Now that we have a rooftop tent, the adventure-mobile is finally ready for it's first little overlanding journey! We spent two days out near Mammoth Lakes, CA doing a little off-roading, camping, mountain biking, and off-grid living. Who knew rooftop tents were so comfortable? We could definitely get used to this...

Well, how is it in there? It is so
roomy in there. I love it. Better than the hammocks? I was just gonna say that.
If you watched our previous video, we said we really like sleeping in hammocks, but I think we're gonna really like sleeping in this.
What's up guys? What's going on everybody?
Welcome back to the channel. And if you're brand new to the channel, hi, my name is Cody.
And I'm Victoria. And lately we've been doing kind of like little outdoors adventure, like backpacking, hiking, those types of videos.
So if you like that stuff, make sure you subscribe because we have a lot more coming for you a bit later.
But yeah, and if you have been following us for some time,
you know that Cody actually recently bought a truck. And we're currently driving it, as you can tell.
But yeah, I told you guys I was gonna buy a truck and I kind of wanted to turn it into like a little adventure vehicle.
And it's finally ready for its first little journey. Now, it's not totally finished.
There's still a lot of things that I want to do to it.
But at least now it's livable and we can actually camp and cook and different things like that.
So today we're actually driving out to Mammoth Lakes.
So we have a couple of spots in mind that we want to overland to. I guess you can call it overlanding.
Yeah, overlanding slash camping. We brought the mountain bikes.
So we're definitely going to be doing some biking and apparently there's a bunch of hot springs out here as well.
A ton of hot springs out by Mammoth Lakes.
I'm hoping to at least check out one of the hot springs and otherwise just enjoy, you know,
some truck life and sleeping on top of the vehicle and hopefully just, you know,
getting into the mountains and having a good time. So it should be super fun.
So I, this has to be beginner's luck.
I don't think truck camping usually goes like this.
This is amazing.
OK, here's the truck behind me, right?
And that is our freaking view.
Look at this. Holy moly.
Yeah, we really lucked out on this one. Day one.
Like there's a couple of campers back here.
But there's just a couple of people back there.
This is like everything we could have ever hoped for.
OK, truck was already worth it.
Day one, totally worth it.
But so beautiful.
I think it's time to set up camp.
Yeah. Sick.
By the way, got the bikes, got the truck set up.
Got the tent. Victoria set up.
Got the wife.
Shoot. And OK, just I'm down for this.
I'm down for it.
Well, how is it in there?
It is so roomy in there.
I love it. Better than the hammocks?
I was just going to say that if you watched our previous video,
we said we really like sleeping in hammocks,
but I think we're going to really like sleeping in this.
Yeah, right. Just depends.
Hammocks are good for like the backcountry.
But this is luxury camping.
This is luxury right here.
It's so sweet.
This is some luxurious camping right here.
Like this is way different than camping back out in the mountains.
Like you don't really see anybody.
You don't talk to many people.
But here it's like a whole different culture, whole different community.
And it's like I got to get used to this because we're becoming overlanders now.
It's like, how do I talk to people?
How do I walk around?
Like I'm already awkward as it is.
That's why I like going out in the mountains.
But this is totally different.
But it's something that I can get used to for sure.
This bird has a fish in his talons.
He's got a fish.
He's taking it home.
Dang, that was sick.
What did you just find with a fish?
That's insane.
That was awesome.
What? I've never seen such a thing.
That was so cool.
So one thing you guys will learn
the longer that we do these videos is that I am not the chef at all.
So we're going to let Victoria explain what we got going on today.
All I know is it looks good.
That's all I know.
It looks and smells right.
I'm just like, hey, babe, that looks good.
That smells great.
But I have no idea what we got.
So, yeah, so we have today chicken fried rice.
And I just found this on Pinterest.
Like I just looked up an easy fried rice recipe.
And honestly, I chopped everything at home.
So it was like super easy to put together.
But I mean, so far, let's get this fried rice on air time.
Yeah. Oh, shoot.
So this is soy and maple syrup.
Maple syrup.
Yeah, which I thought was interesting.
But I'm like, oh, that's going to be delicious.
I can even smell it right now.
Call me a freaking chef.
Vicky T, you know what I'm saying?
Chef Boyardee for blue.
Nice.
Yeah, I think.
Wait, I'm just such an eater.
For real.
Driving up north on the Trans-Canada Highway.
The night is sweet.
A thousand stars.
Oh, yeah, let's go.
Driving up north on the Trans-Canada Highway.
This looks great.
I'm just out here just trying to look at mountains, basically.
Honestly, that's why I live.
That's why I go backpacking.
That's why I do anything is just to look at mountains.
Should I stay with you?
I know.
Should I stay for more?
Should I stay with you?
I know now.
We're just waiting for sunset to fire.
Is it? You think it'll fire, babe?
I mean, it's looking pretty promising.
I'm just going to shoot photos either way.
Either way, it is pretty beautiful.
Good morning.
How's it going?
