The Eight Sufferings of Human Life
Birth, aging, illness, death, love, hatred, separation
are the sufferings of human life
that everyone has to go through
in order to appreciate the value of happiness.
So, where are our greatest sufferings?
1. Birth
The Eight Sufferings of Human Life
The Buddha said that the real world is suffering.
We live in this world, and we are suffering.
We live and die,
and we don't know when the cycle of rebirth will end.
People with this body
have to suffer in the suffering of this world.
So, when we are born,
the first sound we hear is crying.
Later in life,
the sound of crying represents sadness and grief.
2. Aging
Human life is like a bubble that passes through a window.
At the age of adolescence,
people say that
human life is like a bubble that passes through a window.
A horse gallops,
a car pulls up on the road,
and it passes through the window in a blink of an eye.
Li Bach also wrote a couple of poems
about this image of old age.
Longing for long hair, silver hair,
as bright as the snow in the afternoon.
Everyone has to grow old.
Although we don't see that we are aging every day,
ordinary people can't control this.
Every time I look back and see a few more silver hairs,
I feel sad.
3. Sickness
Sickness is the greatest suffering in human life.
People used to say that
the sky can't measure the wind, the clouds,
and people can't measure happiness.
Sickness is the greatest suffering in human life.
Everyone will have to go through it.
Today, we are strong and healthy,
but tomorrow we may suffer.
Life is not good.
Sickness is also a manifestation of karma.
Maybe from this life to another,
maybe in this life for everyone.
Because people need to go through karma,
they are born to suffer.
This is the rule of life.
It's hard to escape.
4. Death
Death is painful.
Buddhists believe that
death is not as terrible as people think.
Because they believe that
death is the beginning of a new life.
Reincarnation is for a new life to come.
Not wanting to leave this world
is the greatest suffering.
Because of this, many of us are afraid of pain,
fear of hunger, fear of cold.
In fact, we are all afraid of death.
5. Love must be divided
Love is the instinct of man.
Men and women come together
as a result of the union of heaven and earth.
But love also includes suffering.
Because when a person loves,
it is difficult to accept separation,
to become selfish.
People say,
in this world, what is love?
It is the promise of life and death.
6. Long-term regret
Love and regret
are the two sides of human life.
But we don't know how much we can love.
Regret is like a substance.
But no one understands
how much regret
will hurt others.
Too much love
also makes people more and more regretful.
The more love, the more regret.
Passion and desire
Desire is also the cause of regret.
Therefore, love is the origin of regret.
The more love, the deeper the regret.
7. Pray but can't
Buddhists believe that
the desire of a person
is like a tight rope.
When you can't pray,
you will turn it upside down,
hurting yourself, suffering.
The more you pray,
the more you suffer.
Because there are so many things you want,
but what you can achieve
is just a dream.
You don't just want it,
you just pray for it.
Everything depends on
your own happiness.
When you can't pray,
you dare to do bad things
to achieve your goal.
The more you get hurt,
the more you suffer.
8. Fall in love with what you see
People often fall in love
with things,
images,
things they hear,
see,
meet,
and feel.
That is the origin of suffering.
If you are deeply hurt,
people will fall in love with you
and can't escape.
This originates from the idea
that seeing is believing,
not seeing is not believing.
The truth is that
what we see with our eyes
is too little.
Only by changing our view
can we see the truth of life.
Let go of the past,
live the good life,
overcome the suffering of life.
Birth, old age, illness, death
are natural laws.
Everyone has to go through them in life.
To be born as a human being,
you have to accept its domination.
You can only accept it
with a straight-forward attitude.
Everyone's life is hard to perfect,
but it is not completely tragic.
You can adjust your attitude
and live happily.
If you know what you should keep
and what you should let go of,
life will be more meaningful.
Love more,
appreciate what you have now,
experience the suffering of life,
and you will appreciate the value of this life.
