The best defense to avoid being hacked is education #cybersecurity

hi everyone this month I want to
challenge people to be a little bit more
diligent with cyber security I realize
that sounds like a big technical term
but all you have to do is just educate
yourself on a little bit of awareness
and just that tiny bit of awareness can
save you a world of headache I'll give
you a good example does anyone remember
back in
2014 when allegedly North Korea hacked
Sony it was a big international incident
there's a lot of evidence that it
probably was not North Korea but that's
not the point here how did they do it
they did something called social
engineering so 80% of all hacking is
social engineering that means instead of
hacking a computer or a phone or some
type of Technology they hack the person
because it's much easier to hack a
person than it is to hack a computer or
a piece of
technology so most of the hacking is
manipulating people into doing something
you want and that's exactly what
happened at
Sony um years later John McAfee
as in McAfee Antivirus that McAfee he
went on Varney and Company on falk's
business and showed him exactly how it's
done he called Varney's phone and vanney
let it go straight to
voicemail and he didn't even have to
pick up the phone and John McAfee sent a
little
code to his phone line which did all he
needed to do now he could call him right
back now that he had inserted his code
and and he made it look like he was
calling from Fox News business and he
did it all from his cell phone so so
that's that's exactly how that Sony hack
was done they called and pretended to be
Sony's it department and they asked for
confirmation of their password and the
person just gave their password over the
phone if you don't know how silly that
is you need to know how silly that is
you don't give your password ever to
anyone over the phone no matter who they
say they are so that's just one piece
and and to sort of prove that this is
real technology that this is exactly how
the hack was done despite what a lot of
the pundits report um something happened
to me back in October I got a phone call
on my cell phone from a number in China
I've recognize the country code AS China
I didn't pick it up I let it go to
voicemail and as soon as the voicemail
ended I got a text message from TMobile
saying thank you for your account
changes I was like so I had to call
T-Mobile customer service and sort of uh
figure out what what happened and they
couldn't figure it out and I found out
later by looking on my account online
that what they had done at that moment
is disabled my spam blocker because
T-Mobile has a Spam blocker they
disabled it uh by sending a signal to to
my voicemail um and it looked like in
their system it looked like it was done
at one of the T-Mobile stores but it
wasn't it was done from China so this
this is just one tiny tiny lesson
about not letting people fool you so
easily I know you can't prevent that
technical hack but what I'm saying is
the more you learn about how people
manipulate you the better you'll be so
I'll be putting out videos over the next
few weeks teaching people little tiny
tricks about social engineering and what
to avoid thanks all stay
safe why ha you
