Isn't it the second bathroom?
Is it the bedroom?
The child's room is too small.
The other day I had a lighting,
something I had never thought about.
The real cost of this panorama
and how we were able to afford it.
I'm Irina and I welcome you
to the Spazio Grigio channel.
The best aspect of our house
is the view, without a doubt.
The panorama,
certainly the silence, the clean air,
these are also in other places,
even in houses nearby,
maybe down,
where there is no such panorama.
This was also the main reason
why we bought this house
and the reason why we came
to see it as soon as we saw
the announcement of the house for sale.
It is also the comment I receive
when I show some scenes
of the place where I live.
I live in a paradise,
beautiful panorama,
but the question is
how much did you pay?
It will cost a lot,
so you immediately think about the cost
in monetary terms.
In reality, it is something else
that allowed us to live here
and it is only now that I see it
from this point of view
and it is minimalism.
Because you see, the house is small,
it is less than the average house.
Other larger houses
with a similar view
are not there.
There are houses nearby
with a similar panorama,
but they are not for sale.
The cost we still pay
is to live in a small space.
Insects too.
Another cost.
If we were not minimalists,
in the sense of owning few things,
we would never have bought this house,
we would not even have considered it.
Just think that we have a single closet
with three shelves that I share with my husband
and there are also the things of the house.
We do not have laundry,
shelves or similar spaces
where things are put.
Minimalism, having only what we really use,
has allowed us to have more flexibility
for the purchase of the house.
I am not saying that everyone should buy small houses,
let's face it,
have enough space,
you have your pros,
even against.
But when you realize
that you don't necessarily have to have
a lot of space,
you have more flexibility and possibility to choose.
Another reflection I made,
based on what I have seen several times,
is that when buying a big house,
you use a part of it.
I saw who had the house
with three floors
and lived literally
in the tavern,
which is beautiful, welcoming,
walkable, etc.
But there are other two floors,
the real house,
while the rest of the house
is used to
contain things that we do not use.
Rooms with sports equipment
that are often not used,
furniture to contain things,
whole corners with decorative objects.
If they were decorative objects
that we particularly care about,
it's a matter of course.
But sometimes it goes like this,
there is this empty corner,
what do we put there?
A tour of Ikea and you go from
furniture without a real utility,
with vases on top,
and other cute objects
that yesterday
were an anonymous object,
today it has become mine
and it's a hassle to let it go
because I spent the money.
Ok.
Of this house,
we use every single corner.
The second aspect of buying
a small house is the savings.
We were able to buy a new house
at a low price
that we could afford.
As well as the maintenance
costs,
you see the heating
that impacts a lot,
it is a factor to consider
for the purchase of a house.
Last winter we spent
three times less than those
who have a bigger house nearby.
And it's small, I admit it.
Sometimes we wonder
if we will be able to stay here
with our children.
We think about how we can expand.
By the way,
we have already expanded in different ways.
We have transformed the storage
in the studio, the space
below where we work.
But why did we
do it?
Because we don't have many tools,
just those two to cut
the grass for the vegetable garden
that are in the garage.
Then we transformed
the garage
into a tavern.
Same thing,
we were able to do it
because we don't need large spaces
to store things.
Just the space to
contain a car
and a corner for
some things, some boxes.
Or we think that one day
we will have to move.
But until that day
we will have enjoyed this life
and this is also
the benefit of minimalism for me.
The flexibility to
change according to
the situation of the moment.
This is how I see it,
it's a personal reflection
that I wanted to share
and I hope it will help someone else.
Let me know what you think
and if you have a small or large house
and how you feel.
There is no right or wrong,
there is what is best for us
in this phase of life.
And not having
heavy, superfluous
attachments makes it easier
for us to choose what is best
for us now.

See you in the next video
and until then, only beautiful things.
Peace.
