Many people think that planting a tree is very easy, but in fact, especially on such a large scale as we are doing it, it is a very difficult procedure. Hello, my name is Ragir Argirov and I am the head of the Zelenitelkam Historical Park. I have been in this position for a year, and for this year one of the goals we have achieved is to plant thousands of trees in the territory of the Vetrino municipality. With the farmers in the Vetrino municipality, in the small settlements, we constantly keep in touch, and when they need a tree or want to plant it somewhere, we help them. An example of this is the village Gabarnitsa, and we managed to react by planting more than a thousand trees on the territory of the village a few months ago. There are about 15 people in the greening team, as the maintenance and planting of trees is just one part of our work. We are also responsible for the construction of new parks and spaces, for the maintenance of the already created parks and spaces, and in general for everything related to greening. One of the people who consults us the most about the trees is Galja Vasiljeva. This is a Bulgarian woman who has been living in the Netherlands for over 20 years and has her own greenhouse. It all started with the order. In the last few months, three trucks came from the Netherlands. This whole thing is a lot of work, in terms of organization, transportation, the organization of drivers, deliveries, and so on. When it's too hot, when summer comes, we can't take the trees like that, because the distance from the Netherlands to Bulgaria is five days by truck, and during this period the trees would dry out. After the trees arrive, the next step is to spread them out and store them in a suitable place. This place must have specific conditions, the trees must be connected, so that when there is wind, they do not fall. They must be constantly monitored whether they have good humidity, whether they need to be watered when the time comes for planting. The plan, which tree, where exactly to plant, we consult with the landscape architects so that the tree can be placed in the right place, in suitable conditions, and be as beautiful as possible for the environment. If the holes for these trees need to be dug by hand, it would take a lot of time. That's why we use the services of Bagir. Each tree must have a stake to hold it in the stormy winds. The stake must also be placed in the right place so that the tree does not break and does not get stuck in the stake because in this way the tree is injured, like a person when he has a wound somewhere. Infections can occur through it, and other bacteria can enter. Until June 22 every year, the crown grows on the tree, and after June 22, it begins to prepare for winter and roots down. And there are growths on the tree itself, which after June 22 must constantly pass through each tree and they must be removed so that the tree can prepare for winter and root well. Different types are placed at different distances, but for us most trees are such that we put them between 8 and 10 meters depending on the tree. We plan their future when the trees themselves grow so that they do not interfere in any way. We use machinery, tractors and cisterns so that we can water when it is the right time to water. The scale with the trees has become so large that we are already thinking about how to optimize the process. Here at the Historical Park we will soon build a watering system through which we will be able to water all the trees only with one tap that opens. Trees are useful in many ways. They give oxygen, also keep moisture, also the grass. As you can see, when there are no trees around, the grass, especially in the summer, burns. We make various initiatives related to trees. One of our main goals is to inspire children to love nature and trees. Each tree can be purchased and can be named by a close person and then we take care of the tree itself. Just like the old saying that says that a person did not live in vain if he planted a tree, built a house and took care of a child.
