Every training starts with a trial period. But what exactly is that, how long does it take, and how can you use it effectively?
All these questions will be answered in this video. Let's go!
Are you looking for a suitable training? Then come to studyflix.de and find tens of thousands of open training positions.
During the trial period, both graduates and employers can get to know each other and test whether they fit together.
Graduates have one to four months to find out whether they have chosen the right profession.
And the trainers test whether the graduate fits into the company at all.
If one of them does not meet, the training relationship can be resolved and announced quite uncomplicatedly.
You can find all the rules for the trial period in the vocational training law.
They are also included in the training contract, according to your working relationship.
We will now explain how exactly the trial period is set up and what you have to consider.
The trial period must be between one and four months. Neither a shorter nor a longer period is allowed.
An exception is some professions in public service. Their trial period is set in a tariff contract and can therefore take longer.
As a pediatrician, for example, you get a six-month trial period. Extensions are also prohibited with the set duration.
However, there are two exceptions to this rule.
First, if a shorter trial period has been extended from the beginning, for example two months, it may be extended to a maximum of four months, i.e. plus two.
Or second, the trainee is sick for more than a third of the trial period and can therefore not use it sensibly.
Then it is possible that the trial period can be extended by the missed period.
In both cases, the agreement must be held in writing and submitted separately.
If it turns out during the trial period that the relationship between trainee and trainer does not fit together in this way, it can be resolved quite uncomplicatedly.
There is no expiration date and no reasons for the expiration must be given.
Here, too, there is an exception, namely if the trainee is pregnant.
Pregnant women have a special expiration date according to the Mothers' Protection Act, also during the trial period.
They must not be expired during the entire pregnancy and up to four months after birth.
However, the employer must know about the pregnancy.
Normally, such a thing can be kept secret.
And what about interns?
Because many trainees already complete an internship before their training.
The time they invest in it cannot be officially calculated for the trial period.
As a trainee, you can only negotiate a reduction in your training in a personal conversation.
However, you must make sure that the tasks in the internship and during the training are comparable and that the minimum duration of one month is not exceeded.
One last important aspect is the vacation.
This may not be taken during the trial period.
A waiting period of six months is valid.
It does not matter how long the trial period lasts.
Nevertheless, the vacation claim does not fall short of this time.
The days may only be taken after the waiting period.
Finally, let's take a look at some tips on how to make the most of the trial period.
Various tasks help both the trainee and the instructor.
As a trainee, you can imagine all activities much better and thus find out whether you want to practice the work for a longer period of time.
For instructors, this makes sense in order to be able to determine various skills, but also problems in full time.
So you can start from the beginning.
In the conversation with the colleagues, you can find out as a trainee how the interpersonality in the company is and whether you want to work there for a longer period of time.
As an instructor, such conversations help to get other perspectives and impressions about the trainee.
However, as criteria for evaluating the trial period, trainees and instructors should choose different standards.
As a trainee, you should pay attention to how much you are supported and which employee-friendly regulations and training options there are.
As an instructor, you should pay special attention to the performance, but also to the way of working, motivation, social behavior and development ability.
Great! Now you know the best about the trial period.
However, it is only one of many aspects that you will find in your training contract.
Another important section is the rights and obligations as a trainee.
In the next video, you will learn everything about it. See you soon!
