Hello everyone, welcome to HongYuanKanChina. I'm Sanyu.
Many people have questioned and criticized the QBU-Z191 automatic rifle developed by China.
This rifle was originally designed to replace the QBZ-95 automatic rifle.
However, in terms of performance, it did not achieve the advantage of the QBZ-95 automatic rifle.
In the case of no major breakthrough in firing,
the short barrel design was used to meet the requirements of full barrel length.
As a result, the rate of fire was reduced and the firing range was shortened, which was not powerful enough.
The actual combat performance of QBZ-191 is not even as good as the improved version of the QBZ-951 automatic rifle.
It can only be used to suppress leeks and can't hit the U.S. Army.
If we divide light weapons into different eras,
we can think of QBZ-951 and the American M16A4 and the Russian AK-74M as products of the same era.
On the other hand, QBZ-191 is in the same era as the American M4 and the Russian AK-12.
From the details of some designs,
QBZ-191 is directly related to the AR series of rifle designs in many aspects.
For example, the ejection port, barrel release, and safety position are all similar to the AR series of rifles.
They are all designed to complete the design cycle by using the parts inside the trigger body drive.
At the same time, the recoil spring and the buffer are also the same as the AR series.
They are all placed inside the barrel.
At the top of QBZ-191, there is also a Picatinny rail.
This is obviously inspired by the current European rifle.
In addition to the special bullets in China,
QBZ-191 is basically an AR-15 variant.
It uses a similar modular design on the lower and upper parts of the rifle.
In the early days, the prototype was even compared with the AR-15 class.
QBZ-191 also uses a buffer tube.
It looks like a variant of the Magpul magazine.
The only difference is that it uses a live cartridge,
instead of a direct impact system.
Because of this,
QBZ-191's AR series rifles are the same.
The barrel release can only be tightened and cannot be folded.
If you don't open the barrel release, you can't shoot.
The barrel is not long, but the barrel is very long.
Perfectly inherits the shortcomings of the AR series.
QBZ-191's magazine design is similar to the AK series rifles,
such as the AK-47 and AK-74.
As a result, QBZ-191 is just a replica of the old rifle.
Some adjustments have been made before the mass production,
and the number of copies is not shameful.
After all, most countries in the world
will refer to the successful design of the AR and AK series when making light weapons.
However, it is shameful that China claims that QBZ-191 is fully self-developed,
and even promotes it as the next generation of automatic rifles.
But in fact, it is the same equipment as the M4,
and now the U.S. military has already eliminated the M4,
and began to use more advanced rifles,
such as the XM7 and XM5 launched by Seager.
So what about the real plagiarism level of QBZ-191?
The Chinese army still uses 5.8mm bullets,
which is lower than the SS-109 bullets used by the U.S. military.
This directly affects the killing power and range of the QBZ-191 rifle.
Let's talk about the short version first.
QBZ-191 and Mk18 are both for close combat.
Both have very strong killing power within 15 meters,
but more than 100 meters,
Mk18 can still effectively shoot,
QBZ-191 is more difficult.
Let's look at the medium version,
QBZ-191 and M4 are for 150-meter combat.
In this distance, the two are close,
but the M4 can effectively shoot up to 500 meters,
while QBZ-191 can only shoot up to 300 meters,
so M4 is more advantageous for long-distance combat.
Finally, the long version QBZ-191 corresponds to the M16 of the U.S. military,
M16 can shoot up to 550 meters,
and can still maintain high accuracy and killing power within 550 meters.
In contrast, the QBZ-191 long version can only kill at more than 300 meters,
far from accurate shooting and firepower suppression,
M16 is better than QBZ-191.
The three rifles of the U.S. military, Mk18, M4 and M16,
are all better than QBZ-191.
If you really want to go to the battlefield,
QBZ-191 is afraid that it is difficult to get cheap.
Compared with the old QBZ-95E rifle,
QBZ-191 is no better than QBZ-95E.
The QBZ-95E rifle has undergone many years of service and improvement.
In terms of shooting accuracy,
stability when shooting,
and reliability under adverse conditions,
QBZ-191 has reached a fairly high level.
