Hey, Duc Anh. Do you know how many points Toan got this year?
Oh, I do. I don't know.
I don't think Toan got 9 points.
But no one believes me.
Wow, that's high. I only got 8.5.
But it's okay, because normally I don't get that high.
So, Duc Anh, how many points did you get?
I... I didn't see it.
Ah, maybe this time I got a low score.
You're so naive. And you're so modest.
I think you got 10, right?
Besides him, who else?
He always got high scores in every exam.
If he got a low score, then we all got low scores, right?
You're back from school?
Yes.
You got a test today, right?
Yes.
How many points did you get?
Well...
Ah, I didn't get any, mom.
I don't know either.
Toan went to his room.
I don't know either.
Why do we always get low scores?
We go to school to get knowledge, not to get high scores.
It will affect not only your mental health, but also your grades.
So, how can we solve this problem
and turn it into motivation to help students who are about to take the exam?
That's the story of today's show.
Let's talk to two guests.
First, I'd like to introduce Dr. Pham Manh Ha
from Thanh Thieu Nien University, Vietnam.
And Nguyen Diep Anh is a student from Tran Phu High School, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
We've just watched the first part of the show.
We can see that a male student,
even though he's good at studying,
he's still under pressure to get high scores and take the exam.
So, Diep Anh, do you think this situation is familiar to you or your friends?
I think this situation is quite familiar to my daily life.
I'm also under a lot of pressure to take the exam.
For example, in the exam period,
or in the transition period.
So, Diep Anh, what do you think is the most important exam
that puts a lot of pressure on you and the students?
I think it's the third year exam that I've just experienced.
Because the third year exam is the first step to mark my future.
That's Diep Anh's opinion.
We'll watch the next part of the interview
to see what exam is the most important exam of your life.
Let's watch the next part of the interview.
I think the third year exam is much more important than the university exam.
We can take the university exam again next year.
I feel the most pressure for the university exam.
Because the university exam is...
I think the most stressful exam is the transition exam.
I'm under a lot of pressure to get high scores.
We've just watched the interview.
Why do you feel the pressure?
The educational background in Vietnam.
When we train students,
we always recruit students who are not very capable.
This adds to our Vietnamese mentality,
which is high-level mentality.
It means that we have to get to level 3 at all costs.
Or we have to go to university.
The second factor is our education.
We are very strict.
In every exam,
we only base it on the ability to study.
If you get to level 3, you have to study.
If you go to university, you have to study.
The fact that we choose to evaluate the science subjects
increases your pressure many times.
Besides that, do you feel that
other than external factors,
is it because the students themselves put pressure on you?
I think so.
Here we see that
those who are under pressure
are either overestimating or underestimating their ability.
If you overestimate your ability,
you will think that
you will be able to get over it at all costs.
But you underestimate your ability.
For example, I can't get over this exam.
This exam is very difficult.
And because of that negative mentality,
you will be under more pressure before the exam.
Thirdly, you often overestimate or over-emphasize the problem.
You think that you don't have the ability and opportunity to fix it.
Another thing that puts pressure on you is being overconfident.
When you get close to the exam,
you start to find that
math or other exercises are too difficult.
You can't get over your ability.
Because you have to have enough time to practice
before you can pass the exam.
So you start to panic.
This pressure will have a great impact on students' health and mental health.
Let's watch a live broadcast of the program
to see how this pressure affects you.
Let's watch.
According to the statistics of the Children's Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City,
in 2012, the number of children coming to the hospital was 28,000.
In 2013, the number increased to 32,000.
In early 2014, the number increased to 14,000.
Each year, the number of patients increases,
especially during the exam season.
All the children who come here have different psychological and mental symptoms,
such as anxiety disorder.
Some of them have depression.
We have just watched the live broadcast
and we can see that the impact of the exam on young people is not small at all.
How do you feel, Diep Anh?
Have you ever encountered such a situation?
During the exam period, I felt a lot of pressure, a lot of fatigue.
It made me feel dizzy and stressed.
During the transition period, I almost always lacked sleep.
I just hoped that the exam period would pass quickly.
After watching the live broadcast and hearing Diep Anh's sharing,
how do you think you can help parents and teachers
to realize that students are under too much pressure to pass the exam?
The first thing that parents and teachers can see
is the change in their mood.
They become tired, stressed, and feel very bored.
Secondly, they change their daily life.
For example, they wake up too late or too early.
They don't eat well.
Another sign that parents have to realize
is the changes in their health.
For example, if a student or a student's stomach is full,
or if they don't eat well,
that is one of the signs that a student is under stress.
Another sign is psychological.
Parents can immediately see that students are tired.
They are exhausted and don't want to do anything else
but just want to sleep.
Secondly, they become emotional.
They close their eyes and don't want to talk to anyone.
They gain weight and sweat.
Those are the signs that a student is under pressure to pass the exam.
Diep, do you know that this year's entrance exam
has changed a lot?
Has it helped you in any way?
The change has helped me
feel more comfortable preparing for the exam.
I don't have to worry about not getting a high score
or not being able to pass the exam.
I only know my score after the exam.
Then I can choose the school that suits me
and my preferences.
Mr. Ha, with the changes in the Ministry of Education and Training
regarding the entrance exam rules this year,
do you think it has reduced the pressure on students?
Yes, the change can be said to be very positive.
It can help students to focus
and reduce the pressure on students
because they have more options to choose from.
Mr. Ha, do you have any advice or advice
to help students reduce the pressure on the exam?
You should prepare for a long-term study plan.
For example, from now on, you can only go to 10th grade.
But if you prepare early,
you can practice early.
Secondly, if you have studied hard
and you still have bad grades,
you have to change your study plan.
Another thing is that you have to think positively.
The entrance exam or the transfer exam
can be the highlight of your life.
However, if you don't pass this highlight,
you still have a chance to move on.
It's not because you failed
that your life will end here.
When you are under pressure,
what kind of support do you want from your family?
My family encourages me
when I am under pressure.
They tell me that I don't need to expect too much.
I just need to study comfortably
and take the exam comfortably
to achieve what I want.
Mr. Ha, do you have any advice for parents
when their children are under pressure?
We should care, share, and love our children.
We encourage our children to choose the environment
and the job they want.
Don't do it just because you want it.
Secondly, parents should also
help their children with their studies.
If it directly affects their health,
parents should never criticize
or criticize
because it will make them think
that they can't overcome the pressure.
Therefore, when parents and teachers
really care about their children,
it will make it easier for them
to overcome the pressure.
Thank you, Mr. Ha, for sharing
the benefits you brought to our show today.
Thank you for participating in the show.
Ladies and gentlemen,
the exam season is coming,
and the hard days of the exam
will become memories
for students
to remember a time full of dreams.
I hope that today's show
has provided you with more information
to help you prepare
for the upcoming exam
so that you can pass it.
I wish you success.
Thank you for watching
today's show.
If you have any comments,
please contact the show's website.
Goodbye and see you again.
Drink some milk.
You look very thin lately.
I look normal, mom.
I've been too busy lately.
I don't have much time to care about you.
I know you're taking the exam.
You're under a lot of pressure.
If you need my help, just tell me.
Mom, I have something to tell you.
What is it?
I promise that
if you tell me, I won't blame you.
It's okay. Just tell me.
I'm sorry for lying to you.
I know the answer
and I only got 8 points.
I don't want to upset you,
so I don't dare to tell you.
I know how you feel.
But it's okay.
The important thing is
you have to keep your spirit up
so you can continue to take the exam.
Scoring is not everything.
Anyway,
we're very proud of you.
Yes, mom.
Thank you so much.
