Hello, guys! Welcome to this new format, something between reviews and podcasts.
We got long-awaited roadways. Yes, by the way, this is Gosha, everyone who regularly watches his trips knows him.
Who is on the reviews for the first time is Georgy, my comrade-in-arms in bicycle crafts, and not only.
So, we got two roadways, and we realized that there is not so much information for a separate review,
because we have already discussed a lot of different things this year.
We looked at the A2 roadway, we looked at the CRM roadway, and there are a lot of changes to make a separate review.
But there is also something to talk about. Therefore, welcome to such a mini-review podcast.
Before we go deeper into the chatter, we will immediately mark some important and solid numbers.
Roadway is a logical continuation of the Hardway line, and the oldest bike from Hardway is the A2 Hardway.
At the moment it costs about 70,000 rubles, the A2 roadway behind my back costs about 80,000 rubles,
and the A1 roadway is the oldest of all these bicycles, about 90,000 rubles it currently costs.
We will not go deeper into the scenario of using aluminum roadways now,
because I analyzed this issue in detail in one of the recent videos, where we talked about steel and aluminum roadways.
Therefore, if you need to understand why these bicycles are used and where to ride them,
welcome there, the link will be in the description.
Let's start by considering the differences between these bicycles.
Let's start with the differences from Hardway in general, what has changed,
and then let's see how A1 differs from A2 already in the context of roadways.
The first is the axles.
Gosha will speak about the axles, because I, to be honest, with all the variety of bicycles that I have,
some bicycles on axles, some bicycles on eccentrics, I see a big difference.
In addition to the fact that when you remove the wheel on a bicycle with an axle and put it back,
you do not need to re-adjust the brake.
With eccentrics, sometimes you have to catch it.
Otherwise, I don't see a difference, I don't press so hard,
and I honestly don't feel this ephemeral rigidity that a bicycle on axles has.
But there is a person who feels it.
Well, first of all, you said the truth, it is really very convenient.
That is, in disc brakes, the use of axles is a must-have.
That is, if we are talking about ordinary road-clutch brakes, then without problems, eccentric is great.
But in disc brakes, the axles really give this stability, the installation of a simple wheel.
And again, maybe this is not so obvious, this is a difference.
Really good frames on eccentrics are not inferior in rigidity.
But in fact, the bike feels more beaten if it is on axles.
That is, both in the front and in the rear.
That is, the axis is larger than the diameter.
That is, it is just physics that such a type of mount will be tougher.
Well, in my opinion, this is very beautiful, pleasant, nice from an aesthetic point of view.
For me, there are some differences between eccentrics and axles.
That is, if I sit on a bike with an eccentric and an axle, the difference in the legs will be felt.
How many watts do you have at the peak?
Yes, at the peak, well, there were 1600-1700.
Modest, modest.
Not much, yes.
Well, I weigh a lot, so it's not much.
By the way, do you know what can be noted?
There are removable dropouts on the rear axle.
Well, if suddenly, of course, I don't know what to do, but something happens to them,
then you can just change them.
Also a very nice thing.
That is, roughly speaking, you will not have a frame, but an insertion dropout,
which you threw away, put a new one.
Well, for such a type of bike, I think it is very pleasant.
The next important difference, it is actually not very large, but still there is.
It needs to be noted, this is geometry.
Despite the fact that at first glance, you look at the pictures, you look at the site,
and Hardway and Roadway are exactly the same bikes.
One and the same frame, just changed the components a little, and everything became good.
But there were some differences in geometry.
And we also have an expert.
In fact, in all the videos, when I say something about the geometry of bicycles,
I consult with a specialist, because in our team there are people responsible for the hardware,
for bicycles, and all these numbers.
I am responsible for the tourist equipment.
Therefore, if you need to choose a sleeping bag, the guys write,
Jack, let's choose.
If I need to understand exactly whether I evaluated those numbers correctly in geometry or not,
I write to Gosha, send photos, numbers.
I say, Gosha, tell me, is it so and so or not so and so?
Look, first of all, the first difference is that our Roadway is different from the fork.
That is, it is completely different from the Hardway.
It is not only carbon, it is completely carbon.
And on the Roadway, unlike the Hardway, the angle of the fork changes from time to time.
Well, this is not the angle of the fork, but the angle of the steering wheel.
This value changes slightly by half a degree.
