Welcome to Shinshiten News.
A professor at Santo-Ringi University posted on social media his experience of delivering food delivery at the end of last year.
In the article, he said that the total income of delivering food delivery per hour was 10 yen, which is about 200 yen, and that it was very difficult.
The professor of the Faculty of Literature posted an article on August 23 in which he said,
I am delivering food delivery at Santo-Ringi University in the winter of 2022.
This article attracted attention on the platform of China Mainland.
Many media reported to him, and Bilibili, a video sharing site, also produced a video to introduce his experience as a deliveryman.
Mr. Keihin made it clear in the article that at the end of December 2022, he had registered in several food delivery companies, including gourmet, knife repair, and war.
As a result of the comparison, the market share found that gourmet was the highest and the most severe.
After that, the war was relatively calm, but there were not many sales.
In Bilibili, the deliverymen are divided into three levels.
The dedicated deliverymen go to work at 9 a.m. every day, and in fact they are often later, but they leave work at 9 p.m.
They carry out orders from the delivery system, and each order costs 3 to 4 yen, about 60 to 80 yen.
They are allowed to take a four-day break every month, but they are not allowed to take any other breaks, and they must report on which day they will take a break a week in advance.
Even on windy days, it is required to deliver at the correct time.
If you receive a low rating, you will be fined 200 to 500 yen, about 4000 to 10,000 yen.
The normal fine is 500 yen, about 10,000 yen.
In Bilibili, the dedicated deliverymen have to work 12 to 14 hours a day, 26 to 28 days a month.
On average, they can earn 6,000 yen, about 120,000 yen.
In particular, people who work hard can earn 8,000 yen, about 160,000 yen or more.
To put it bluntly, their income is 50 km in the city, ignoring traffic lights, and risking their lives.
Compared to the dedicated deliverymen, the non-dedicated deliverymen are in an even more difficult situation, and are placed in the lowest rank, the third rank.
Low-rate orders often only get a 30% delivery rate, and this is usually an order that the dedicated deliveryman does not want to choose.
These orders usually have to be delivered to a far or inconvenient place, and sometimes they have to be delivered to the 6th floor of an apartment without an elevator.
The most hard-working non-dedicated deliveryman works 15 to 16 hours a day and does not have a day off for a month, but can earn 7,000 yen, about 140,000 yen.
Mr. Keihin contacted hundreds of stores in a month, visited more than 2,000 houses, and delivered more than 2,000 orders.
On average, he drove 210 km on a motorcycle every day, walked 32,000 steps, and climbed the stairs 110 times.
If you think about the total income for a month, the average income per hour is 10 yen, about 200 yen, and the limit is 20 yen, about 400 yen.
Mr. Keihin pointed out that the delivery company has very strict requirements for the deliveryman during the month.
In particular, he pointed out that there are strict conditions for insurance.
I won't say the name of the company here, but he talked about some of the companies he worked for.
If a deliveryman has an accident, he will be charged 3 yen per day, or about 60 yen, for insurance.
Among them, 40% of insurance companies only pay 1.2 yen, or about 24 yen.
This insurance amount guarantees a maximum of 6,000 yen, or about 120,000 yen, in paid insurance.
If there is a shortage, the local operators will be burdened.
If there is a shortage of medical expenses, the local operators will run away.
Even if you appeal, you will not be able to find an opponent.
The headquarters of the delivery company will not be the target.
Even if you appeal to the city's operators, they will not succeed.
It's all in the form of commission work, and they are protecting themselves.
Serious accidents occur every month in the city.
Even if a deliveryman is fired, it has nothing to do with the headquarters of the delivery company.
Even if you appeal, you will only spend useless money.
Out of all the people who appealed, not a single person has been fired.
According to a survey of deliverymen who were announced on February 2, 2023,
24.9% of the deliverymen participated in the survey.
According to the survey, deliverymen work an average of 6.4 days a week and an average of 9.8 hours a day.
Of these, 61.6% of deliverymen work 7 days a week,
and 55.1% work an average of 8 to 10 hours a day.
36.7% of deliverymen work an average of 10 hours a day or more.
In addition, among the unpleasant experiences that deliverymen encounter at work,
the main reason is occupational discrimination, and the percentage is 36%.
During delivery, Mr. Keihin was asked to throw away a large garbage bag in the hallway from some customers,
and he was not paid for it.
This was an unpleasant experience for him.
When he says, this is not my job,
the other party asks if you want to receive a good rating,
and threatens that if you receive a bad rating, you will be fined.
He had no choice but to throw away the garbage of the customers.
This happens frequently.
One time, he received two orders at the same time,
and delivered one order according to the requirements of the delivery system,
and then delivered the fruits to the building where his family lives.
It was a young man in his teens who opened the door,
and he pushed him against the wall,
and he said in very aggressive words,
why he had to go around the apartment and then deliver.
This young man's parents also stood up and insulted him.
Now, many people are working as deliverymen.
This is related to the employment situation in society.
Employment, unemployment, and job opportunities in mainland China are closely linked.
On April 28, 2021,
according to a report released by the head of the Portal Group,
the number of foreign delivery workers on the main platform in China reached 10 million,
and there were 5.27 million delivery workers in the US alone.
In addition, 970,000 new delivery workers were added in one year,
and 6.24 million in 2022.
According to the report,
due to the delay in the actual economy and recovery of consumption in Japan,
the employment environment is bad and job opportunities are decreasing,
and many people are forced into the delivery industry.
Even in the education and training industries alone,
tens of millions of employees are losing their livelihood.
This puts pressure on other industries' employees as well.
The real estate industry is the same.
If there are more employees in the real estate industry,
the situation of competition in other industries will also change.
According to the report, if an industry disappears,
the entire society will have to intervene in the employment of its workers.
This is the power of the market.
Those who oppose the principles and principles of the market
will ultimately have to pay a price for all individuals in the market.
And it is inevitable for many people to choose delivery workers as their occupation.
One delivery worker once said that
physical labor in a delivery center,
farming in a house that can't make money,
and labor in a construction site with little pay
are the most difficult jobs, including food delivery.
Out of all the food delivery workers that Mr. Keihin contacted within a month,
the oldest was 66 years old, and there were many female delivery workers.
Even if they work hard for a month,
they can only earn about ¥3000 to ¥4000, or about ¥60,000 to ¥80,000.
In recent months,
Mr. Keihin has seen many women and older delivery workers
hurry to deliver their orders.
In their homes,
there is a waiting list of household loans from the elderly,
children, and sick people, and banks.
Whether it's dangerous, painful, or tiring,
they can't get away from the ¥3000 to ¥4000,
or the ¥60,000 to ¥80,000 income.
This is their current situation.
