So today is going to be the start of a new series. I have two and the second will start in the middle
of August so please make sure you wait for that one. But for now we're going to focus on Sardinia,
well known as a paradise in the heart of the Mediterranean with sunny coasts and white sandy
beaches which are the main attraction. Now there's an endless list of places and experiences
to discover right here and in this video we're going to explore the most renowned towns and cities,
the characteristic islands and the important historical and cultural sites. So in this new
longer series I'll showcase a variety of suggestions for what you can see in Sardinia
on your next holiday. On the northwest Sardinian coast Alguero still has the remnants of its
Catalan past and what remains is in the form of Algariz and it's spoken at present by a small
percentage. The city is also well known for its historical centre, its monuments and its paved
alleyways. So undoubtedly you can see Alguero is a very beautiful town but to be honest it's also
quite busy and crowded with tourists. But the town exhibits a very striking gothic style historic
centre with the Cathedral of Santa Maria. So don't forget to go up the Campanile bell tower
and enjoy the beautiful views. But remember if you do have some time
and you want to have a short trip you should book a tour of Neptune's Caves.
Cagliari, the capital city of this beautiful island and it consists of four historic districts
La Marina, Castello, Stampace and Villanova and in each you'll find plenty of archaeological sites
such as museums, charming churches, stunning beaches and much much more.
One of the symbols of the city, Bastion of Sant Remy is situated in the area of Castello
and from its terrace you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
But finally spend some time on Poeto beach. It has eight kilometres of fine soft sand
and an amazing running and biking trail but it's also well known for its surfing.
By the way, did you know that Cagliari is quite the bird watching destination?
So you geeks out there, go for it. The Costa Smeralda is a paradise of
10 kilometres stretch between the Bay of Arzacena and the Gulf of Cuneana
and it's likely the most popular area in Sardinia. World famous for its fancy and
glamorous resorts and its phenomenal beaches. So you can imagine what comes with its popularity
but in reality it's one of the most expensive locations in all of Europe so please be aware
of that and don't be surprised. So if you want a taste of the high life and live like the rich
and famous you might even spot some celebrities along the way. It's the place to stay in Sardinia
if you can afford it and the most iconic towns in the Costa Smeralda are Porto Rotondo and Porto
Trovo. But point to note the beaches around Porto Trovo are in the same type of vibe. No free parking
lots, most of the beaches are private with sunbeds everywhere but nevertheless they are still really
beautiful just don't go there if your plan is to be alone. One of the best places to visit in Sardinia
is La Maddalena and this island is part of an archipelago which consists of seven islands just
off the north coast of Sardinia and you may see a few of these locations throughout this video.
So to go to Maddalena island there are boats and ferries leaving from Palau and several companies
offer this trip every single day. Even during a boat tour you might be able to see some dolphins,
sea turtles and other beautiful sea creatures and this is the reason why many people visit
La Maddalena especially for families but undoubtedly it's the beaches which are the
main attraction. There is no city or specific villages to visit but you can rent a car and
drive along the panoramic road going around the island to enjoy all the different views.
Now the next location is actually one of my favourite places,
Bosa, a town and commune in the province of Orestano and it's part of the Sardinia region
of Italy. It's set in a stunning location with rocky hills, green valleys, plenty of palm trees
and of course the Italian architecture along the pristine Mediterranean coast.
So Bosa provides that perfect escape from a busy life in the city. So to experience the
heart of the town is to explore the maze of medieval streets right in the town centre
which can only emphasize the rich heritage of this wonderful place because it is here
where you'll find many stone staircases, cobbled walkways and painted facades in those happy
pastel shades which you're seeing right now and you'll definitely come across the ruins of
ancient tanneries. Secluded beaches along the marina I think is one of the first choices
for your trip to Sardinia. Punta Melentis near Villa Semillas in southwestern Sardinia
is one of the island's most scenic beaches. So this small beach known for its arch shape
takes its name from the donkey Sumalenti which is in Sardinian that in the past was used to
carry the granite found rock in the area but with its incredibly fine white sand,
very shallow waters that are typically calm and thanks to the fact that it's nicely sheltered
from the wind it's a fantastic beach to spend a day on. One of them has mostly large pebbles
so it's not very comfortable and doesn't get many visitors but the main one has nice soft sand
and gets really packed in the summer months. There's even a limit to the amount of visitors
but overall I think it's a great opportunity to enjoy. A trip to the southern parts of Sardinia
should lead you to paying a visit to Porto Flavio. This is one of the most unique and
breathtaking places to visit on the island. A truly one-of-a-kind in the world and it's
only an hour and a half's drive from Cairi. No other port or sea harbour in the world
is quite like Italy's Porto Flavio. It was built in 1924. The ingenious cliff face port
allowed workers to lower or directly down from the cliff into cargo ships just waiting below.
