A lot of people are curious about
how Tubi will end up looking.
You've left a lot of comments.
So, today, for all of you
we have a little surprise.
Hello everyone, it's Lucy with Campingcarjoa.
Today, I have a cold
so my voice is not so good.
Please understand.
Before we start working
I wanted to talk a little about Tubi.
Tubi still isn't finished.
Using a 3D model
We want to show you
what Tubi will look like.
The design is very simple
but we put a lot of though into her design.
We had several criteria when thinking of the design.
The first thing was the government regulations.
The second was Tubi's size.
The 3rd was the type of camping we would do.
And finally our personal preference.
Tubi is basically broken down into 3 parts.
The bed/dinette.
The second part is the kitchenette.
And the third is a small cabinet.
Let's talk about he biggest part first, the bed/dinette.
You already know my height is 175cm.
So I wanted a big bed.
Originally we wanted a 2 meter bed.
But if we went with that size
The space left for the kitchenette was too tight.
So we had no choice.
Taking into consideration the space for the kitchenette.
The longest bed we could possibly make
ended up being 190cm.
And also the sleeping area
the bed converts to a dinette.
When it's in dinette mode
we need space to move to the side.
So we made the width 110cm.
Also, while we are camping
we wanted to do YouTube work as well.
So the table isn't just for eating.
It's also a space for working.
So we need a desk that easily converts to a bed.
And this is the design we ended up with.
The next part is the kitchen area.
We had a lot of restrictions when designing this part.
One regulation requires that the kitchen count
must be at least .5 square meters.
And another regulations
Requires that it be made of fire resistant material.
1 .5 square meter counter
may not seem like a lot.
But our van is not very big.
So .5 square meters is quite huge for us.
Our original design was only half the required space.
To meet that requirement
meant big changes in or design.
For the kitchen counter
We originally wanted to use wood (waterproofed).
I just like the pretty look of it.
But the regulations don't allow wood.
So we changed to stainless steel.
The final part is the cabinet.
This cabinet is for things we readily need.
Also for the clothes we wear.
There is a lot of room under the seats.
But in bed mode it's hard to access this area.
So we have the cabinet always accessible.
Tubi was designed as a weekend
and short trip camper van.
So we don't need a lot of storage space.
But if Tubi was a long haul touring camper
We would have blocked of this window
And build a taller cabinet.
When we were in New Zealand
The thing we like most
about our camper was the windows.
From inside we had a panoramic view of the scenery.
And with all those windows
it didn't feel at all stuffy.
So now that we are building our own camper
We really didn't want to block off any windows.
So now do you have an idea what she'll look like?
What do you think?
We really want to get your input.
Leave you thoughts in the comments below.
We went over the general plans with you.
But we haven't decided on any details.
The cushion color...
Whether or not to paint the wood...
Nothings been decided yet.
One more thing.
Those that follow us on Instagram already know.
A few days ago
We submitted our camper plans.
And we were approved!
In the next episode
We talk about the process
of getting approval.
How we prepared.
And I'll explain the steps we took.
So please join us for that.
The sun is starting to set.
And we have a lot of work to finish.
So I'll end it here.
See you in the next episode.
Oh, and take care not to catch a cold.
