HIGHLIGHTS | VfL Wolfsburg vs. Olympique Lyonnais - UEFA Women's Champions League 24-25

Lyon secured a hat-trick of their titles against Wolfsburg, three of their eight. They were beaten 2-0 by Barcelona in last year's final, and the way they started the season has been ominous to say the least. Lindsay Horan in fine form already this season, five in four games. Captain Fantastic. Lyon have dominated the early stages, and it's a dominant header from their legendary skipper. She persisted, she stayed up there after that corner. Froome's had no chance. Lyon do a pretty good job of clearing. However, Brandt goes down. Diani's been nullified somewhat. Now she's conceded potentially a dangerous free kick. A quartet of players stood over it. Lapwijn, Wilms, Pott and Hoots. Who's going to disappear first? Pott looks like she's stepping away. Now she's back. However, does Lynn Wilms fancy the strike? Yes, she does. It wasn't a bad one either. Nearly caught Endler by surprise. It was well struck. I think she had it covered. Lyon take the throw quickly. Diani links up with Carpenter. Perhaps it was a little bit too swift. Terrible ball. Chuinga down for Horan. This could be a gift, but the flag goes up. Linzer got that all wrong. Chuinga controlled it down. Sophie Savava gets away from Hendrik. Won't force the corner. De Mone's in. Penalty kick. Quick as a flash. Melchi De Mone caught out Janina Minga. She thought she had time. She most certainly didn't. Hoots and De Mone clearly having a disagreement. De Mone feels she's being impeded. Test of composure. Horan's been made to wait. Steps up. Oh, that is so cool. Lindsay Horan has started the season on fire. It's a two goal lead for Lyon. They have been by far and away the better side. And Lindsay Horan has her sixth goal already. Passes it home. Froome's went the wrong way. De Mone wasn't quite ready to receive. Carpenter took it off her. Eguerola attempted the flick from De Mone. It comes back to her. Sent through to Diani. Diani crosses it in. Chuinga. It's cleared only as far as Marasan. Off Vilms. Chuinga's cross. Horan impeded the goalkeeper Froome's. Chuinga was lurking. It's a poor clearance from Vilms. She then gets in the way of Marasan's shot. Through ball now to De Mone. Chuinga couldn't finish. It's unselfish from Melchi De Mone. She could have gone for goal herself. It could have been three. It's a lovely pass. De Mone timed a run. And the cross not quite in tandem with the run. Enderman. Vilms. Enderman with a run at Survivor. And she gets away from her. Pulls it back. Latvine's shot blocked. It's not gathered by Endler. Berenstain and Enderman making life awkward. Endler's had little to do. That's something she got wrong. Well it was very difficult for the fact there were so many shirts back. Sent through from Chuinga to De Mone. Look at Carpenter go. De Mone's going to strike. Beaten away. Dionne. Fearsome on the break. De Mone went for the curl up. Dionne then ran in. Jonstad's here. Still she goes. She gets the strike off. Well she can leave tonight with her head held high because already she's forcing issues. Probably should have laid it off to Enderman but she is at least willing to have a go. De Mone looking to add some gloss. Van der Donk supports. She's free. Surely it's going to be three. Poor first touch. De Mone across. Once she realised she just had to try and strike it. It's more German goodness for Lyon and it's more French frustration for Wolfsburg. Early goals in each half. The difference between the dominant force of French football and Wolfsburg who are looking to get back to that.