In contrast, QBZ-191 as a new model
has no obvious advantage in these performance indicators,
even worse than QBZ-95E in some aspects.
QBZ-95E's longest barrel,
as long as it is extended by 9 cm,
can increase the initial speed to 975 meters per second,
greatly increasing the killing power and shooting performance.
The total barrel length is equivalent to the shortest QBZ-191.
Isn't this pretty good?
Unfortunately, QBZ-191 must cancel the QBZ-95E's
no-barrel drag design.
This plan doesn't work.
QBZ-191 simply copies the U.S. military AR rifle family's
deep-shrinked barrel drag design,
resulting in the overall balance of QBZ-191
less than QBZ-95E.
The recoil distribution is also not optimized.
It is not as good as QBZ-95E in practice.
In fact, it is more difficult to accurately control when shooting continuously.
QBZ-191 cannot be shot in three consecutive shots.
The position of the back of the gun with the buckle
such a human engineering detail
is too unreasonable.
Long-term use will make the shoulder uncomfortable.
As a result, QBZ-191, which replaces QBZ-95E,
is not as good as QBZ-95E
in many details and performance.
As a result, this kind of gun can only be used to suppress leeks,
not to fight.
I don't know why the Chinese army is so stupid.
With the original gun in hand,
it can't be compared with the original.
The new QBZ-191 is not even as good as the previous QBZ-95E.
Some media exposed the potential problems of QBZ-191 rifles.
First of all, the quality of the plastic magazine is worrying.
It is reported that these magazines are not strong enough.
It is easy to deform when transporting, colliding, or even pressing by hand.
Once deformed, it may lead to failure of ammunition,
and affect the combat effectiveness.
There are signs that QBZ-191 rifle processing may be flawed.
A video of a close-up training shows
that when shooting at a distance of 6 meters,
the bullet left an obvious keyhole on the fingerboard.
The keyhole is usually because the bullet is unstable when leaving the barrel.
It rolls in the air instead of flying in a straight line.
Experts think that this may be due to the irregular processing of the barrel.
It's hard to tell.
Irregularity leads to unstable bullet rotation.
Although the impact is limited when shooting at close range,
when shooting at long range,
the speed and accuracy of the bullet will be significantly reduced.
Of course, we can't rule out the possibility that the special police in the video used a training bullet or a rubber bullet.
But if these special factors don't exist,
the keyhole problem of QBZ-191 is worth noting.
It reveals that when China produces large-scale rifles,
there may be quality control and process defects.
As a new rifle,
QBZ-191 is responsible for providing advanced firepower to the Chinese army.
However, if there are frequent failures of ammunition or inaccurate shooting in actual combat,
it will directly affect the ability of the troops to fight.
In the past two or three years, the Chinese army has started to equip the QBZ-191 rifle.
However, the QBZ-191 rifle is used by 2.5 million people.
This is $2 billion.
Although China is not short of military spending,
the country is more inclined to invest in the development of cutting-edge weapons such as missiles.
Therefore, in the process of large-scale replacement of QBZ-191,
Beijing may take measures to reduce costs and cause quality control defects.
Throughout history, the Chinese military has always been inferior to the soldiers in personal equipment.
In 2014, China's military equipment spending was only one-third of the U.S. military.
Even the helmet was chosen to be made of steel, far inferior to Kevlar.
In order to save expenses, communication and navigation equipment are even more expensive.
Today, if the concept of such a large number of light-weight quality has not yet changed,
the promotion of QBZ-191 will be affected.
If you consider Xi Jinping's idea of building an army,
it is more inclined to large-scale heavy equipment.
It is estimated that it will take several years to fully change the equipment.
The current intention is mainly to rely on QBZ-191 rifle.
But this rifle has a lot of problems.
QBZ-191 is a machine-aimed rifle.
The observation hole is very small.
It is difficult for shooters to accurately aim at the target in the evening.
It is impossible to shoot at night.
In comparison, the AR-15 rifle of the U.S. military allows shooters to flexibly replace different types of sights.
And the adjustment method of the sight is also very simple.
Compared with QBZ-95, the domestic white light sight is very small.
The clearance is poor and the viewing angle is also very narrow.
