When you walk through the city, when you look at the news, when you look at the political scene,
how has Germany changed since 2015?
In one point, and this point worries me a lot, it hasn't been long, Mr. Schuler,
a country has put its arm around my neck.
It has said, Mr. Bosbach, we can't do it anymore.
Today, I have assigned 361 refugees for the entire district.
The mayors no longer know where they can accommodate them.
Do something, do something, you have influence.
And while he was speaking, he became quieter and looked around to see if anyone had heard him.
This is the situation in Germany in 2023.
If someone openly talks about migration problems, they are immediately put in the right corner.
Then you are still somewhat lucky.
If you are unlucky, you are a Nazi.
And that's where the misfortune starts, if you don't want to recognize problems anymore
or if you no longer speak openly about it because you are afraid of being put in the right corner.
At that time, Horst Seehofer received a lot of criticism for saying once,
migration is the mother of all problems.
He was treated badly, inhuman and so on.
Do we underestimate the social impact of migration?
People from the outside are interfering in our history, they have to be integrated.
They need apartments, they need kindergartens.
Of course, they bring their culture with them.
Do we often take it too lightly?
It's not about the question of migration, yes or no.
In our history, we have always had migration.
We have it today and we will have it in the future.
That's the truth.
In the past, mostly people came who we needed when recruiting guest workers.
But in recent decades, mostly people from completely different cultural circles have come.
Even the sentence, we have to integrate them, is weird.
If I go to another country, for whatever reason, do I have to integrate myself?
In the social conditions of the country, the law and order must be accepted.
But if there is a lack of will to integrate, a lack of integration power,
then you can make as many integration efforts as the father of my son-in-law.
He emigrated from Turkey many decades ago.
There were no language courses, there were no integration courses.
That was integration through work.
There was the shovel and there was the construction site.
That's where the buddies for integration took care of.
Today we have an incredible offer of state integration aid,
which I expressly welcome.
And we taboo that some people lack the ability to integrate,
also the will to integrate.
These are the problems.
Who are the people who make sure that the state council has to lower its voice?
These are the people who say, or who could say,
oh, our state council has ...
That's how it works, it's always said abominably about foreigners.
Not the problems that others don't have at all, except for those who are responsible.
Berlin has good speech.
All the responsibility is not in the Chancellery or in the Reichstag building,
not even in the Federal Constitution.
All the responsibility is borne by the municipalities,
by the mayors and by the councillors who have reached the borders.
Of course, they don't want to pile up auxiliary buildings either.
They don't want to build sound halls
because they've already had all of that once.
And above all, Mr. Schuler, this is a very important point.
There is no end in sight.
When the weather gets worse, when autumn comes,
the numbers will rise rather than fall.
Before the elections, Henrik Wüst welcomed the Muezzin call
and said it was a good sign for the integration of Muslims.
Is it good news for Germany when Germany becomes more Islamic?
So that the Muslims belong to Germany,
that they are part of our society,
yes, I have no doubt about that at all.
We also have religious freedom in Germany.
Anyone can practice their faith.
This distinguishes our country from many countries
where Islam is a state religion,
where Christians are not even allowed to have a religious or cultural minimum of existence.
With the Muezzin call, I see it differently,
although I can understand
that my minister-president is expressing himself positively.
Then he doesn't get angry either.
I find it interesting again and again that it is said
that the Muezzin call is nothing more than the bell ringing of the Christian churches.
Yes, why?
The Muezzin call is a publicly announced confession of faith.
The church bell says, in 15 minutes the worship or mass begins.
But that is a belief, an Islamic confession of faith,
that Allah is the only God.
And the excitement that we had at the beginning in Cologne has now settled.
It is hardly noticeable.
It's all very, very moderate here.
That is why at the moment it is rather invented under the guise of noise protection as unproblematic.
But the Muezzin call is something different than the bell ringing.
That was Schuler Fragen, what about Wolfgang Bosbach?
The whole conversation, also about the details of how to protect borders,
what is going wrong in immigration policy and what could be done better,
you can watch on www.news.de, N-I-U-S.
And take a look, it really turned out to be a great conversation.