In my opinion, it starts with 70.5 or 70 and reaches 71.5 in the largest size.
Well, in my opinion, this is also a pleasant improvement,
that you have a certain angle of the fork for each frame size.
That is, for the famous manufacturers, this is generally a standard,
that they make their own angles for each frame.
It is not critically different, it is standard for gravel bikers.
That is, the bike is very pleasant to ride, not as sharp as the Roadway,
but still quite actively mobile.
The second difference is that on some sizes from the Hardway,
this value is different, that is, the top tube, the so-called effective top tube,
it is somewhere shorter.
Because of this, we have slightly different angles at the frame,
and such values as reach and stack are different.
They are responsible for our landing.
There is no critical difference.
On the Hardway we have 1.57, and on the Roadway we have 1.56.
A little more sporty.
Well, it's just so unbearable, but a little bit.
The Roadway is a little sportier in terms of landing.
Well, that is, the reach is slightly different, the stack is slightly different,
but the landing will be slightly different.
Not critical difference.
What else do we have from the differences?
In general, in my opinion, everything.
That is, this is all that distinguishes these two bikes.
The next difference between the Roadway and the Hardway is the paint.
And in my subjective opinion, here we, as always,
from the point of view of the visual style, we are engaged in a subjective moment.
The Roadway is matte, which makes it more expensive in terms of sensations.
In fact, because they got into my hands,
I remember, I still have fresh sensations from the Hardway.
And the Roadway, you touch it, and it is painted in a different way,
it is painted more interestingly, you want to touch it.
Of the features of these paints, I can note that the colors in real life look better than on the site.
As it often happens, because on the site I looked at both blue and green,
and I thought, why?
Well, why did the Roadway come like this?
I praised the Outlip designers all year for making very beautiful bikes this year,
because the CR-M, we then noted there, all three colors are very cool,
the only black one was calm, calm enough, but here is CR-M 1.
In black, we thought that the green color was ugly,
but it turned out that it was really very nice.
But the black itself was just calmer.
But CR-M 3 and 1 were great.
Vectors. Vectors are also very beautiful and painted, especially my blue.
Well, I like it more.
And you look at the site, look at the Roadway and think,
guys, well, why did it happen?
Everything was fine all year.
But in real life, in fact, the colors look much better, much nicer,
and blue and green are very pleasant colors.
The only thing I don't like is that I didn't like it in real life.
If you pay attention to the inscription on the Roadway 1,
this orange inscription is more peachy.
Yes, it is calmer, more pleasant.
Cool.
On the Roadway 2, the orange inscription is really acid orange.
And personally, I don't really like such acid colors,
so the only thing I didn't like,
both in real life and in photos,
is the acid color of this inscription.
But what else is pleasant from the design,
they added a skinwall on the tires.
The tires themselves are no different,
that is, according to the characteristics, everything is the same,
but here is another small plus
from the fact that the bike starts to look more expensive and stylish,
these brown side panels are a direct credit.
Well, that fork without painting,
that is, it's just raw carbon.
Well, by the way, a lot of manufacturers are doing the same now.
The GTs were the same,
the new Topstone Cannondales also leave the fork naked.
In general, why not?
It looks nice for some people,
that is, some people like black carbon.
Subjective.
Yes.
Well, for example, I like the green one more.
First of all, it is completely painted,
and it has a matte color, very pleasant.
The last difference between roadways and hardways
is the weight.
We now have the top hardway, this is A2,
it weighs 11.8 kg.
Roadway A2 weighs 11.2,
that is, we throw off 600 grams of weight.
Roadway A1 weighs 10.7,
10.7 or 10.8,
well, in general, 1 kg relative to hardway A2.
What is the difference in weight?
First of all, we have different forks,
secondly, we have slightly different,
slightly better components,
my favorite sticks.
I took it out, the wheel sat down.
These bikes are identical in the rest.
These are slightly different Tektra brakes,
but in terms of subjective feelings,
there is no difference from braking at all.
This is the same Microshift Advan X,
the same, in my opinion, even the system and the carriage.
Therefore, the difference in sticks and forks
gives us 600 grams,
despite the fact that the bikes are almost identical in the rest.
This is where the difference between hardways and roadways ends.
It's time to go to the chat
and discuss,
more precisely, we are in the chat all day,
to go to the chat where we will discuss
the difference between roadway A1 and roadway A2.
