My participation this year in the competition in the historical park in Nelfi Trilski
is related to what I do, what I draw.
My desire to contribute to the ideas that the park itself has.
Last year I participated with a picture that ultimately remained in the permanent exhibition of the park.
But the interesting thing was that the picture aroused interest not only in Bulgaria,
but thanks to modern communications, it was noticed by the Bulgarian club Rodina in Australia, Sydney.
On May 24, they published a copy of the meeting of the Bulgarians and all Bulgarian writers.
Therefore, the participation of all those who presented their works at the next exhibition
gave me a chance for them to reveal themselves as artists, as artists in front of a very wide audience
and in this way to popularize the very idea of what is done here.
The theme of this year's competition is related to one of the sources for maintaining the Bulgarian spirituality.
This is Orthodoxy.
The defenders and supporters of Orthodoxy are not only the people, not only the state,
but we are as a whole a community that extends beyond the borders of Bulgaria.
For Bulgaria, Orthodoxy really played a very important role
for the Bulgarian spirit to be preserved, to come to life and to reach our days.
This theme gives us the opportunity to look at our attitude to faith, to spirituality,
to be able to realize how important it is for us to be united in one faith,
in one idea and in one aspiration to preserve what we are.
What I would like to say with my painting
is that despite the fact that in the years of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom
there has been a transformation in connection with the Catholic Church,
moving away from the orthodox sense of Christianity that existed before that,
it is rather a way to feed ourselves, to create our own church,
to preserve our own state and, in no case is it a betrayal,
but on the contrary, a skill of Tsar Kaloyan to restore the Bulgarian statehood.
This is exactly what I have tried to recreate in the painting that we present this year at the exhibition.
For me it is a very good opportunity, not only that I present myself as an author,
but that I can also meet the audience outside the competition itself.
I would like a lot of people to come to the exhibition itself,
to be involved in the ideas in which many of my colleagues have already joined
and in some way to feel exactly what I wanted to say and what the other authors are trying to show.
