One of the big themes today is healthcare in our state. A lot of the bills relate to mental
health care that we're going to be hearing about today, improving access to health care. Nine of
these bills came through the Health, Aging, and Long-Term Care Committee, and a vast, vast
majority of them are bipartisan. So we have a couple licensing compact bills that make it easier
for out-of-state professionals to obtain their Wisconsin licenses and serve our Wisconsinites.
AB 259 allows senior care participants to purchase 100-day prescriptions, 100-day supply
of prescription drugs. This was something that was done during COVID and proved to be very
successful, especially for our seniors that live in rural areas and have a long ways to drive or
maybe don't have a driver's license or a means to get to the pharmacy. So that is a big one. AB
2541 allows for out-of-state mental health providers to practice via telehealth in
Wisconsin. This is a big deal, especially for those of us that live near bordering states,
metropolitan areas, like I live near Minneapolis-St. Paul. It's a big deal for my
constituents, and it ensures that you can get mental health care regardless what corner of
Wisconsin you do live in.