It is difficult to clearly identify the target in a dark environment.
Its accuracy is only about 1.5 MOA.
If you want to improve the accuracy, you may need to replace a higher quality sight.
QBZ-95 is not as good as the Western rifles such as the AR-15 in terms of extensibility.
The AR-15 has multiple Picatinny rails.
The shooter can flexibly install tactical flashlights, laser indicators, and different types of white light sights according to the task.
You can even add a red dot sight on the main sight to create your own configuration.
In terms of manpower, QBZ-95 is no match for the AR-15.
The shooting selector and safety of QBZ-95 are located near the rifle.
The shooter does not need to move, and the holster can be easily operated.
However, the shooting selector of QBZ-95 is designed behind the barrel.
Every time you operate it, the shooter has to put his hand behind the barrel.
It is not convenient and not safe.
As for the shooting feel, QBZ-95 has good recoil, but the texture of the trigger is general.
QBZ-95 uses plastic magazine.
Although the rifle of QBZ-95 is made of plastic, the quality and strength of QBZ-95 are significantly different.
QBZ-95 is easier to deform when it is transported and stored.
This leads to deviations in the position of the bullet, which can cause malfunction such as jamming and misfire.
This reduces the reliability of the weapon.
On the other hand, QBZ-95 attaches great importance to the quality and reliability of weapon equipment.
Even a small magazine must be tested repeatedly to ensure that it can work stably under various conditions.
The same problem also occurs in the firepower configuration of the Chinese army squadron.
Originally, the QBZ-95 is significantly improved in power and range compared to the QBZ-95 rifle.
It is more suitable as a squadron's firepower backbone.
However, due to the QBZ-95 rifle, the manufacturing cost is higher than the QBZ-95 rifle.
Many grassroots troops are not equipped, but only equipped with QBZ-95 rifles.
This leads to insufficient firepower of the squadron, but in fact, the unit cost of QBZ-95 rifles may be a few cents higher.
If the combat effectiveness of the squadron's general equipment is greatly improved, it can be said that it is a great investment.
In contrast, the general equipment of the U.S. military squadron is equipped with M249 automatic weapons,
as well as M240 common machine guns, which provide heavy firepower support and serve as M110 sniper rifles, etc.
The overall firepower covers the full range of firepower density and range.
In this case, once it is at war with the U.S. military, the firepower of the Chinese army is not enough.
Whether it is long-range firepower suppression or precision strike, it is difficult to reach the level of the U.S. military.
Although the Chinese army has also developed some new sniper rifles and precision rifles,
such as the QBU-88, but it has not been widely equipped in the squadron.
This kind of single-weapon level causes the Communist army squadron to be difficult to effectively counterattack when it is far from the enemy's firepower.
It will also be hard to resist when quickly attacking the enemy's key targets or complex terrain combat.
Before 1949, Chinese soldiers used weapons from the Wuhua Gate.
Chinese soldiers in the northeast used Japanese rifles, while American rifles were used in Shanghai.
French rifles were used in Yunnan, and Russian rifles were used in the northwest.
The chaotic equipment system caused the non-standardization of rifles, which greatly restricted the military's combat ability.
After the CCP was established, the Soviet AK-47 rifle equipment continued to flow into China.
Later, the CCP produced a large number of 56-round automatic rifles.
Later, the 63-round and 66-round rifles were also modified on the basis of Soviet design.
Until February 1979, the Communist army entered Vietnam and still used variations of the AK-47 and SKS.
In this war, Vietnam also used a similar rifle.
The Communist army's rifles did not show obvious advantages, so the Communist army wanted to develop a new rifle.
The development and launch of the 81-round rifle began in 1979 and entered the prototype stage in 1984.
In 1986, the rifle was fully produced, but due to the lack of work on the design, there were many problems with this rifle.
Basically, the improvement of the 66-round rifle could not leave the shadow of the Soviet Union.
For this reason, China decided to develop a rifle that really belonged to itself.
In the early 1990s, China invited two giants in the rifle manufacturing industry.
They are AR-15 inventor Eugene Stoner and AK-47 designer Mikhail Kalashnikov.
The two provided valuable technology to China, especially Stoner's opinion was more valued by Chinese peers.
