If you're looking for vegan food in Amsterdam, this video is for you.
Hey there food lovers! Welcome back to TJ & B Traveling. Today we are taking you on a
tasty journey through Amsterdam's vegan scene. Whether you are a committed vegan,
trying to eat more plant-based or just curious about vegan cuisine,
this tour has something for everyone. Let's go!
So we are at Soyo Vegan Cafe. We are so excited because look at this,
this food looks so good and has more to come. And look, this looks so good!
Is that bun meat? No, it's just a kimchi with tempeh and sourdough bread.
And here we go, the Bali bowl, which is tempeh salad.
Look at this plate. Udon noodles meatballs, vegan meatballs. This is the vegan ribs.
I'm so hungry. Yeah, I'm very hungry. Get a bite of one of these things at least though.
The ribs you've been looking forward to the most, right? Look at these ribs.
It's so good. And a little bit of salad. This food, just this whole place looks like amazing
food. Yeah? Amsterdam definitely has amazing food and this has got to be no exception, right?
Yeah. So which one are you enjoying the most? I think the ribs are my favorite.
And this is my second favorite, which is the creamy udon noodles. It's really,
really good. It looks like amazing. And then the Bali bowl salad. It's so fresh. I love this.
This is also very good, yeah. Everything is so good.
So we just arrived at St. John's. This is a very nice vegan bakery that we found here
in Amsterdam. Apparently it's very trendy and has delicious stuff. So we had to come because
it's not always that we can find vegan bakeries. And the nice thing about this bakery is because
they have one in front of each other. It's the same place, but one serves more like sandwiches
and one is just proper pastry and stuff like that. So we're going to go and check it out,
both of them and see which one appealed the best. But we've just eaten lunch, so we want
the pastries, right? Yeah, we want just the pastries. And also the pastries are like famous
already. And people didn't even know that they were plant-based or vegan. So that's really cool.
And as you can see, like normally they must have lines outside and stuff. That's how popular it can
be. We are just looking for a pastry and a coffee. Yeah, that's good. The fact that it's really
popular and people didn't even know it was vegan. So let's go to the other one. Maybe they should
have kept it a secret the whole time and just never told anyone. I know because if they did
that, then we wouldn't have gone there. So while we got here, it was the coffee. I was looking for
the pistachio one, but apparently it's seasonal. So I don't really know which flavor it is, I didn't
ask. Yeah, you said it was our one, but now it's broken open. We've got berries, jam. It's very
sticky. Oh, crunchy. Like a crunchy croissant with red berries in the middle. Delicious.
And then double baked brioche with pear and something. And I've completely spaced on the
name of it, but it looked really good. The woman there recommended it. We'll put the name next to
it. Let's see here. Very good. Interesting, what is it? It's like a French toast. Yeah,
but also more like a, not really crunchy like a pastry, but soft. It's very good.
Look at all these options. Look at all them. Good. Put that camera down.
So good. You can start eating otherwise I'm not going to eat it.
It was absolutely delicious. We haven't had specific vegan sushi in a long time.
Also, I'm not really full now. You know how with sushi you can be like not full,
not full and all of a sudden you're just way too full because it's not a filling
food. I'm eyeing up a dessert and coffee over there.
So how's the empanada? Picked up a vegan lentil empanada. Very good.
There's loads of Argentinians here in Amsterdam. Have you noticed that? Yeah.
Well normally it's the Argentinian steakhouses, but they've got empanadas instead. Good. Pretty
happy with that. So we ended up at Margot's because we wanted a coffee and of course we
then we had to get another pastry. This is so good. Chocolate. Boom. So we're here now at
which is I'm pretty sure coffee and cake in Dutch. It's a fully vegan cafe, right? So we're
excited to get stuck into this. So we've got a bit of a brunch going on, which we'll start
with vegan scone. Yeah, that's huge. And a vegan croissant. That's delicious. Yeah,
delicious tomato latte. All the bakery stuff, the cakes and et cetera are all made fresh,
all at the counter, which looks delicious. And now this, let's get stuck in.
Look at this. We just got the frittata sandwich and TJ got
tofu sandwich and this looks delicious. Take a bite.
Oh, good bread.
This is very good. Chickpea frittata. It's so tasty. Oh yeah? Excellent. Smoked tofu with
cheese. Salad. Pickled. Good. These are great. Approved.
Gone comes a coffee and cake without having coffee and cake. We're starting to get good
at vegan chocolate cakes now. This is great. It's not too thick like a lot of vegan cakes can be.
We are at vegan junk food bar, waiting for a seat. This is going to be good.
Amsterdam does junk food really well. So we're about to experience it.
Yes.
Double cheese smash burger. And then this, like a shawarma burger.
This looks so good. One thing that you get a lot in Amsterdam.
Fries. Yeah. They seem to do these really well. Purple garlic. Lots of this vegan shawarma,
must be made with like TVP, soy, and jalapenos.
Look at mine. This looks very good.
Quick update. How is that burger? Amazing. This is really, really good. I've been like
really wanting a fancy burger for a while and this is like perfect. Just by like cheesy. Messy.
With bacon. Nice burger. It's just delicious and the fries are very nice too. It's more beefy than
a lot of the other burgers as well. Very good. And I've gone for a bit to mix it all together.
This is, yeah, great, great success. What a place. Vegan Junkie. There's a load of locations all over
the Netherlands. So definitely get tucked into that if you're interested. Now we're going to
find some dessert. We came for desserts. This looks so good.
So of course we would come here and try this truffle because
it's all I have to do when you're in Amsterdam.
Oh yeah.
For the state of our plates we can say this was a success. State of our plates or faces?
Plates. Yeah. That was very good. Phenomenal. Delicious. Exactly what we needed from a dessert
here in Amsterdam. This is apparently their best seller. Pistachio with rose. It looks so good. I'm
going to try. This is very good. Look at this. I think I'll have this alone. Here we go. This is
like a cardamom twist or something. Look at this. It's already good. Yeah but it's light. It's not
too doughy. It's sweet. It's so sweet. And you just tear off the little twists each time. Amazing.
And it's like buttery but without butter. Or vegan butter. And that wraps up our vegan food
tour in Amsterdam. We hope you've enjoyed this culinary adventure as much as we have.
