Get vaccinated and if we're focused on those most likely to get really sick
from COVID and RSV. At CDC our work
prepare for the fall and winter started even before last season was over. Rare clinicians
needed more support. CDC worked with partners with deep reach into the most at-risk populations.
We certainly made it easier as we go into this this season for clinicians to pre-order vaccines
for the upcoming season both from the vaccines for children's program and from manufacturers.
Thank you. We created streamlined educational materials with our clinician partners and we
work with electronic health record scheduling platform and clinic representatives. You do not
have to stay. No conflicts. Paul Conway from AAPP. Patty Costello is not attending.

Okay. Thank you for joining. I would like to establish a forum. We have met meeting forum.
We have not met voting forum. Public comment is scheduled for after the presentation.
When the comment period opens, the coordinator will provide instructions for how members of
the public may provide comment. Public comment should be limited to three minutes. And we ask
that you clearly state your name and organization for the record before providing your comment.
Please note that the public comment period is not a question and answer session. Public comment
will be after the presentations. And also, if you are not selected for public comment today,
you can please submit your written public comment to the HCPAC inbox, which is HCPAC at CDC.gov.
All right. I'll hand it over to you, Alex. Great. Thanks, Sydney. And welcome everyone to the August
virtual HCPAC meeting. I'm going to just start off with a few quick announcements. I want to
remind everyone that nomination for membership in the Health Care Infection Control Practices
Advisory Committee is open. Please, if you have suggestions, send those to our box at
HCPAC at CDC.gov before September 29, 2023. Also wanted to highlight that we are now posting the
HCPAC presentations to the HCPAC website. We will also be doing that for the presentations from
today after the meeting, and we'll also be sending those out to all registrants after
the conclusion of the meeting today. I also have a special announcement. We are still having some
challenges with some of our packages for members. And so I think, as you all, many of you recognize,
we have not had a chair for the past meeting and this meeting. In light of the fact that we expect
that to continue, we have elected to appoint an interim chair for the committee. So I'm happy to
announce that Sharon Wright, who has been a member for a while, will be our interim chair probably
from now until the end of the year. I think everyone, many people know Dr. Wright. She is
the Chief Infection Prevention Officer for the Beth Israel Leahy Health System and is an Associate
Professor of Medicine at the Harvard Medical School, is on faculty.