Point number one,
this is such a noticeable difference.
We have different transmissions here.
If roadway A2,
Advan X at 10 speeds in front,
and here and there 42nd star,
the gear ratio at the back
on A2 is 11.48,
roadway A1 is 11.46,
X-seat, 11-speed.
We have discussed this many times this year,
let's discuss it again.
For Gravinnik, probably, even such a calculation is not bad.
11.46, yes,
this is already quite a lot,
there is no, in my opinion,
except for the new Shimano JRX,
such a range,
if only it is not custom.
But in general, it is pleasant
to have 11 speeds,
that is, you do not have such a big step
between the stars,
still a little bit denser cassette than 10,
and probably still for Gravinnik
46th star with a huge margin.
That is, it's really a lot.
Well, considering that
here you really most likely
stick to the wheels,
to the geometry,
and you will not go anywhere
than in this transmission.
Because on Gravinnik they put
usually 42.42 or 42.36,
and this is also quite enough everywhere.
That is, more than 1 to 1,
no problem at all.
That is, it turns out
4 stars in reserve,
generally fine.
Well, the only thing is that Advent X
is just very pleasant,
and if you have such a large transmission,
then yes, really 11.48,
it is very, very pleasant.
Well, for the whole year
I drove around on Advent X,
and you drive around the city,
you have this 48th star,
I can't even remember when I turned it on.
That is, if it is there for 2 hours less,
there were no problems.
But to have a denser cassette in the city,
of course, you want.
No, but still we are talking
about such large gears,
and really, it seems to me,
46 with an excess is really faster,
faster, and you can, in general,
put more stars if you have such a ratio.
Well, you can put it on Advent X.
In general, if on MTB we agreed
on the idea that, in general,
11.48 is more pleasant on MTB,
this is a fact,
in the case with Gravinnik XCD
as if it looks the other way around,
a little more pleasant.
Advent X is a cool transmission,
there are no questions,
and here a denser cassette,
more gears,
will make life more comfortable.
The only thing is that it will be more expensive
in maintenance,
because 11-speed cassette and chain
are still more expensive pleasure.
But if you follow this regularly
and keep it in order,
then it will also serve long enough.
So, one more point we have
in different transmissions is the system.
But in terms of weight, I understand,
they are also about the same.
The only thing that is different
is the mount.
In general, I have a Pro Wheel on MTB,
I can't say anything bad about it,
it works well,
there is a carriage on the nose,
well, that is, a normal working system.
Only the type of mount is different.
Again, in the more expensive version
of the A1 roadway, we have
like SRAM GXP on 3 bolts,
the star of direct mount,
and in the A2 roadway there is,
well, let's say, a Shimanov standard,
and 4 bolts.
But in general, these stars
are as widespread as possible.
If you need to find an A1 star,
then you can easily find it
on that and that bike.
In general, it's all different,
just what kind of gears you will use.
But both can be removed
in field conditions without problems.
That is, if you go to the mountains,
you can take the second star with you.
It's good. When we were driving in Georgia,
at one point we thought that
there was a star on the bag,
10 teeth smaller.
It would be very good.
We overestimated ourselves then,
we thought we were strong, but it turned out that we were not.
The next difference,
which we have already mentioned today,
is that our rims are different.
In the case of the A1 roadway,
the rims are immediately ready
for the camber.
The only thing is that the rubber
is not ready for the camber.
That is, immediately, as it was
with the A1 roadway,
you can't take this bike to the workshop
and put camber wheels.
But in any case,
the rims are already ready,
which is pleasant in any case.
Therefore, throw in another rubber here,
put it all on the camber,
and ride the mountains.
Because without a camber, it's good.
I still haven't gotten along with it,
I still don't have a single bike without a camber.
I still ride and get a lot of pleasure.
So far, everything is fine with me.
The last block of differences,
probably the biggest block,
which I assume will take
as long as the previous one.
And this is the brakes.
Because on the A2 roadway
we have ordinary mechanics.
Old, kind, understandable,
you don't expect any surprises from it.
Everything is extremely clear with it.
In the case of the A1 roadway,
we have a hydromechanics,
which in itself, as a concept,
causes a lot of disputes,
a lot of myths, rumors, delusions.
Not only do we have a controversial concept,
we also have incomprehensible calipers.
