it. This is Pozo Teodoro. This is one of our
favorite natural pools in Isabela. As you can see it's super beautiful with all the rocks
and it's shallow enough that it's safe but it's also deep enough that you can really get in and
swim. This is so pretty. The whole area is really really pretty and it depends on the day
how safe the whole area is but as you can see today is a really strong surf day
and this is a really safe option. So it's a great place to bring
babies and toddlers just have a really relaxing beautiful day.
We've been all over the island but where can you indulge in calm crystal clear water right in the
heart of San Juan? If you blink you might miss it the Playita del Condado across the bridge from
Condado Lagoon. This is the Playita del Condado. It's one of the only safe beaches to swim in in
Condado itself and it's one of my absolute favorite beaches to visit in Puerto Rico even
though I've been all over the entire island because the water is always so calm and clear
all year round and under the surface there is amazing biodiversity. So let's go for a snorkel
and see what we can find today. Due to the efforts of Estuario this lagoon has experienced
a vibrant revival of biodiversity in the last decade due to the installation of artificial reef
modules which have encouraged dozens of species of fish and invertebrates to make their homes here.
Some amazing animals you can see in the lagoon include spotted eagle rays, sea turtles and even
manatees. The Laguna del Condado is a very special place where a beautiful family of manatees has
grown over the years. Remember if you see manatees to always keep your distance and don't follow them
if they swim away. In recent years new eco-friendly businesses have developed on this beach
including glass bottom paddleboard and kayak rentals and snorkel tours. If you guys didn't
bring your own equipment to Puerto Rico you can actually get snorkel tours right here at the
Playita del Condado and this is information it's Champion Snorkel Tours and we'll post a link to that.
If you're like me and you prefer to experience the ocean from below the surface
you'll love beach number six which offers the opportunity to snorkel over a coral reef
right from the shore. The Black Eagle Beach in Rincon. This is one of the calmest beaches in
Rincon especially in the winter and the water is super clear. I also heard that there's snorkeling
over there to that side and I see some people snorkeling so I think I'm gonna go give it a try
and Vesper sure is enjoying playing in the waves here. So if you're in Rincon you should definitely
check out this beach it's very vibrant the water is so beautiful and clear. Overall this beach is
safe for the whole family as it has calm waters and a long stretch of soft sand to play on. While
the beach itself doesn't have bathrooms there are many cute shops and restaurants right up the street
and there's plenty of parking. While this beach appears as Black Eagle in maps applications it's
known by locals as the marina. This place was recommended to us by our friend Cassie at Life
Transplanet who lives in Rincon. If you're interested in learning about more fun activities
to do in Rincon check out their channel. To snorkel the reef enter the water from the left of the boat
dock then swim straight out parallel to the rocky shoreline on the far right. You will easily find
a vibrant shallow reef full of tropical fish of all colors and shapes. If you're lucky you may
even see a sea turtle or a nurse shark. Please remember to never touch or stand on the corals
and always wear reef safe sunscreen. If you'd like to go in a group for extra safety snorkeling tours
are available from local companies. So today I actually found out that this beach is like one
of the best beaches to snorkel in the mainland Puerto Rico area during the winter. There's a huge
reef over there and it's so easy to get to from right from here from the boat ramp. You can bring
your own equipment. It is amazing. Sea fans, tree shaped corals. I saw a nurse shark. It was so cool.
This is definitely one of the best clear water beaches all year round in Puerto Rico even in
the winter and it's one of the I would say one of the top five places to go snorkeling. It is so
amazing. For beach number five we're going to the southeast of the island to Playa Combate in Cabo
Rojo. One of the safest beaches to visit all year round because as you can see it's super calm
and the place where we are actually has all these little gazebos so if you get here early
you're gonna have a nice shady place to hang out. Playa Combate has a vibrant festive atmosphere
with plentiful food trucks and many restaurants right by the beach. If you have kids it's nice
to know they can play in the sand without a huge wave knocking them over since the water is almost
always very calm. Overall Combate is a wonderful place to have a refreshing swim or just relax with
friends while enjoying a delicious drink and snacks. Now let's make a quick stop at another
amazing beach in Cabo Rojo, Balneario Boqueron. Now we're at Balneario Boqueron. This is a balneario
so it has plenty of parking and real bathrooms. This is a beautiful beach. We love coming here
because it's a long stretch of white sand. It's so fun to play with your kids because the water is
super shallow and calm. There's not a lot of waves or currents. The only reason we didn't put this
beach at the top of our list this time is because it's known for having jellyfish from November to
January which is their breeding season and I actually got stung by a jellyfish here once
and they're really little like clear jellyfish so they're hard to see but they can give you a pretty
powerful sting. So just to keep that in mind if you're here during the winter and make sure you
wear like long rash guards maybe pants if you're going to go swimming deep in the water. A few
moments later. So yeah I did get stung by a jellyfish a couple times. I think it got caught
under my hair but it was my fault because I forgot to bring my rash guard from the car and we didn't
have much time to swim but it was still really really fun to snorkel. There's actually a little
reef around this area that has a lot of fish in it and the water was so clear and so beautiful today.
