Hello.
From the memory of Chingu, I welcome you.
A window on traditional Chinese culture,
ancient stories and their profound wisdom
to offer inspiration to the young and the old.
An invitation for a journey towards authenticity,
goodness and tolerance.
History of the quest for beauty.
Getting out of the cage.
Bodhidharma is the disciple of Shakyamuni
of the 28th generation.
It was very difficult for him,
when he came to China,
to spread the fa of Shakyamuni to save people.
People did not believe in his fa of Buddha.
One day he was walking,
Bodhidharma heard a cage parakeet calling him.
Ah, from the West, from the West.
Please sir, free me from this cage.
Bodhidharma looked at the parakeet and said,
Get out of the cage, get out of the cage.
Close your eyes, stretch your legs
and hold your breath.
Do it and you will get out of the cage.
The parakeet did what he was asked.
When the owner of the parakeet returned,
he wondered how his parakeet was dead.
It seemed that the parakeet had just died,
because his body was still warm.
He took the parakeet out of his cage
and placed it on the grass.
This story reveals a principle to practitioners.
If you want to leave the cage,
that is, the three worlds,
it is necessary to do these three things.
Close your eyes.
Do not let yourself be overwhelmed
by false impressions in this world.
Do not look outside,
but rather inside yourself.
Seek within yourself.
Thicken your legs.
Stop rushing to the pursuit of
covetousness and personal advantages.
Abandon the seven emotions and the six desires.
Hold your breath.
Do not let anger arise.
It is not complaining or hating.
Achieving the criterion of cultivating speech
is effectively closing the door to hell.
Second part.
Swallow teeth.
One day, a Buddhist monk named Chen Guang
made a rosary whirl in his hand
while preaching to a crowd.
Bodhidharma had also come
to this Dharma preaching site.
After listening to him,
Bodhidharma said to Chen Guang,
Chen Guang, furious,
raised his left hand
and crushed his rosary,
an iron rosary,
on Bodhidharma's face.
Bodhidharma lowered his head backwards,
but the rosary had hit his teeth,
tearing off two front teeth.
Bodhidharma knew that
if he spat his teeth out on the ground,
a serious dryness of three years would occur,
affecting the entire region
and those around it in a radius of 100 km.
In order to prevent this disaster from occurring,
the only thing he could do
was swallow his teeth.
Third part.
Cut off the left arm while looking for the Buddha's face.
One night,
Chen Guang saw two ghosts
from the underground world
approaching him.
They were waving a card
indicating the time of his death.
Chen Guang asked the ghost,
I have been cultivating Buddhism
with devotion for many years,
but I still cannot escape
life and death.
Is there a Dharma of Buddha
that frees from life and death
in the world?
A ghost thought about it and said,
Yes, the man you attacked
with your rosary,
he has the Dharma of Buddha
that frees from life and death.
And so that's why
Chen Guang
looked for Bodhidharma.
Chen Guang found Bodhidharma
with a lot of difficulty.
He knelt outside his cave
and begged Bodhidharma
to teach him
the Dharma of Buddha.
Bodhidharma replied
that the time had not yet come.
It is only when the red snow
falls from the sky
that the moment will come.
One day, during a heavy
snowstorm,
Chen Guang cut off his left arm
with a knife
and immediately the white
surrounding snow turned red.
At that time,
Bodhidharma officially accepted
Chen Guang as a disciple.
Chen Guang had created
a karma of sin
by attacking Bodhidharma
with his rosary,
but thanks to his sincere regret,
his karma had been greatly lightened.
But in the end,
he still had to cut off his arm
to pay off his debt.
Such was the law of heaven.
From the memory of Jingo,