That is, what to expect from them for a long time,
no one knows,
because they have just appeared,
we see them for the first time,
we hear about them for the first time,
how they will behave in 2-3-4 years,
no one knows yet.
About hydromechanics in general.
Why does it exist at all?
It exists ...
This is such a compromise solution,
it should make mechanical brakes
a little more pleasant.
Effective, yes, in terms of modulation.
Due to what it steers,
due to what we all love hydraulic brakes.
Due to the fact that, first of all,
they transfer the force better,
that is, they brake sharper.
And most importantly,
the modulation of braking is more pleasant.
That is, you understand at what point,
how much you press,
and you can better calculate
this moment when you stop.
If you are on a mechanical handle,
on a mechanical transmission,
which greatly reduces the cost
of the entire system,
then this modulation,
the braking force,
should supposedly get closer to the hydra.
From personal experience,
my wife has a brick hydromechanics on her bike,
and I will say that it feels
more pleasant than conventional mechanics.
But, yes, a full-fledged hydra,
of course, does not reach.
But in general, as a concept,
there are no problems with it.
Everything is perfectly tuned,
everything works perfectly.
How long has the bike been there?
The bike has been there for 3 seasons,
in my opinion, or 2 or 3 years.
That is, 2-3 years of active riding,
the brakes do not ask any questions at all.
Well, not so actively, conditionally riding,
because if we talk about food and racing,
about mud, I think
it will still have a slightly different wear.
But, indeed, there is a difference
between mechanics and hydromechanics.
The handle responds a little differently,
but it really does not reach the hydra.
That is, the hydromechanics works differently,
you can feel it right away.
But this is not mechanics,
that is, there is a difference.
Of the pleasant moments.
If something goes wrong
and these calipers die one day,
you can always just throw in mechanical brakes.
That is, this is such a moment
that even if something, I repeat,
went wrong, is solved with a little blood
for a small amount of money.
You can buy a caliper for 10,000 rubles
without any problems at any time.
If something is more serious, more expensive,
which will stop you like a stop crane,
this is somewhere around 10,000 rubles
for a caliper.
Even for two, probably.
Well, for the kit, for the kit.
Yes, TRP, Avido, you can find them
inexpensively, still.
And, in general, also normal brakes.
Well, here is just an interesting concept.
In everyday use,
it is probably very pleasant
to have such a handle,
to have some additional help
with braking effort.
Well, yes.
But, again, you need to understand
that they have some disadvantages,
maintenance, yes, features.
If we consider such brakes,
then we understand why we take them.
By the way, in terms of features,
these brakes are very capricious
to, in general, any
part of bicycles is capricious
to cables and braids.
So, hydromechanics is even more
capricious to these components.
Stock, on roadways,
and in general, by the way, on all hardwares,
good cables, braids, jaguars,
everything is cool.
If suddenly you bought this bike,
two or three years after you start
changing cables and braids,
do not be stingy, if you have
hydromechanics, put normal ones.
Because, in fact, hydromechanics,
according to all reviews,
is very capricious to this
thing. At the moment of strong
pressure on the handle, you should
start to feel this coming from
hydromechanics, which gives you
an advantage over conventional mechanics.
If you have a bad winding
and cable, all this effort
goes to the bend of the cable,
to the bend in the compression of the winding,
and, well, the meaning of hydromechanics
turns out to be nothing. By the way,
on the Sportrooper channel, I watched
when I was preparing, they disassembled
these brakes. The only claim
that there is is that there is not
very good protection against dirt.
I think that on any such brakes
there is just not so much space on the caliper
and to make some more sealing rubber
for the place where the piston
moves, well, it just does not have
normal capabilities.
Well, if we do not ride constantly
in the dirt, do not drive some races,
then nothing will happen to these brakes.
That is, in everyday use?
In everyday use, nothing will happen to them.
If, of course, we start to use them
regularly, but this is exactly the same.
We also have brake handles on MTB.
If we start to use them somewhere
heavily, use them in difficult conditions,
then they also come in the same disrepair.
Therefore, well,
carefully look, follow,
understand where we are going.
If something is wrong, then we service it.
Although, by the way,
service, I don't know, do we service it?
Well, purely theoretically,
it seems to be disassembled.
Well, yes, it should be disassembled.
That is, something else can leak there,
that is, re-pump. Well, probably it is possible.
Just an unknown caliper.
Cute, milled, I think
it is light.
Another feature of hydromechanics in general.