I think you should hire a boat and to see it from the outside. Yes tickets can be purchased
online for a tour which is roughly around 15 to 10 euros but I don't think it's in an orderly
fashion. It gets absolutely packed and to be quite honest with you the people running it
are ******* annoying. Hire a boat and you can get the best views from the outside.
If you're looking for the ultimate outdoor adventure in Sardinia then you need to head
to the Superamonte. It's an outdoor playground where you can take on a whole range of activities
from the strenuous and the gentle and the best base for exploring the Superamonte is the west
coast town of Cala Gonone. It's a charming town and I think it's one of the best places to stay
in Sardinia. It's absolutely blessed with spectacular caustic highlands where rivers
have carved deep ravines and canyons so the Superamonte is like a natural wonderland
where rivers flow mostly underground creating some really awesome caves. Castel Sardo is a
picturesque historic town on the northern coast of Sardinia. It's an old town fortified with a castle
and it's an interesting and very atmospheric place to visit especially because its position
makes it a good stop on a tour between western Sardinia and the islands and resorts of the east.
So the castle is the principal tourist site so overall it's a very charming town in Sardinia
full of hidden treasures. Chia is a pretty tourist destination on Sardinia's south coast
and is renowned for its paradise Caribbean style beach. Chia is perfect for those looking for a
beach holiday yet still only 18 kilometers from the vibrant capital of Cagliari but the village
itself hosts a range of small shops, supermarket, plenty of restaurants and the typical Sardinian
cheese dairy. But besides all that it's the beach, crystal clear water and the soft sand
which is why you would come here. Number 11 is a really stunning location it's called San Giovanni
de Senis and it's a quaint coastal village that may be known for its beautiful beaches
but let me tell you it is its archaeological treasure which takes the prize. For example
the ancient Venetian city of Tharros. So you can relax by the sea and enjoy all the wonderful fresh
seafood but let me tell you it's the historical sites which is the number one reason why it's on
this list. Right on the northern coast of Sardinia, Bajo Sardinia is a charming seaside town and it's
known for its crystal clear waters and very sandy beaches. So here you can also relax on the beach,
enjoy plenty of the water sports available but also explore the range of local shops and the
but it's the views which make it the perfect getaway. Arzanquena and this is located right
in the heart of Costa Smeralda which we mentioned earlier in the video but this is the place where
you would want to discover some ancient structures and explore the archaeological sites. A great
choice if you want a bit of the Sardinian experience as well as enjoy some cultural
richness. And those same ancient structures will also take you to Torralba. You can visit one of
the best preserved nuraga in Sardinia. So these are ancient sites in between the bronze and middle
ages. There's also a small town which you can immerse yourself right in the island's ancient
history and enjoy the peaceful countryside. So this is the ideal spot for some of you history buffs.
Now we come to the northernmost town of Sardinia, just 12 kilometers away from Corsica,
Santa Teresa di Gallora. One of the most popular seaside resorts founded about 200 years ago by
King Vittorio Emanuele. So it's a modern town that's full of attractions but its surrounding
territory carries thousands of years of history behind it. You'll notice the beaches offering
golden sand, beautiful clear water, which is excellent for snorkeling and scuba diving.
And closest to the town center is Reina Bianca beach. Another interesting place in Sardinia
is Stantino. It's a charming little village in the northwestern part of Sardinia, right at the very
edge of the island. Founded in 1885, the most famous reason why I suggest you visit here is to
visit La Pilosa beach. Beautiful colors of the water, always calm and clear, which is really
handy for families. And the beach has been nominated several times over as one of the
most beautiful beaches in the world. So the main reasons why you would drive to visit Stantino is
literally to visit the most famous beach. And there you have it folks, that was Juicy Sardinia Uncovered.
A wonderful holiday destination for families or anyone that wants pure relaxation. There are
plenty of beaches all the way around the island, such as La Mandelena. Very calm and crystal clear
waters, so it is really, as I mentioned, perfect for relaxation. For those of you visiting this
channel for the first time, don't forget to check out the playlist. There are plenty of destinations
from around the world that you can enjoy. And a big thank you to those of you who have been
supporting this channel from day one or day 365. Thank you. Also, I have actually filmed a few
different videos recently, which will come out in the following months. So things are going to change
slightly, as I keep mentioning before. It's just taken so much time to make it happen because I
have got a ******* ton of footage and I'm trying to get rid of it by making these videos. So
be good, be kind and be careful. Ciao.
