There are certain things you need to do in order to maintain your riding lawn mower. Checking and changing spark plugs is one of these tasks. This video shows step by step how to complete this task.
Welcome back guys. It's the tightwad and today. We are discussing lawnmower maintenance. I'm working on my
Cub cadet
Residential zero turn 50 inch mower and I've been doing some lawnmower maintenance and the next step in the process is to replace the spark plugs
this particular mower has two spark plugs, but many riding mowers only have one and even if you don't have this brand or
Make model of mower you can still use the tips in this video because all spark plugs change the same way
This particular mower is a twin engine mower so as a spark plug on this side and another spark plug on this side
We'll remove those and check them and see if I need to replace the spark plugs
Spark plugs have a protective cover on the outside of them
It's also how the electrical current gets transferred to the spark plug, but it just pulls right off now
You need a deep socket that will fit the spark plug and go all the way down in there and remove it from the engine
compartment I
have my
socket in place
put my ratchet on it and
adjust it and
These are standard threads so righty-tighty lefty-loosey
Go back on there a little bit more
And screw it the rest of the way and
You'll see that it's very corroded on the end. It is still working fine, so I could leave it
but since I have the other ones now, I'll go ahead and put them on instead and
They just screw right back into the hole
All right
then you just take the cap and
Secure it back down over the top make sure you feel it go all the way on and
You're good to go repeat the process on the other side and your spark plugs are changed
This is one of the easier things to do on a mower if you have the correct tools
One thing you need to keep in mind is that all spark plugs are not the same
Make sure you match up your model number from your manufacturers website, and you can buy an aftermarket spark plug
I recommend getting a name brand that you recognize, but you don't have to get the exact same brand that was in there
You just need to make sure you match up the numbers
