Hello, hello everyone and welcome back to Wise IELTS.
Hello everyone and welcome back to Wise IELTS,
where IELTS dreams come true.
If this is your first time to attend Wise IELTS,
this is a series of writing
to help you easily get high scores in IELTS writing.
So, don't stop watching,
practice and apply to your IELTS test right away.
If speaking, listening and reading are all 3 parts,
then our writing only has 2 parts,
which are test 1 and test 2.
But less part doesn't mean it's easy.
So, in the first video in our Wise IELTS writing series today,
let's try to understand the general information,
the basic information of the writing test 1 company,
as well as I will guide you
how to write the introduction in the writing test 1.
So, let's go!
We need to pay attention to the following points
when writing test 1.
First, your answer must be displayed
in the format of hexadecimal or paragraph,
not bullet points.
Our writing must be presented in the form of a paragraph
with small paragraphs.
And if you use horizontal or semicolon marks,
as if we are presenting a set of notes,
then our writing will not be displayed anywhere.
Formals and academic words should be used in IELTS writing test 1.
Present and focus on significant and important information
instead of listing all the details.
Task achievement is an important scoring category.
Therefore, remember to focus on your question statements.
One last note here is Task Achievement,
one of the very important scoring criteria
that we will discuss later.
To increase the score in the IELTS writing test,
we must stick to the Marking Criteria.
Scoring criteria to create an excellent writing
and meet the requirements of the subject, right?
The Marking Criteria of IELTS writing
has 4 elements.
Task Achievement
Coherence and Cohesion

3 Methods for Rewriting an Introduction
Method 1
Use Synonyms to Paraphrase the Question
Subject, Verb, Phrase, and Important Information
Subject, Verb, and Important Information
After replacing the plural form in the sentence with the singular form, we have created a completely new sentence, but still in the context of the sentence.
To understand this method better, let's take an example.
So, example here we have
What is the sentence we have?
The graph below shows the proportion of the population aged 65 and over between 2000 and 2010 in Japan, the U.S.A and Vietnam.
Ok, what is the first step?
Ah, we have to define the factors, right?
The first factor is the subject verb here.
What is the subject?
The graph indicates
And the verb is the word
shows, right?
Next is what and when
What are we talking about here?
The population aged 65 and over, right?
And continue
When?
Between 2000 and 2010
Step 2
Find the verbs to replace the two factors
subject, verb and what, when, right?
And finally
Step 3
We will replace the subject with the verbs we have chosen.
So, we have a completely new example.
The chart illustrates the percentage of the population aged 65 and over in the period between 2000 and 2010 in 3 different countries including Japan, the U.S.A and Vietnam.
Method 2
Train the structure of the sentence
Method 3
Use the relative clauses and the reduction of relative clauses
To simplify this sentence, let's go back to the previous example.
In this example, instead of using age for the population,
you can use the relative clause in the sentence to change the sentence a little bit.
So, the new introduction we will have here is
The chart illustrates the percentage of the population who are 65 or more years.
An indispensable part of today's lesson is to introduce the commonly used verbs in writing test 1.
So, let's go to the comment section.
First, in the line graph, bar chart and table, there are 2 commonly used verbs.
But you miss them all the time.
They are the numberer and the amounter.
The numberer will go directly to the countable noun.
Conversely, the amounter will go in front of the uncountable noun.
Let's see the following 2 examples.
Teachers spent teaching in different schools in 4 different countries in 2001.
So, can we count the number of hours here?
We can count 1, 2, 3 hours, right?
The numberer will go to the countable noun.
Let's go back to the second example.
Electricity here is an uncountable noun, right?
Electricity is electricity.
Can we count 1, 2, 3 electricity?
Absolutely not, right?
So, electricity here will go to the countable noun.
You need to pay attention here.
In addition to the numeric nouns that can be distinguished by adding "-s or "-es at the end,
there are many other numeric nouns in English.
For example, even though there are "-s or "-es,
they all have the same word.
Or there are some words that originate from another language, not English.
For example, we have the word fungus.
The numeric noun of this word is fungi.
The second example.
In this example, there are some words that we need to pay attention to.
First,
the proportion of
Second,
the percentage of
And finally,
the figure
can be used to replace numbers or proportions.
Next, let's move on to the next example.
We will follow the following rules
to be able to paraphrase well for the opening of the lesson.
The fourth example.
This is the example of many steps in a program,
so the vocabulary used here is also a bit different from the other examples.
And the last example.
The middle and the end are also the most challenging for many students
because this lesson requires words to connect,
to connect sentences to describe different expressions in a sentence.
For example, what are the words that express the contrast?
Or what do you think are the supplementary words?
Besides, in addition, moreover, additionally, and apart from this.
The lesson on Translation, Common Vocabulary
is also the last part of today's IELTS writing lesson.
Wow, there's really a lot of information and knowledge to remember, right?
But don't rush to give up,
but keep going and change to the best to conquer IELTS,
because practice makes perfect.
