revealing the mysterious past of a monk who was once a Buddhist monk and now has passed away.
In history, there have been many monks whose past has become a legend.
Today, we would like to share with you a story about a contemporary monk, Hu Van Hoa Thuong.
Hu Van Hoa Thuong's life can be seen as a legend.
Hu Van Hoa Thuong has lived through the reigns of the five emperors of the Tang Dynasty,
including the reigns of the Quang Dao, Ham Phong, Dong Chi, Quang Tu, and Tuyen Thong.
He has witnessed nearly 100 years of war and the gradual changes of China.
At the age of 112, Hu Van Hoa Thuong was beaten mercilessly many times,
but he survived and regained his life like a miracle,
making those who were not afraid of the sky or the earth feel relieved.
It is worth mentioning that on the day of the disaster,
the Buddha appeared in front of Hu Van Hoa Thuong's eyes.
A Miraculous Birth
An extraordinary person was destined to have an extraordinary birth.
The story of Hu Van Hoa Thuong's birth is the same.
Hu Van Hoa Thuong is the descendant of the Venerable Thieu Dien.
His father is Thieu Ngoc Duong, who was an official in Vinh Xuan in the Tang Dynasty.
His mother is Mrs. Nhan Thi.
Her family was poor.
Her husband was over 40 years old and still had no children.
She was very worried.
One day, Mrs. Nhan Thi came to the pagoda to pray for a child.
At the same time, she prayed for the pagoda and the road to the east.
That night, Mrs. Nhan Thi dreamed of a tall old man
wearing a blue shirt with a statue of Quan Yin at the top of his head.
He was so arrogant that he jumped on the bed.
The next morning, Mrs. Nhan Thi told her dream to her husband.
Mr. Thieu Ngoc Duong was shocked.
I also dreamt of that.
It seems that my wish has come true.
As expected, Mrs. Nhan Thi gave birth not long after that.
But the birth of a child shocked the whole family.
Why?
Because Quan Yin was not a baby, but a piece of meat.
Mrs. Nhan Thi was terrified.
She thought that from now on, there was no hope.
So she died of starvation.
In just one day, the world turned into a mess.
Everyone thought that the fetus had reached the point
where the womb would be removed.
Fortunately, an old man came to visit.
Knowing the situation,
the old man took a knife to cut the piece of meat
and cut out a baby with a white belly.
The baby was Hu Van Sau Nai.
According to Hu Van's autobiography,
Hu Van was smart and wise since he was a child.
But he didn't want to follow the path of the world
and didn't want to take advantage of the world.
At the age of 17, he went on a pilgrimage.
But the road was blocked by his family,
so he had to go back.
In order to stop Hu Van,
Mr. Thieu Ngoc Duong forced his son to marry two wives,
Dien Thi and Dam Thi.
He couldn't disobey his father,
but he didn't have any good intentions.
On the wedding night,
Mr. Hoang Duong offered the two newlyweds
a bowl of rice and a place to sleep.
Just like the great poet Diep and the poet Nam Xua,
Mr. Thieu Ngoc Duong and Mr. Thieu Ngoc Duong
only had the title of husband and wife.
But in fact, they lived like close friends.
One year later, Hu Van wrote to his two wives
a poem about the great poet,
a poem about the old bag,
a one-sided poem,
pointing out that the human body is just a bag of skin.
We shouldn't be greedy for worldly gains.
The most important thing is to get what we want.
After that, he went to Dung Tuyen Pagoda in Phuc Chau.
After a while,
his two wives also got married.
Dong Pha Prison, Tuyen The
Hua Thuong Hu Van had an interesting story.
Before he was released,
he had lived a life of a prisoner like the great poet Diep.
Therefore, some people assumed that
he was the great poet Diep.
However, the great poet Diep
followed the will of Buddha Thich Nhat Hanh
so he didn't enter the Buddha's world
and stayed in Nhan Giang waiting for the Buddha to come back.
