Hey guys, welcome to the vlog.
As you can tell from the intro of this video, I got pretty messed up.
I had a terrible accident.
I had to get rushed to the hospital.
I was setting up to do my first ever attempt to backflip a motorcycle and land it to dirt.
This is that story.
Okay, it's time to get this show on the road.
About a year ago, I tried this for the very first time.
Let's just say it didn't go well.
I did the one thing they said not to do.
I jumped off the bike and the track to me and hit me on the head.
I've done more training.
I'm a better rider now and I'm going to try it again.
If I can land it to water, then we're going to go take it out to the backyard
and try to land it to dirt to be the first YouTuber ever to land a backflip on a dirt bike.
I'm just going to kind of start visualizing the run-up.
Get the bike warmed up and make sure it's in the right gear.
I'm just feeling it out.
Yikes.
He's got this.
I don't want to do that run-up.
Hey big boy, what do you think?
Have I got it?
I think you got it, but I am nervous for you.
Okay, we'll just be safe.
I don't want you to get hurt like you're standing here just like, just do it.
You're like a little superhero right now.
I really just want to make sure I don't do exactly what I did last time.
Let go.
I really do need to commit to the bit.
Trust the process.
Trust the training.
And just make this happen.
If I can get this done, then we can definitely go to dirt and just do the exact same thing.
Helmet cam, let's lock in and let's do this thing.
No turning back now.
Big dreams can be scary.
Really scary.
Okay, here we go.
Camera's rolling.
He's focused.
He is focused right now.
My heart's racing right now.
I'm actually really nervous.
Here we go.
I'm so nervous.
Come on, big boy.
Three, two, one.
Yeah!
Did not get a rotation.
Oh boy.
Oh man.
That was crazy.
I'm so disappointed that this was a fail because every time I jump the bike into the water,
there's a whole process.
I need to swim underwater and find the bike first so I can tie a rope so we can pull it
out of the water.
Then I need to get all of the water out of the engine of this bike.
So we got to load this thing up, clean it, take it down to RAR Garage where Matt can
work his magic to get all the water out of this thing so we can get it running for the
next attempt.
Yeah, oil's not supposed to be that color.
All right, so it looks like the carb is dirty again.
So we're going to pop it off real fast, clean it out, and then he's going to be good to
go for attempt number two.
I dried off.
I changed.
I reviewed the footage.
I'm getting mentally ready for the next attempt.
So I'm heading down to the garage, check in with Matt, and see how the bike is going.
Hopefully it's all good and we can get it running again.
Carburetor's all cleaned out, put back in.
There was a little bit of gunk in it.
So now hopefully it'll run.
We got the bike running, which means the pressure's back on me for attempt number two.
It is now day two and we got hit by a huge storm last night, which makes the conditions
a lot more wet, a lot more sloppy, and a lot more dangerous.
My socks are getting wet.
We determined it's just too wet, too sloppy.
Even trying to lay some tarps down, it's just not going to work.
So we're moving the location of the jump, which of course adds an entirely new variable
to the backflip because things might feel a little different.
It might feel different, all these things.
So when you're learning a new skill, you definitely don't want to be changing all this
stuff.
But because of weather, we're going to have to move it to this side where it's nice and
dry and we're about to send my second and hopefully final attempt in just a few minutes.
It's time.
This is the part where I get real nervous.
Everything's still super wet from yesterday.
I think he's absolutely going to nail it.
We've set the ramp up so much better this time.
He's been practicing.
He's got it for sure.
I think it's going to be perfect.
First try.
He's going to lean back.
He's going to pull hard.
He's going to look.
He's going to land on the water.
Tire's down.
Yeah, it looks good.
I'm feeling like I'm going to do that.
Yeah, it looks great.
It's more of a back than it is a down.
I think he got it first go.
Get it.
Straight up.
That was crazy.
I got scared.
Oh, it's freezing over here.
I don't know why I didn't pull.
As soon as I hit the ramp, I immediately knew something did not feel right.