The QBZ-95 was designed after absorbing this new knowledge.
This rifle was introduced into production in 1995 and quickly became a standard equipment for the Chinese army.
The QBZ-95 is an assault rifle with an effective range of about 500 meters.
The effective range of the target is about 300 meters, and it fires Chinese 5.8x42mm bullets.
Designed specifically for the QBZ-95, the standard magazine capacity is 30 rounds, and the rate of fire is about 650 rounds per minute.
The QBZ-95 also exposed the lack of design and manufacturing experience of the Chinese Communist Party.
The QBZ-95, which is equipped by some soldiers, is more prone to failure when switching shooting modes in real-time exercises.
Although the single soldier equipment is only a small part of the army's overall equipment,
it directly reflects a country's weapon design concept and industrial manufacturing ability.
If you can't even make a bullet, how can you believe that you can build an aircraft carrier that can hit accurately thousands of miles away?
If you can't even reach a high standard for the design of a rifle, how can you believe that the stealth fighter you developed can stand alone on the battlefield?
Some companies often prioritize cost over quality when providing equipment for the Communist Army,
and they may wear unpractical shoes or unqualified combat suits.
Many times, the equipment you see on the parade and the equipment of the real army is a natural difference.
The US military's bulletproof vests have a long history, and the Communist Army has only started to produce a small number of equipment in recent years.
It is still unknown when it will be fully popularized.
In terms of weapon design concept, many domestic weapons are still inherited from Russia,
and even the Soviet Union's old-fashioned design concept has neglected the human-machine effect,
often allowing soldiers to adapt to weapons rather than considering the ease of use of weapons when designing.
The US military has a long history of research and development on night vision equipment,
such as binoculars, night vision devices, and other devices have already been popularized in the US military,
and they have also reached a very mature level in terms of auditory protection and battlefield communication functions.
In recent exercises, the Communist Army began to equip electronic night vision devices.
From a long-term perspective, electronic night vision devices can recognize full-scale infrared laser indicators,
which means that the US military's laser indicators will do nothing in front of the Communist Army's electronic night vision devices.
However, this does not mean that the gap between the Communist Army and the US military is shrinking rapidly.
The US military has launched a new smart night vision system through cooperation with Microsoft,
which is Microsoft's HoloLens.
In combination with this technology, they have developed a new single-soldier combat support system,
which is not just a simple night vision device, but also includes a hot imaging and war information command system.
This means that any soldier who is equipped with this all-weather enhancement system
The advanced level of this system is incomparable to traditional equipment.
There is still a considerable gap between Chinese single-soldier weapons and the US military.
Whether it's rifle performance or tactical equipment,
the Chinese military is significantly behind the US military,
especially on the key indicators of weapon precision, reliability, and manpower.
There is still a lot of room for improvement compared to US-made Chinese weapons.
The reason for this gap is that,
on the one hand, China is lagging behind in the field of light weapons development and manufacturing,
lack of experience and technical foundation,
and many design concepts are still outdated Soviet models,
neglecting the comfort of weapon use.
On the other hand, the purchase system of Chinese weapons is problematic,
over-emphasizing cost control and neglecting weapon performance,
so that many troops use high-quality equipment.
In this regard, some Chinese military enterprises are lacking in integrity.
In the process of weapon production,
decoupling materials, false labels, and military goods have become violent lies.
Compared to this, the US single-soldier equipment reflects a modern concept based on people.
From weapon design to tactical equipment,
the military fully considers the needs of users,
emphasizes human-machine function, and pursues superior performance.
The purchase system of US military equipment is strictly regulated.
Eliminate unqualified products,
ensure that officers and soldiers use the most reliable weapons,
US military enterprises value reputation,
strive for excellence, and always put the quality of products first.
The US military also attaches great importance to the intelligent informationization of single-soldier equipment,
considering single-soldiers as sensors and nodes.
Through advanced electronic equipment,
the sense of style and decision-making are realized,
and the combat performance is greatly improved.
The gap between China and the US military in weapon equipment
reflects the gap between the two countries in military concepts and industrial foundations.
This is not a red loop that can be narrowed in a short time.