Therefore, we can't say that Hu Van was a great poet.
A disciple of Hu Van Hua Thuong,
who was an old monk in Hue,
revealed that
the old monk was one of the four great monks
of the Ming Dynasty,
Ham Son Dai Su.
How did he know that?
In the 23rd year of the Ming Dynasty,
in 1934,
during the reign of Cao Khe To Dinh,
the son of Hua Thuong Hu Van,
Hua Thuong Hu Van
used to stand in front of the statue of Ham Son Dai Su
and read the following verses.
Kim Duc Thanh, Co Duc Thanh,
Kim Co Tung Phung, Hoan Lieu Hinh,
Phat Phap Hung Suy, Thinh Thi Tiet,
Nhat Lam, Nhat Thao, Bac, Tang Dinh.
Translation
Co Duc Thanh, Co Duc Thanh,
Co Duc Thanh met the statue of Ham Son Dai Su,
Phat Phap Hung Suy, Thinh Thi Tiet,
Nhat Lam, Nhat Thao, Bac, Tang Dinh.
Co Duc Thanh is the name of Ham Son Dai Su,
which is also the name of Hu Van Hoa Thuong.
During the reign of Hua Thuong Hua Thuong,
each life has a different face and shape,
but the name of the statue is the same.
Co Duc Thanh is still alive,
standing in front of the ruined body of Co Duc Thanh.
In fact, this statue has a different face and shape.
That year, Ham Son Dai Su went to Nam Hoa Tu.
He took the identity of a person who was being buried
in Nam Hoa Pagoda,
the main hall of the Taoist temple.
Today, the old Hua Thuong Hua Thuong
came to Nam Hoa Tu,
again the main hall of the Taoist temple.
In fact, Phat Phap Hung Suy,
according to the weather,
went into the forest and never stopped.
Once, there was a person holding a scroll
to pray for the life of Hua Thuong Hua Thuong.
The old Hua Thuong said,
that was when I was sitting in the pond and wrote.
But Hua Thuong never sat in the pond,
but Ham Son Dai Su,
because of the crime of deliberately building a pagoda,
but was sent to Nam Hai,
was sentenced to sit in the pond.
Ham Son Dai Su had to stand in the pond for 8 hours a day
with high water on his knees.
After returning, he wrote a long letter,
so it can be said that Hua Thuong
revealed his identity.
The history of Ham Son Dai Su is also not ordinary.
In the dream of Thuy Linh Chau Kinh Thuong Nhan,
he used to say that
he climbed to the top of the Kao Phong temple in Hai Mon.
During meditation,
he entered a very deep and vast field,
and saw To Dong Pha walking back and forth.
Later, he learned that
this is a hidden information from the past.
When Ham Son traveled to the place
where To Dong Pha lived in the past,
he was always impressed by
the poems of the great Thuy Hao.
The magic is like a dream,
the life is like a fantasy in a dream.
The next life,
based on the words of Ham Son Dai Su,
he learned that he was the successor
of the great poet To Dong Pha.
But To Dong Pha was the successor of Hua Thuong.
Through that, we can see that
Hua Thuong had many years of training.
He had a very deep and profound fate.
The miracle cannot be explained.
After the opening of the tomb,
Hua Thuong experienced many miracles.
These are all things that modern science cannot explain.
At the end of the spring, there was a snowfall.
The epidemic was eradicated.
In the 10th year of the Republic of Vietnam,
in the autumn of 1921,
the epidemic broke out in the South.
Thousands of people were infected.
Until the end of the spring,
the epidemic did not subside.
The number of deaths increased.
Not only that,
the South had a drought.
For many months, there was no rain.
A soldier named Duong Ke Gieu
came to Hua Dinh Tu,
Hua Thuong Hu Van set up a rain gate.
Hua Dinh was located on the west bank of Con Minh Lake.
It was not repaired for a long time,
so it was sold.
After Duong Ke Gieu bought it,
he handed it over to Hua Thuong Hu Van
as the owner and restarted the work.