I'm wide awake.
And it's like 530.
It's 530?
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh.
But I, I slept so good.
Did you?
Like, I forgot that we were sleeping on top of a truck.
Yeah, I slept super good as well.
Actually, this thing is a lot more comfortable
than like tent or hammock, but to be expected, I guess.
That's definitely luxury for sure.
Yeah. And the night was perfect.
It wasn't cold at all.
And it was just comfortable.
It was awesome.
Yeah, it was super nice.
I woke up to the birds chirping.
It was great.
They're still going off.
Yeah, they are.
But, man, I'll take this.
I'll take this little tent view.
There we go.
Sweet.
All right.
You guys already know what time it is.
Babe, what time is it?
It's food time.
It's always food time.
Check it out.
What do we got going today, babe?
So I had leftover.
This is my own concoction, by the way.
No Pinterest recipe here, but I had my own leftover sausage at home.
So it's sausage, broccoli, onions.
I'm going to add some eggs in it and then adding on top of it
some cheese, salsa, hot sauce, and then there's a tortilla if you want.
Dang, optional tortilla.
We're out here in the frickin middle of nowhere.
We got options.
We got options up in here.
Babe, you are killing it.
I am killing it.
I'm killing it.
Beyonce of the year award right there.
All right.
So we just left our first spot and it was absolutely beautiful.
It was so sick.
We had no expectations for this trip at all.
And day one was like way better than expected.
And we know it's not always going to be like that.
But we just got extremely lucky.
Yeah, I think our next spot probably won't be as cool.
But still, it's nice to just be outside and be sleeping in the car.
But now we're driving about an hour to go to the mountain biking trail
because we need to work off all the food that we just ate.
Yeah, we've been eating a little bit too much, but we are on our way
to a trail called Lower Rock Creek, which we've never ridden before.
We've actually never mountain biked out here at all.
We just found it on Google.
So hopefully it's pretty cool.
It seems like it's cool from, you know, pictures and videos.
But yeah, we're going to check it out.
It's like an hour from here.
So we're going to be cruising a little bit and it should be pretty fun.
You ready?
Let's do it.
All right, honesty time.
If a 10 is the best trail I've ever ridden in my life,
that trail was like a three and a half.
Not because like. Accurate or no?
Yeah. OK.
I think because like the trail itself, like the dirt was super slick.
Dirt was super loose most of the time.
It wasn't super flowy.
Like the corners come up super quick and then like right around the corner
would be like a gnarly, you know, like like a technical section
right after a corner that you can't really keep speed on the corner.
So you don't have speed to go over the anyways.
Yeah. Plus, well, the trail, to be honest, the trail is in three sections.
Yes. And we only did like section one and two, right?
Right. I think so.
No, actually, we did two and three.
Yeah. Two and three. Yeah.
So I guess section one is like more technical and better.
I don't know. Maybe it wasn't as flowy up there either.
Yeah, I don't know. But we're spoiled.
Yeah, I think that's what it is, is we're just spoiled.
But on this channel, you guys learn things about the outdoors
and I want to give you good advice.
So I would say that I don't even think it'd be fun for beginners.
Yeah, I don't know.
I may probably just go to a different trail if you're going to come out here.
I wouldn't come out here just to check out that trail for sure.
Yeah, don't do that. So.
That's not the truck.
Oh, getting a little rowdy.
Okay.
All right.
So welcome to spot number two.
Spot number two was a nightmare.
It was a huge nightmare.
I know we we look happy right now, but that's because we've relaxed a little bit.
This spot took us forever to find because we're super close to the hot springs.
And as you can imagine, the hot springs are very popular.
So literally every spot that might be good, somebody's already in it.
So we drove around in circles for like a mile trying to find something.
And we found this little spot right here.
So pretty cool.
That's where the truck is going to live.
There's a fire pit over there.
Although I don't think we're allowed to have fire pits.
But anyways, I'm just happy that we found a place to sleep
where we're not going to have to be like right next to somebody else.
So, yeah, this will work.
And it's getting kind of late.
The sun is actually starting to go down.
So we're going to get this all set up, start cooking some food
and try to enjoy our second night out in the truck.
Good morning.
Morning faces and all super early.
Five twenty.
And we're trying to get to the hot springs.
Very bumpy, very early.
But hopefully we're the only people there.
I can see the steam already from the springs.
OK, guys, so I think that is going to do it
for our first little truck adventure video.
We have a couple of trips down in the pipeline plan.
Yeah, I think we're going to try to go up north,
maybe get into the trees a little bit more.
Yeah. So stay tuned for that one.
Yeah. But let me know what you guys think about these videos.
It seems like the backpacking videos are doing pretty good.
But I'm curious to hear what you guys think about the whole truck
adventure life type videos.
So, yeah, go ahead and take one last look at the rig
and the beautiful view and all that good stuff.
It was super fun, but I think that's going to do it for this video.
So, yeah, until next time, we'll catch you guys in the next one.
Peace out. Bye.