I could not commit to the backflip.
I did not feel like I had enough rotation.
As soon as I flew through the air, I just bailed landing in the water and I was so frustrated.
And I'm starting to think I am going to fail.
I'll show you the clip, but you pulled.
Everything looked great right until you stopped rotating.
Like you're back, you're looking up.
And then as soon as your bike left the face, you look forward and it just stopped everything.
But up until that, up the ramp, it looked awesome.
Just committing.
Let me show you the playback real quick.
All right, Carter.
If you do it and do the full backflip, I'll let you kiss my mom.
He has to kiss Mrs. Prunty.
Oh my God.
I know that you still love her.
I know you still have feelings for her.
I felt like I didn't pull the air filter out of it.
She's struggling.
So I believe this is the third attempt flipping the dirt bike and I'm pretty nervous.
I do think Carter can do it, but he's just got to get over that mental barrier that he has.
I believe in him.
He's going to eat it.
I hope Carter can completely do the backflip because last time he was so far away from it.
And hopefully it doesn't get hurt.
Here comes something.
Yes, that's full throttle.
Here we go, here we go.
Yeah!
I finally did a backflip on a dirt bike.
This is a huge milestone for me, which means the next step, I can start training to go to dirt.
Over the last six months, me and Matt got to work building the dream motocross track
right here in the backyard of the TMR house.
This was no easy feat.
We needed huge equipment.
I drove the excavator and Matt drove the dump truck.
To get the dirt we needed, we went to the front pond at the house
and first we drained all the water out of it.
The more we dig it out, it just kind of sloshes right back in like a liquid.
This revealed years of runoff and slop that we can dig out and use for jumps.
Scoop by scoop, I dug this pond out.
I loaded Matt up in the dump truck where he can then haul it all the way across the property
to the backyard of the TMR house.
This is where we decided to dump all of the dirt that we can collect.
You guys, it's going to be a few seconds for us.
It's going to be hours until sunset.
It takes about 15 scoops to fill up the dump truck
and about 200 dump truck trips to the backyard
and we finally have enough dirt there where we can start shaping our motocross track.
Today, we are going to be building a new dirt bike jump.
So we decided where we want to put it.
We're going to remove the takeoff here, make that a nice sheer cut, kind of like that.
Well, let's see what Alex says.
Here goes Matt.
Feels good?
I train myself from small jumps to medium jumps to big jumps,
but riding a dirt bike isn't super safe and accidents do happen
and I had my fair share of crashes and spills.
Luckily, nothing too crazy where I couldn't get back up and keep going.
After months of training and getting all these reps in on various jumps,
I feel like I'm ready to finally hit the giant metal ramp to dirt.
I think I'm ready to try it.
I've seen everyone else do it.
It's gonna be my first time hitting this ramp to dirt.
I'm gonna, I got it.
Here we go.
Oh, I flew on that.
I launched.
Oh, that felt so good.
I like flew in the air.
The landing is definitely like, could be steeper to like, you could jump bigger,
but that was so fun.
Everything up to this point has gone quite smoothly,
but what's about to happen next was something I wasn't quite prepared for.
All right, guys, well, I think it's time.
It's time to be the first YouTuber to do a backflip on a dirt bike
and officially land it to dirt to make it count.
I'm definitely putting my pads on for this one.
If something goes wrong, I want to have all the protection I can
to make sure I can walk it off.
And if there is a chance for another attempt, I will.
But otherwise, I just got to do everything I've been practicing.
All my training is leading up to this moment right now.
Suiting up for the backflip.
Here we go.
This is it.
I'm ready.
You ready?
First backflip to dirt, man.
Here we go.
Oh, is that fast enough?
Oh, s***.
Carter!
All righty, so we're going to have to get you onto the stretcher here.
We're going to get you in the ambulance.
Carter, just stay calm.
We're going to get you to the hospital.
We'll be right behind you.
Grace and I are going to hop in the car, go right behind you.
