Hey guys, this is the Tightwad again, back with the MTD Gold Riding Lawn Tractor.
Today we're going to look at how to remove the air filter and either clean or replace
it.
So you have to pop the hood up on it, and then you come down to the side, and there
are two plastic nuts here and here that need to be removed before you can access the air
filter.
Alright, so I've loosened both of the nuts.
They don't actually come all the way off because it keeps the plastic pieces in place.
And then you just pull it off of the mower.
This one's still on there a little bit, which exposes your air filter.
Next thing we're going to do is take the air filter off the mower and check it to see if
it can be cleaned or if it needs to be replaced.
This air filter looks like it's in pretty good shape.
It has a little bit of dust on it.
The backside's nice and clean.
I honestly haven't cleaned this in a couple of years, so I'm going to take out my air
compressor and blow the dust out of it and just put this one back in.
I don't think it's time to replace it yet.
If you look in the cover for the paper filter, you'll see that there's another foam filter
that easily pulls out of the slot.
This is a pre-filter that catches large debris before it gets to the paper filter.
You should oil this filter and replace it in the guard and then put it back on the mower.
So I've blown out both filters and put them back in their appropriate locations.
They both fit on pretty easily.
And now I just have to put the plastic cap back on and tighten both of the nuts.
Both of the nuts are now finger tight and you are done servicing the air filters on
your mower.
