And still in his fine physical fettle as he was when he came at you.
Fit as could be, strong as an ox, and he's still got the fire in his veins.
He still loves playing golf.
And that's essential. He's four under par.
Kjeldsen won over through the first four. 1.26 to the pin here at the fifth.
That'll do. That's a much better shot from Soren Kjeldsen.
I still want to, obviously with being involved with Luke,
for Beth Page, I'll probably come back and play a few events next year
just to stay in touch with everyone.
But my golf is definitely on the championship tour now.
And then I obviously love being involved in this championship.
Nicely done from David Horsey, a former Danish Golf Championship winner.
Made in Himmelland, as it was known when David won it.
Cut there from Daniel Gambins.
We begin our update with the man who is defending the title here,
Richard Boxall, Rasmus Heuger.
Yes, and this is his tee shot at the seventh.
Playing 140 yards, five par threes around here.
That was an excellent little shot.
Provins off the tee at the eighth. This was his third at the par four.
Chance to a save par.
It is, and this is for a birdie at the ninth.
Round of 17. That'll do.
You can take anything around about level par.
But the flag is just on the left side as we look at that.
About there.
Back to nine. This is Rasmus Heuger for a closing birdie.
And a round of 65.
What a stop that is for the defending champion.
That is hugely impressive.
Nicely done from Shubhankar Sharma.
That's a birdie birdie start for the Indian.
Over to nine and a Nicholas Norgard.
Finishing out his round.
This for a level par 71.
Well done. Enjoying his best season to date on the DP World Tour.
A triple and a double.
Still managed to shoot level par.
It feels like that is beckoning.
He doesn't look overly impressed.
But Joe does that look pretty well.
And that is a fantastic shot.
So he'll have a putt there for an opening eagle.
Will Joe.
Sharma to start with four birdies.
That will be some start.
Oh, a beauty. 59.
Let's get watching.
What a start to the day.
The fifth. It's the third shot now, Sharma.
So for five on the spin, he's going to knock this one in.
I'll tell you what, he's not far off.
Well, that would have been quite something, wouldn't it, Richard?
You set it up.
I was thinking, Boxy, don't be ridiculous.
There you go.
Peterson.
Sounded like a clean strike.
Or was it ever?
That is just gorgeous golf shot.
Should be a little bit right to left on that breeze.
Deserves a two, actually.
I can't imagine many got it closer than this.
And gets it as well.
Excellent stuff.
He'll have had a few days like this over at Hollywood Golf Club in Northern Ireland, won't he?
Tom McKibben.
Ollison, meanwhile, back at four.
Just for a par.
Missed it well left.
Scorecard paints, no pictures.
Unbelievable.
It could have been four overs right now.
End over end.
Get your line.
Get your eagle eyes on the prize.
Back to business as usual for Roberto.
Cuso.
Oh, that'll do nicely.
Much needed as well.
And a nice bounce back.
140.
Beautiful little par three, this.
Tiny little target.
But it can be done just like that.
Tell them to expect the worst and enjoy the worst, really.
And that all the things that are going to come at you and kind of look forward to that challenge of
What a lovely shot that was.
Nikolaj Hojgar.
For birdie at seven.
There we go.
First birdie today for the day.
On a normal day, this would be spinny.
Oh, get down.
Not the prettiest spin, as you said, Anthony, on that one.
Full shot of Ollison here at the ninth.
Probably be one of those holes where he'll walk off with a five.
Get in.
Oh, he does.
He's had a bit of a bad luck down this hole.
It is another birdie for Chewbacca Sharma.
That's a wonderful outward nine.
Five under par.
And in 31, he's won over for the 10th and the 11th.
So he could do with this, get this back.
Bit of left and right to Nik.
Round you come.
Oh, beautiful.
Back to second spot on his own.
79.
Spin control at a premium for Torbjorn.
Pitching up the hill.
Got it nicely there, didn't they?
I thought that was going to zip back to the fringe, didn't you?
Proper, proper bunker shot.
Oh, that's just beautiful.
Yeah, he obviously laid up backing himself with his wedge play.
Unusually short, but you know what?
He knows if he misses the green, he can do that all day long.
Joe Dean deep in the woods at 12.
So presumably not out of bounds.
Oh, he found that.
That was fortunate.
Oh, Joe Dean.
Put me down for a four.
He'd have taken that when he saw his tee shot in flight about 20 minutes ago.
High class shot from Otegi.
Peering through the rain to try and see that one down.
Pin tight to him here.
Trying to feed one in.
Needs some action.
Yeah, very tasty indeed.
And working well.
To two under.
Attempted to save par.
This would get down on the statistics as zero pats.
It's off the edge of the green.
Zero-pat par.
That's a lovely way to end the day, isn't it?
He didn't want the bogey-bogey finish there.
68.
He'd be delighted with that.
This is relatively simple.
He just doesn't want to go under the ball.
That's the only issue.
It's sitting that well.
Very, very good.
I didn't think when we looked down there yesterday,
I didn't think it was conceivable that you could possibly get a good
lie down there, Boxy.
It was impossible, wasn't it?
Yeah.
That's a great break.
That's an excellent shape.
Well, it has been quite an attritional afternoon, hasn't it?
Most of the good scoring came this morning.
Rasmus Heugard, defending champion, getting off to the ideal start
with that round of 65 ahead of Frédéric Lacroix.
Six under 65.
What a way to open up your account.
Yeah, it was.
I'm very pleased with it.
It wasn't easy out there, but I managed to keep the ball in play for most
of the round and roll some good putts.
Talk me through that eagle in the first to open up your back nine.
Yeah, I hit probably a little too aggressive tee shot there.
It was a bit further left than I wanted it to, but obviously it's quite
wide on that hole.
Hit a five iron in.
To be fair, I wasn't too happy about it.
I felt like I left it right, but the wind kind of moved it back
into the green.
It was a good six-foot straight putt.
I know how much it means to you to be playing at home this week.
How do you feel that makes an almost positive impact to your performances,
having that extra support around you?
I really enjoy it.
I thought the support was quite good for a Thursday morning,
but I always enjoy playing at home.
Only 45 minutes down the road.
That must make a difference.
It does.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to going home and having a nice dinner
and sleeping in my own bed tonight.
And strategy for tomorrow, especially when the wind starts to pick up even more?
I guess I'm just going to try as much as we can to keep the ball in play.
There's probably going to be some good chances out there,
but mostly I think trying to keep the high numbers away from the scorecard.
Best of luck and enjoy the short journey home.
Thank you.
