Hello guys and welcome back to WISE IELTS!

For those of you who are new to WISE, this is the Writing Series.
It's easy for you to get high scores in the IELTS Writing Contest.
So don't stop watching, practice and apply it to your exam!
Alright, do you remember what we learned the day before?
Yes, in the previous lesson, we learned how to write an excellent overview for Writing Test 1,
namely Diagrams with Time Period.
In the previous lesson, we continued to practice and practice for an overview,
but we will deal with another topic, which is Diagrams without Time Period.
In this type, Point Charts and Tables are the most common types of graphs.
Do you remember a basic structure for an overview?
Yes, that's General Transparency and Comparison.
For Diagrams without Time Period, we continue to apply the same rules,
but how to analyze them correctly?
How to highlight the most noteworthy points?
Let's review with me today!
Ok, so in this example, what is the topic of our Point Charts?
The Average Household Expenditures in Japan and Malaysia in which year?
Yes, 2010.
Now, let's take a look at this Point Chart.
Do you have any points that households in Japan and Malaysia have to divide?
We have 5 points.
First is Food, Transport, Housing, Healthcare, and Other Goods and Services.
Ok, keep going.
Now, let's take a look at this Point Chart.
What are the common points that you can highlight from the first look?
Which colors occupy the largest part in both countries?
Yes, that's Yellow and Green, corresponding to Food and Housing.
So, we will have a General Trend like this.
Overall, as can be seen, spending money on Food and Housing accounts for the largest proportion of expenses in both countries.
Ok, after processing the General Trend, we have to get the Comparison, right?
So, is there any data here that we can take out to compare with you?
Ah, there is a small note here.
That is, the Comparison here means that we have to show the most prominent difference between the topics here between Japan and Malaysia.
It's not just a single comparison like A is bigger than B.
So, what is the most prominent difference here?
Please pay attention to me.
What is the proportion of Transport and Healthcare in Japan?
Ah, 20% and 6%, right?
So, what about these numbers in Malaysia?
Only 10% and 3%.
What do these numbers have in common with each other?
Yes, the numbers in Japan are higher and even twice as high as in Malaysia.
Ok, and next we will process the Trend.
One of the Trends that contains a lot of information.
No need for you to think about it.
It must have the ability to observe in general as well as the ability to process fast numbers, right?
So, in this example, we have a chart that shows the spending of people in each country, including
Ireland, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Sweden.
In all three countries, it is
The second group is
And the last group is
Ok, the first one is General Trend.
Can you tell me what is the most special and prominent point of this chart?
Similarly, we will also analyze the very basic points such as
Then, look at the numbers in each group.
Can you tell me which group always shows the highest spending among these three groups?
Yes, that is
Right?
The numbers in this group are higher than the other two groups.
Let's move on to the Comparison.
Comparison here, we can compare it horizontally or vertically.
But here, if you compare it horizontally between countries, you will see too much information.
Because we have 5 countries, right?
And the numbers are also quite varied, high and low.
So, I will still choose a simpler way, which is to compare between you, between different items.
If in General Trend, we have the highest points, then what do you think is our lowest point?
Ah, it is very easy to recognize.
That is the
Right?
The highest is only 4.35%.
So, in this comparison, I will add a line to show the contrast with General Trend.
We will have a sentence like this
Which category has the largest percentages in the table?
Next, let's move on to the Map.
In this map, the map will show us the before and after of a place.
And it asks us to compare the changes that have occurred.
To write an overview for this map, we need to answer 2 questions.
The first is to evaluate the overall level, the change on the map, the change a lot or less, the change carefully or not.
And the second is what changes are the most noteworthy.
Ok, so in this example, we see that this village has changed a lot, right?
Ah, some shops have gradually changed to restaurants.
Or fish market has also been replaced by apartments.
So, first of all, this village has changed quite carefully, right?
Next, what changes are the most noteworthy?
Here you can see that the empty areas or forests have been replaced by golf courses or tennis courts, right?
And next to the hotel, they also built a car park.
So, the infrastructure of this village has gradually been replaced, upgraded to serve daily needs.
And one more important point is the main road.
The main road has also been gradually expanded, right?
So, we will have an overview as follows.
And finally, we come to the process level.
The process level is considered one of the most difficult levels.
Because you can come across quite unusual or too strange topics.
For example, the design of the operation of a steam locomotive or a hydropower plant.
Those are topics that we can only hear about, but we can't understand.
We can't understand anything in English, right?
So, how do we do it?
Let's watch it together.
Okay, so in this example, we have images summarizing the production process of a brick used in construction, right?
For the process, we don't have a general trend or the changes and comparisons that we can make.
So, to write an overview for this lesson, we also need to answer 2 basic questions.
First, is it a man-made or natural process?
How many stages are there?
Second, where does it start and where does it end?
So, in this example, is it a man-made or natural process?
Production of bricks is of course a man-made process, right?
And how many steps are there?
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. 7 stages.
Next, where does it start?
We can see that the image here starts with a digger and ends with a truck with delivery, right?
So, to sum up the 2 answers, we have an overview like this.
Overall, there are 7 stages in the process, beginning with the digging of a clay and culminating in delivery.
So, today we have gone through the overview for the diagram without time period in Writing Class 1.
Hopefully, after 2 lessons, now you can write a really good overview with just 4 hands, right?
Try to practice really hard.
As soon as you see the sentence, look at it and immediately produce an overview.
In addition to learning the right grammar, learning the right vocabulary, using the right way, you have to write and write again.
Only by writing and practicing can our writing skills improve quickly, right?
So, alright, that's all for today.