So definitely Palmeiro Boqueron has to be in our top five. It's so beautiful all year
round. It's so fun and safe to bring your kids and it's always great if you want to snorkel a little bit.
Now we jump to the south coast of the island to the nature lover's town of Juanica.
If you love nature and really want to disconnect from city life you should absolutely make the
trip to Playa La Jungla within the dry forest of Juanica. Today we're at a beach that we consider
to be one of the absolute safest beaches all year round and this is Playa La Jungla in Juanica.
This beach is in the dry forest of Juanica which is a state forest and it's just an amazingly
beautiful experience to be in nature like this. This beach is open from Tuesday to Sunday.
There is a gate you have to go through and you pay for parking two dollars per person.
If safety is your top concern the beaches of Juanica are a great bet for you. The reason we
didn't rate this beach a little higher on the list was because it has absolutely no bathrooms,
no amenities. It's pretty far from the town but it's so beautiful and if you want to experience
it like a local bring some beach chairs and a picnic to enjoy so you're gonna have an amazing
day here. Let's check out another beach in Juanica that's also very safe but a little closer to
Juanica actually has a lot of really safe beaches all year round because it's protected. It's the
Caribbean Sea and this beach is so calm and beautiful and has so much white sand to play in
and also there's some areas with trees so there's a little bit of shade. We are loving this beach.
It's so beautiful. This is a great place to come swim and just play in the sand. Some of the pros
to this beach are that there's a lot of parking that wraps around the beach area and there are
also some amenities. There is a kayak rental, there are some like free tourist stands where
you can get some fried yummy snacks and you can also buy some floaties for your kids on the way.
This is in a beautiful location and there's actually a lot of hotels in Juanica if you're
interested in staying around here. At Roadtails our priority is your safety which is why we
meticulously research every video. If you're enjoying this video please subscribe to our
channel. Don't leave us hanging. Drum roll please as we arrive at our number one
favorite safe beach in Puerto Rico, Balneario Puerto Nuevo.
Right now we're in Balneario Puerto Nuevo in Vega Baja. This beach is so beautiful and it's really
safe for little kids because there's this huge natural pool right here that's really shallow
through the whole thing and it has little fish that they can go around and try to find. This
beach has this beautiful natural pool that kids can explore and also has a huge beach on that side
that gets a little bit deeper and has some great snorkeling especially in the summer.
You can actually find sea turtles there all year round if you're an experienced snorkeler. Some
great things about this beach are that it has great amenities. It has bathrooms, a lot of parking
and there are some restaurants really close nearby in the area. If you want to experience
this beach on a little more tranquil time we recommend coming on a weekday or early in the
morning on a weekend. Balneario Puerto Nuevo is only an hour drive from San Juan to enter a
completely new world. A world of extraordinary contrasts, fantastical bright turquoise blues
and light tans, soft sand and rugged rocks, warm sun and cool delicious water.
If you love snorkeling you can often find sea turtles at the far left of the main beach over
the seagrass fields. On the day of filming I actually saw five. Just make sure not to
chase them outside the roped off swimming area where they could get hit by jet skis.
Snorkeling in these delightful waters is both relaxing and exhilarating.
Playa Puerto Nuevo is a super relaxing and gorgeous place to spend the day with your family.
Thank you so much for experiencing these beaches with us and now we want to hear from you.
Do you agree with our top five choices? Which beach would you add to or take off the list?
We hope that whether you live on the island or are visiting for the first time
that this video helps you find safe and breathtaking beaches to enjoy.
Go out, live, explore and create unforgettable memories.