Later, he was buried in the ground
with the word Vân Thê engraved on his face.
Because of that,
he changed his name to Vân Thê Tự.
Hua Thuong Hu Van set up a rain gate for 3 days.
Unfortunately, it rained for a long time,
but the epidemic still spread.
Duong Ke Gieu said,
I heard that the snow could prevent the epidemic,
but now it's the end of the spring,
how can there be more snow?
Hua Thuong Hu Van replied,
I will set up a altar,
but I still need you to be wholehearted,
and pray with all your heart.
After that, Duong Ke Gieu took a bath,
listening to Hua Thuong Hu Van's sermon.
On the next day,
there was a heavy snowstorm,
which prevented the epidemic from spreading.
People in the area were deeply grateful,
and put more faith in the power of Buddhism.
God bless the Buddha,
die and resurrect.
In 1949,
when the Communist Party of China took over the regime,
Hua Thuong Hu Van was 110 years old
and was in the monastery of Vân Môn in Quảng Đông.
In 1951,
Hua Thuong Hu Van was in charge
of the transfer of snow in the spring.
There were a lot of people coming to pray for snow.
There were more than 120 people in the monastery of Vân Môn.
At that time,
it was also the time when the Communist Party of China
was launching a campaign
to suppress the word of anti-corruption all over the country.
Seeing Hua Thuong Hu Van as a high-ranking,
high-respected monk,
who had spent his whole life in the Buddhism,
he saw that his people were all Buddhists,
so the Communist Party of China
wanted to take advantage of this opportunity.
They took advantage of the fact that the monastery of Vân Môn
had increased the number of soldiers,
telegraphs, and gold,
and sent hundreds of people to protect the monastery.
First of all,
they arrested Hua Thuong Hu Van
in the ministerial office
and sent people to watch him.
After that,
they forced the monks to go to Thien Duong and Phap Duong.
After that,
they began to raid
from the bottom of the Lach San cliff
to the main hall.
The Buddha statues,
and the Buddha's weapons were all destroyed.
After two days,
without any results,
they came to arrest Chu Tang
and used the broken Buddha statues to worship him.
In just a few days,
a total of 26 people were arrested,
including one who was beaten to death.
Continuously for 10 days,
they still did not find anything.
They began to be angry with Hua Thuong Hu Van.
On March 1st,
they locked him in another room,
locked the door and the window.
They did not provide him with food
and they did not allow him to go to the toilet.
On March 3rd,
10 people broke into the room
and forced Hua Thuong Hu Van
to hand over gold and silver.
Hua Thuong Hu Van replied,
no,
they beat him up.
At first, they used a wooden stick,
then they used a iron stick
to beat him to the point that his face was covered with blood,
his whole body was injured,
and his bones were broken.
But even though he was beaten to a pulp,
Hua Thuong Hu Van still sat up,
his face was covered with blood,
his eyes were closed,
his mouth was shut,
he did not speak,
he did not say a word.
Those villains beat him four times,
and finally he fell to the ground.
When they saw that Hua Thuong Hu Van was injured,
and that his life was in danger,
they believed that Hua Thuong Hu Van would die,
so they dragged him away.
On March 5th,
they found that Hua Thuong Hu Van was still alive,
so they continued to beat him.
At night,
an apprentice came to help him sit on a broken bed.
Hua Thuong Hu Van was still sitting there in a coma.
In the morning of March 7th,
he slowly fell to the ground,
just like when Buddha Thich Cam Nhat Banh.
After a day and a night,
he still did not wake up.
The apprentice tried to light incense in front of his nose
to see if he breathed,
but he found that he did not breathe anymore.
He touched his forehead,
both his right and left hands,
but he did not feel any pain.
But the strange thing is that
his face was still as pure as before,
his body was still soft and warm.
The next morning,
the apprentice suddenly heard
his master's faint voice.
He ran in to help him sit up
and told him how many days he had been in a coma.
