As we are getting older, we prioritize quality time with our loved ones over giving each other presents. This year, we decided to surprise my family with a cozy winter chalet stay in Mont-Tremblant, Canada.
Mont-Tremblant located in the province of Quebec, about two hours North of Montreal and is one of the most popular ski resort town in whole of Canada. It is the perfect place to visit during the Holidays no matter if you like skiing or not. We rented this beautiful and cozy Airbnb cottage (Wald Haus 180) for 2 nights to enjoy a Christmas together surrounded by a Canadian winter.

We are officially home for the holidays and we are surprising my family with this brand new
cottage. They are on their way but they haven't seen the place so they have
no idea where they're going. But I can't wait to show you around, so let's go.
A big thank you to Hover for sponsoring this little hostel with their brand new Hover
Welcome to our chalet here in Mont-Tremblant. So I'm going to give you a chalet tour,
but this is actually being filmed with the following mode on the Hover Air X1.
It's really really neat and as you can tell I'm mic'd up. We're mic'd through the Hover app and
they have an AI that does the noise reduction to take out what you would hear without it,
like the drone noise. It would sound like this without it. Okay, so now let's get on with the
So here we have a beautiful open concept. We have a full kitchen as well as a fireplace and even a
Christmas tree because we're actually doing Christmas with Dave's family here tomorrow
morning. So perfect ambiance. And then if we go upstairs, something that I love about this
Scandinavian style house is the fact that it has super tall ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows
basically. So you get a lot of natural light making it feel a lot bigger. Upstairs here we
have a little desk area. That's where Dave will probably do most of his working. And then two
bedrooms, a bathroom here with a shower as well. Now we still have a master bedroom downstairs I
want to show you. So come on back downstairs. So this kind of gives you a better view of the kitchen
too. We are probably going to have fondue tonight. You'll see what that is. Cheese and Chinese fondue.
Really yummy. And then in through here we have the master bedroom. So one thing that I love is
the basically headboard accent wall. I think it's called like shiplap or something.
Love that in a house. And then we have an ensuite. We have a tub and a shower.
It's stunning. But one more thing actually that I didn't show you.
We have these doors that open. In the summer it would be a lot better, don't get me wrong.
But we even have a spa out here with a barbecue seating area. Really summer or winter would work
fantastic for this place. And just like that our chalet tour has come to the end and I can just
land this little sucker right in my hand. Here are a few features about this drone as well. First
of all, enclosed design meaning that like it's very safe around people. You guys have no idea
how many times I clipped one of my fingers in a propeller on other drones. So this is really good.
Only 125 grams. If you know drone laws, drones under 250 grams make it much much easier to use
them in most countries. This drone also has many different flight modes. Our favorite one is
definitely the follow one. This makes it the king of b-roll, trust me. And you don't even need a
controller to control this drone. You can control it via the hover app. But you can simply select
one of the flight mode directly on the drone. It's going to go up from the palm of your hand,
do the pattern that you selected and then land back in your hand. And finally, like I said at the
beginning, this drone is ideal for creator going into the wild alone and they need a filming buddy.
Or if you simply need a different perspective because small drones like that truly gives you a
different perspective to the location where you're filming. So a big thank you to hover for sponsoring
this video. Make sure to check them out to get your own Air X1 with our link down below.
But now your family's just about here and we need to make sure this place is nice and ready for them.
Let's go.
Oh my god.
Hi buddy. Meet William, our newest nephew. Yeah, it's the first time we get to meet you here. And he's
even wearing his best Mickey shirt for the occasion. He knew what to wear. And that's Oliver the ugliest dog ever.
Did you guys miss her?
So we're just getting settled in the house, but the plan for supper is to have fondue,
a cheese and a Chinese fondue, which you will see that later. And that's pretty much it. So in the
meantime, we're just having a drink. The chalet came with a waitress that goes around with little snacks.
It's very nice. Thank you, ma'am.
So as I'm getting older, I kind of value more experience and time together with my family over
like things. So this is why we decided to like spend money on this chalet for like us to share
an experience. Just like, you know, it was super cool to have like my dad and my sister over in
Kenya. Like that was an amazing experience. And we, we had a lot of memories there last year. We did
like something similar with Tracy's family as well with a different chalet in Nova Scotia.
So yeah, like this is what I'm going for. Anyway, we're going to go to bed, even though it's only
830, like we're still a little jet lag. Yeah. I think I would have been better if I didn't wake
up so early. It was like 4am. We woke up at like 4.30. But yeah, tomorrow we have a full day plan
at the Mont-Tremblant village. So that's going to be pretty nice. And we're going to see you
in the morning. Actually tomorrow morning is Christmas. It's not really Christmas, but it's
Christmas for us. But it's Christmas for us. Yeah.