If you live in a mountainous area,
if you do not have flat
terrain around you,
keep in mind that hydromechanics,
unlike hydra-brakes,
and hydra-brakes have the property of overheating
on some very active
descents and climbs.
And hydromechanics does it even faster,
because, firstly, the tank is right next
to the brake disc, with pads.
That is, all the heat from the brake system
goes straight to the brake fluid.
And secondly, this fluid is just banally less.
Because if we have on,
well, it doesn't matter, it's MTB handles,
it's highway handles,
we have a hydraulic tank,
it is at the top, it is far.
Here the tank is right next to the brake,
and we still lack the amount of fluid
that is right in the hydra-line.
Speaking of brakes,
if you really live in a mountainous area,
you have a lot of descents,
I would think,
maybe you don't need hydromechanics,
because you can overheat,
and I had overheated brakes once in my life.
On Altai we descended from the mountain,
and somewhere there at a speed of 60-70
in a turn, I just feel
how the handles fall through,
and you almost brake with your teeth,
there is little pleasant.
Therefore, keep this point in mind.
And so,
about the sound of this helicopter,
which has returned to our lives,
and which prevents us from recording sound
for the fifth time today.
We will finish,
because we have discussed
the main differences
between roadway and hardway,
talked about hydromechanics in general,
and everything that could be said
for today,
we, in my opinion, said.
Well, we can summarize
I think this is the bike that everyone
has been asking for a very long time,
because everyone constantly writes
where the axles are,
I will not buy a bike.
The most frequent comments
under the video with CRM
are, firstly, I need axles,
because a bike without an axle is not a bike,
and secondly, the inner wiring is our everything,
a bike without an inner wiring is not a bike.
Here both the inner wiring and the axles,
guys, have smeared all the khachuks
in a fat layer.
Here is a full-fledged gravel bike,
I will not call it a tourist bike,
of course, this is exactly a gravel bike,
but for some small trips,
even up to two weeks,
in general, it will cope perfectly,
given that the transmission is already ready here,
that is, it is quite light.
Well, here you can probably
rely not on a week,
but on the number of gears
that are on the route.
Well, and the number of gears,
and civilization on the asphalt,
but two weeks, three weeks, four weeks,
in general, there is no difference.
In general, there is no difference,
and in general, there is a credit card,
you can go anywhere,
but in general, that is,
that pleasant bike,
which, in my opinion, everyone was waiting for,
because here are all these modern standards,
as everyone wants,
so that it is pleasant to twist the wheels,
so that the wiring is hidden,
so that there are bonks,
so that the fork is completely carbon,
fast, pleasant,
well, in general, in my opinion,
for such a conditionally budget gravel bike,
this is an excellent weight.
Please, 10 kilograms,
I think few people can
get close to such a price range
to a smaller weight,
because the equipment will be
plus or minus the same.
To get out of 10, it's 200.
Something needs to be added twice as much,
and it's not a fact that you'll get out strong.
Because,
if we talk about gravel bike,
it is very easy not to make it,
because it still requires
a certain amount of
fiber,
so that it is stronger,
because it should be tougher, stronger,
this is still a bike designed for
more aggressive riding,
not on a completely flat surface.
Therefore, yes,
very pleasant bikes,
in my opinion,
which have appeared,
to please people with axles
and internal wiring.
That's all, guys,
we'll finish again.
Write how you liked this format,
whether you liked such a micro-review,
flowing into a podcast.
I don't know,
it's hard to call it a full-fledged podcast.
Well, yes, just something at the junction
between reviews and a podcast.
Next time we'll take coffee with us.
This is actually
the last warm day this year,
because, according to the forecast,
tomorrow will come a full-fledged autumn.
We relaxed,
this autumn was very good,
all of September was warm, dry, beautiful.
We went on a hike.
Yes, there are still waiting for you
good videos from the hikes
that we have already traveled,
but they will be published
after this video.
And then we rush
most likely into this autumn tin,
when the soil is sour on the street
sad, painful, but at the same time
exciting and good.
Okay, that's it,
we're finishing for the third time.
Thank you for being with us.
I wish you good bikes,
good shopping, interesting trips.
See you soon. Bye-bye.
Thank you, Klim.
I hope I didn't waste your time.
Not a pity, yes.
I could sit down with a beer,
it would be a different conversation.
Well, I think so.
We don't need blood.
