Hi guys, welcome back into the Drum Central YouTube channel. My name is Dave Major as always
and we're here with another lick of the week. So today I'm going to show you a little offbeat groove
with a displaced snare drum that I really like and it's using a really common thing,
a right left kick load. So grab the pdf it's in the description below and we'll get started.
So this groove is 16th note bass so that is 1 e and a 2 e and a 3 e and a 4 e and a
1 e. We are going to play the first four notes and we're going to learn the next notes and then
the next chunk and then round it off. So the first four notes and this is the offbeat part
is we start with a single kick drum, so no crash no hi-hat so then we're going to have
kick right left so that's hi-hat ghosted snare drum followed by an accented snare drum. We're
just going to shift that back usually it's on two and back we're going to go to the a of one
so that sounds like this. Then we're going to have left right now that right is that so that left is
two and then e then we're going to have into our three beat phrase so it's going to be e and a
three e and a four e and right right ah from the e of two we're going to play three right
so that's going to sound like this that's the whole thing now the right left kick
part of the sort of center of the groove totally move that around the drums you don't always have
to play it um right hand on the hi-hat left hand snare drum it could be right left up in the hi-hat
we could alternate we could switch that might be saucy all those different options are there
now let's try that whole groove nice and slow it's 65
and now it's much faster 85
and finally full tempo 105 as you can see that right hand moves really nicely around the drums
if you've got more drums maybe some cymbals you can start experimenting around that
cheeky cowbell might sound quite nice as well this is it at 105
so there we have our little offbeat linear-y kind of groove it's kind of stuff i've been
experimenting around with as always that single bass drum it could become a left foot totally
cool like i said cowbells are really nice stackers splashes get creative if you dug this lesson