This is our first present ever to my new nephew, William. It's a very important one. It's going to
be a tradition. And it's going to build up. Okay. Okay. So look at this.
And then like, so this is like to build up the Disney fund. They never expire.
Never.
Gave them a little Mickey Mouse plush for now, but also like a gift card for the Disney fund.
They have a Disney fund. They eventually like bring them to Disney world or Disneyland.
I think this is the smartest thing. Start with a young and then you can slowly save up for it.
And that's the goal. And hopefully you can go with him for his first present.
For sure.
Even the dog got a present.
So now we are heading to the Mont-Tremblant village.
It's like the perfect kind of wintry village for, you know, the holidays.
Yeah.
It's actually one of the most famous ski resort in Canada. We're not going to go
skiing today, but it's something that you can do. It's probably the second one after BEMF,
I would say.
Welcome to Mont-Tremblant village. And the first stop is right behind me, Starbucks.
These look insane. Okay. Let's try them outside.
We decided not to get a normal beaver tail this time because I like the edges,
but the inside, I don't find it as great, but this is basically just full edge.
Tracy found another chocolate store. So guess where we're at? The chocolate store.
We were literally at the Lindt chocolate factory like four days ago
and Tracy's just here buying more chocolate.
You can never have too much chocolate. This is different. This is, this is Canadian.
Oh, this is different. Oh yeah. Yeah. No, no. Yeah.
Is it not Canadian?
Yeah. Yeah. A hundred percent.
It's called Rocky Mountain chocolate.
It's different. It doesn't taste the same as Swiss chocolate.
Something cool. And also the only free thing in Mont-Tremblant,
because Mont-Tremblant in general is very expensive, is that you can actually do a little
gondola ride up and down to where the ski rides are starting. So here we go.
Oh, it's a little chilly up here.
The wind's a little, uh...
Nice view though.
Crispier.
Crispier. That's the word.
So there is one last thing that we have to do here. It is, I would say it's like a very Canadian,
even more so cookback thing to do. And that is toffee on the snow, which is basically
maple syrup boiled on the snow to make a toffee candy. And it is so good. Let's go.
It's actually my favourite thing.
This store here sells everything maple syrup, like literally everything. It smells so good in here.
It does. That maple, this is what, would you like, look, maple popcorn. That looks so good.
Oh, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells.
Something that's super nice here in Tremblant is like the restaurant slash bar scene. There's like
so many different options. So I think tonight we're going to go to, I don't remember the name.
I'll tell you when we're up there. It's kind of like a, like a place with like pub kind of
food with like, you know, burgers and fish and chips and like that kind of stuff. It's fairly
good. And it's a micro brewery too. So like they have like cool beers and you know, that kind of
stuff. I think it's going to be a nice way to end our day here at the Tremblant Village.
This restaurant there, they have like their outdoor patio open and it's red because of like
all the heaters they have. And it looks warm because people take their jacket off and it's
like minus 10 right now. So the restaurant in question is La Diop. That's the name.
Burger time.
I got a salmon filet burger on ciabatta and it feels and smells really good.
All done. And it tastes fantastic. I got a smoked meat, which is basically like pastrami
and bread. And it's a very like Canadian thing, but also available in New York.
Tracy, restaurant review? Oh, I'm on this side. It was really good. Like we don't have pub
style food really that much. Yeah. That's cool. I liked it. Good beer too, but obviously it's a
micro brewery. So what would you expect? Alex, how was the restaurant? That was good. The fries
were so good. Oh yeah, the fries were super good. Agreed. That's what I thought.
Sometimes you just forget that feeling of cold. Like when we were in Switzerland, it was like zero
minus one and that's tolerable. That's super easy to dress for. But right now it's minus 15
and my lips are hard to talk. My brain is kind of frozen and that feeling when your jeans just like
hurt your legs because of the cold. That's what I feel like right now. That's what I'm like. Oh
yeah. It's nice to live in Kenya. Good morning from Winter Wonderland HQ. I'm not going to pretend
that I just woke up. I've been working at this desk and editing the Glacier Express video,
which is going to be great. Watch it because it's out as you see this since 5am. But let's go get
some breakfast. While my family left a few minutes ago, we were the last one behind to make sure that
everything is in order on Airbnb because it's my name on the reservation. But yeah, I think it was
a really good time with my family. I really appreciate this kind of experience. Now that
I'm a little bit older, instead of buying each other Legos. I think it's really great. Yeah.
That's it for us for today. We are going to see you guys back on our road trip from Montreal to
Halifax, Nova Scotia. But in the meantime, you should watch the Glacier Express video. It's a
No, no. Keep dancing. This is for the end of the video. I'll put the end card here. Perfect.
Yeah. Click here. Watch this video. It's really good. Yeah. It's 20 seconds. You still have
five seconds to go. Yeah. Yeah. Right there. Click on this one.
