When we think about money, there are two different aspects.
There is the currency, which is something that we use to buy and sell things.
And then there is the reserve of value.
And many of us assume that our money is supposed to be a reserve of value,
that it is supposed to keep its value.
What the rich understand is that money is not a very good reserve of value.
The traditional system
The traditional system tells us to go to school, to work hard,
to have good grades, to find a good job and to climb the ladder of the company.
Except that I started to realize, wait a minute,
there is a different system here that none of us has ever learned.
Where the goal is not simply to find a job and to climb the ladder of the company.
Instead, what rich people do is that they work to own the ladder of the company.
And I was there like, I didn't even know you could do that.
Because now, if you can own investments,
if you can own assets,
you own things that will pay you without you having to work physically.
And that's why the rich work.
And none of us has ever learned that.
None of us has ever learned to manage money properly at school.
None of us has ever learned to invest our money.
None of us has ever learned how to build a heritage.
None of us has ever learned to generate passive income.
Now, the rich teach this to their children.
And they are able to understand it because they have this education.
But for the majority of us, we are not taught that.
Unless you are ready to do it yourself.
And YouTube has made it much more accessible.
Thank God.
It's true.
But before YouTube, you had to do everything possible to read books,
take classes and...
And it's hard.
It is much more difficult to read a 300-page book than to watch a 10-minute YouTube video.
Yes, completely.
So it was a big turning point for me because it was at that moment that I started to realize that...
There was something different that we could do.
So the second habit we talked about is to, you know,
break with this traditional system.
And then the third thing is to understand what money is.
And it's a very difficult concept to understand.
And the reason why we have to understand this in our culture is because...
When we think about money,
there are two different aspects.
There is the currency, which is something we use to buy and sell things.
And then there is the reserve of value.
And many of us assume that our money is supposed to be a reserve of value.
That it is supposed to keep its value.
What the rich understand is that money is not a very good reserve of value.
So what you want is to take your money and convert it into something that is a reserve of value.
Or maybe even something that will bring you income.
And you have to understand this because it is the main reason why
the rich do not save their money as you do.
You want to make your money work for you.
Which brings us now to the second side.
What do the rich do?
You see, the first thing you have to understand is how much money plays a role in your life.
As we have already talked about it, okay?
What impact does money have on your life?
So you don't want to go out and just run after the money.
Because one of the things I realized was that I started to make a lot more money
when I stopped running after money.
Because when you run after money, you run after something that is illusory.
But the second question on the financial side is...
What do you do with this money?
And one of the things I realized is that what the rich are looking for
is this thing called equity.
Now let's get back to the root of equity.
Equity is the real dream of wealth.
It is something that you can build for yourself,
for your family and for future generations.
That's if you have your own capital.
If you think of any company,
more particularly in large companies,
it is easy to understand that there are two types of people involved.
You have employees and you have owners.
Employees work for a salary.
You go to work every day and then you get a paycheck.
You get a salary.
Now the company owners don't get paid.
They are paid by the profits.
So they want the company to make profits
in order to be able to make more money.
Now there is a certain overlap between employees and owners.
Now, if you are in this system,
you must be a company owner if you want to succeed.
But be careful, one of the things I want to keep in mind
is that most people shouldn't try to start a business.
Now you could think,
but you just said that everyone should be a company owner.
It doesn't make sense.
Well, you can own a company
without having to work for the company.
And now the question is, what do you do with your income?
Either you can build this equity by creating a company yourself,
by building a house,
or you can buy this equity.
Now, how do you do that?
You must understand the formula of wealth.
The formula of wealth is as follows.
You take your income,
you subtract your expenses from it,
which gives you your potential for investment
and savings.
So, if you take your income,
the amount of money you earn,
and you subtract all your expenses from it,
your rent, your car loan, your shares, your gas,
you subtract all your expenses from it,
and if you have anything left,
well, now you have additional money,
or all of this money.
But if you decide to save only a part of it,
this money can be used for your investments.
Now, this investment can be placed in the stock market,
because when you buy a share of any company,
if you go out and buy a share of Amazon, for example,
you become one of the owners of Amazon
and get a percentage of the profits.
If Amazon's valuation increases,
the price of your share increases.
The second way would be through real estate,
and I'm not talking about your house,
but real estate investment.
Then, this can be done through your own company,
or if you don't want to create your own company,
you can invest in start-ups.
You can also buy physical gold,
you can invest in a money pool.
If this is something you believe in,
there are many ways to create this equity,
and this is where you have to make your money work
to buy, own and build this equity.
What I'm trying to say is that
you can start with very little money.
I mean, nowadays, with the tools we have available,
if you have $10,
you can start building this equity.
But the key here is regularity,
and the frequency at which...
Personally, I do it every day.
When I say regularity,
people tell me,
oh, but I have to put at least $100.
Well, if you have them, yes, you can do it.
But the thing with regularity is that you can do it automatically.
Every time you're paid,
take a part of this money and invest it automatically.
Now, the next question is,
where should I put this money?
Should I just throw it in Tesla or Amazon?
Well, if you're not ready to do your own research,
or you don't want to try to find the best companies,
that you don't want to invest in real estate,
that you don't want to learn more about this type of more advanced thing,
that you just want to make your money work,
well, the simplest thing you can do
is to look at something called ETFs.
These are the index funds listed in the stock market,
which give you an exposure, not to one company,
but to many companies,
or even to hundreds of companies.
For example,
there is something called the S&P 500,
which is the group of the 500 largest companies in the stock market,
basically the 500 largest American companies.
And you can invest in the S&P 500,
starting with $1.
So you invest in this one thing,
and you get an exposure to 500 different companies.
And you don't have to worry about what each of these 500 companies do,
you just invest in America,
in the future of the American economy,
if that's something you believe in.
Now, every time you're paid,
put $100 in it.
Do this every month for a long period of time.
And you do it whether the market is up or down.
It doesn't matter,
it doesn't have to change your strategy.
Keep investing your money passively,
make it all automatic,
make it passive,
so that, in this way,
you don't even have to worry about it.
Just keep building.
And that's how you activate the cumulative effect.
The whole idea is not to make just one big turn once.
The idea is to put a little money and let it grow.
Put more money, let it grow, and so on.
And when you start putting your money to work,
and you do it regularly,
over time,
you can create a real wealth.
If we look at the power of the cumulative effect,
a few hundred dollars per month,
invested every month from 21 to 65 years old,
on an average income,
we are literally talking about several million dollars.
And it starts simply by making a small investment
and being regular.
