DANGYANG DWIJENDRA

He is none other than Dang Hyang Lirakto, also known as Dang Hyang Dwi Jendre, or Ida Pedanda Sakti Waurau. He is a great pandita who came to Bali in the 15th century to do Dharma Yatra, a Dharma journey on the island of Bali. By using a boat as a ferry, he crossed the sea with his whole family. When he arrived in Bali, he discovered the Hindu civilization that had been alive. Then, he completed it by praising Sang Hyang Tripurusa, namely Shiva, Sadashiva, and Paramashiva. In terms of architecture and theology, he introduced Padmasana Lingga as a praise of Nirguna Brahman. He is also a Mahakavi with many literary works such as Kidung Sebul Bangkung, Sunia Keling, Mahese Langit, and many others. On his journey to spread the Dharma teachings on the island of Bali, he was finally promoted to be a Purohita or advisor to King Gel-Gel, namely Sri Dalem Watu Renggong. Several times, he traveled all over the island of Bali to Kelombok and Sumbawa. At the end of his journey, when he had received a whisper from Hyang Widi, then he meditated in Uluwatu until finally he attained Moksha, uniting with Brahman. Today, his Moksha place is known as Puroh Uluwatu.