Hua Thuong Hu Van said,
I thought these changes
were only a few minutes.
I thought my life was over.
Then he said,
I just dreamed
that I came to the temple
to offer incense to heaven.
It was a wonderful experience.
In the world,
there is no place like that.
I met Bodhisattva Di Lac
sitting on the high pagoda of Thuyet Phap.
In the assembly,
there were a few dozen people,
which was his former residence.
I shook hands with him,
even though I did not know his name.
He told me to sit on the east side,
where there was a pagoda
where Ananda was sitting next to him.
Everyone listened to him.
Bodhisattva Di Lac
said,
Suddenly,
he stopped,
pointed at me,
and said,
Please go back.
I said,
I am a disciple of a great master.
I don't dare to go back.
He said,
My life is not over yet.
I said,
I will go back.
The Buddha's words
made the people
feel strange.
They asked the monks,
Why did the great master
hit the Buddha so hard
but did not die?
The monks replied,
The great master was suffering
and wanted to compensate for his misdeeds.
So he was hit so hard
but did not die.
Since then,
they did not dare to hit him anymore.
After the outsiders
knew about the incident at Van Bon Pagoda,
the Communist Party of China
temporarily stopped
the Buddha.
This incident was called Van Bon Incident.
The last disciple of the Buddha
was Thieu Van.
Thieu Van was a French monk
who told about the life
of the Buddha.
From 1956
to 1958,
Thieu Van was often ill.
The old injury from Van Bon Incident
was always painful.
At that time,
the Buddha was lying on his bed.
However,
when someone came to visit him,
he immediately sat up and was in a good mood.
He could talk to them
for 3-4 hours without getting tired.
He did not look like a sick person.
However,
when the visitors left,
he was lying on the bed.
A disciple felt strange.
He came to the Buddha and asked
what was going on.
Thieu Van replied
that it was his karma.
The Buddha could not control him.
So he could teach
or not teach.
After 1958,
Thieu Van told the disciple
that he wanted to leave.
The disciple felt sorry for him
and asked the Buddha why he wanted to leave.
Thieu Van replied
that he did not know
because he had to suffer
for 10 years.
It was very difficult.
Everyone did not know
what 10 years of suffering was.
Until the great cultural revolution
happened,
they knew about it.
In 1959,
the illness became worse.
In March 1957,
Thieu Van was invited
by a doctor
but he refused.
He said that his karma
was about to end.
On September 12, 1959,
Thieu Van passed away.
More than a month before that,
many people saw
a beam of light
coming from the grass
towards the Great Hall.
After that,
on September 19,
the coffin was taken to the cremation chamber.
It was planned to be opened
three days later.
But on the next day,
a fire broke out in Chieu Chau.
Nearly 100 people lived on the mountain.
All the believers went to save the fire.
Only a few old people
were left in the temple.
Among them were the Buddha,
Khoan Khoa and Khoan Khac
with some other people.
When they arrived at the cremation chamber,
they saw the Buddha's body
lying on the ground.
It was so strange.
They took a piece of grass
and threw it into the coffin.
The whole coffin collapsed.
Khoan Khoa put his hands inside
and threw a bamboo stick.
He found some pieces of grass
and he was very happy.
After a while,
the people who went to save the fire
came back.
They heard that there was grass in the coffin.
Everyone tried to get a bamboo stick
and ran to the empty place on the mountain.
Some people found
a few pieces of grass in the bamboo stick.
At least one or two.
The size was different.
The color was not the same.
Most of them were white
and looked like a phalaenopsis.
Because everyone did that,
no matter how many pieces of grass
there were in the Buddha's coffin,
no one could count them.
Many people saw
the Buddha's image
in the coffin.
There was a piece of his eyebrows.
Now,
those pieces of grass
are still in the Buddha's coffin.
Ladies and gentlemen,
this is the end of the story
about the mystery of the Buddha.
Thank you for watching.
Goodbye and see you
in the next episodes.
