So, what we want to share with you is, we've got some questions about whether root canal treatment is absolutely necessary or not. Now, when you go to a dentist and they tell you you need to have root canal, a lot of people kind of question or are skeptical about, why do I need root canal? I don't have pain, it doesn't hurt. But there's a reason why your dentist may recommend root canal. Now, root canal treatment is also called endodontic therapy, root canal treatment. And we need that treatment because the teeth, the teeth have nerves in them. Like in our body, everything is connected. We all have nerves. And so the teeth need to have nerves so that it can tell the body if there's a problem or not. That's why you may have some sensitivity to cold, sensitivity to hot. But if you have nerve tissue that's inflamed or infected, it's going to need root canal treatment. Now, why do we get inflammation of the nerve or infection of the nerve? Because it all starts from cavities. Teeth, the outer surface is the hardest organ in the body. Now, when the outer surface of the teeth, the enamel wears away, breaks down because of cavities, that cavity gets to the softer surface of the teeth, which is called dentin. And that can get inflamed much quicker, much more easily, and then lead to infections of the nerve. And so that's why we would recommend root canal treatment. Now, root canal treatment is the only way we can treat the teeth to save the teeth. Otherwise, if we don't do root canal treatment and you leave it alone, the nerve will die and you may wind up losing the teeth. Now, if you lose the teeth, what happens? Then now you have to replace it with a dental implant. And so we always want to try to save your teeth because your own natural teeth, I think, is going to be the best source of treatment that we can possibly have. So you want to try and save the teeth. And if we have infected nerves or infected teeth, you can only treat it and save it by doing root canal treatment. And so if your dentist recommends and tells you that it's necessary to have root canal treatment, it's always advised to trust your dentist because they can diagnose it from your x-rays, diagnose it from your symptoms, and looking at the clinically how much decay there is. It is if there's inflammation, if there's infection in the nerve, we need to treat the teeth, take out the nerve tissue, and put a filling into the roots to try and save that teeth.
