DIY wardrobe nightmare - did we pass or fail!? | AD

This is an IKEA packed wardrobe we've actually fitted this in a previous video, so go back and Watch it up there pointed out of the camera frame Because we live in a new build it wouldn't fit the IKEA packed as they come so this one is a full unit this One I have to cut down to fit into the gap, so it's pretty snug in there What we need to do today is get a sliding door going across it so that we can hide all of my lovely neatly Hung up clothes behind it and so that you can get content in the mirror That's behind you this mirror here drives me crazy because I always want to take pictures of my outfits and stuff And there's just Joe's wardrobe in the background We're gonna do a sliding door because we've got this door, which is the main door to our bedroom So we can't really do like a pull out It's just gonna be a plain white because obviously a mirror there. We can't have mirror on mirror No, I think that'll be a bit much won't it. It'll just be plain white. Yeah Let's measure it up. Right so Joe's seen some in B&Q. 2.305 So the ones in B&Q will fit. Yeah, they will fit But we'll need to like put a piece of wood at the bottom and the top I think. Right you know when I said I was gonna make Joe write a list Joe your boxes are on the floor here. They're not my boxes. Yes, they are. Why did you leave your knickers there? Disgusting Disgusting. Put your knickers away. Right height 2 3 I'm gonna put 2 3 1 0. Right after further discussions Joe's decided that all he needs to buy is the doors And the sliding track. So let's see how today goes guys because his list consists of doors. And the sliding track If you come home and tell me that we need some other type of screw, some other type of wood, a new paintbrush We're gonna play guess the song. And then other people gonna be like, oh, I'm gonna go to Starbucks. I'm not usually one for pumpkin spice You never have sweet coffee Jesus is it nice spicy spicy. Oh my DIY fail has already started. We haven't even got to the shop yet. We can't actually get a sliding door guys It's not gonna work. It won't work Joe's got drawers that are like bigger than half half of the door the sliding door that I've Chosen in the shop is to 60 centimeter wide doors So if they're both pulled over it's only gonna leave 60 centimeters on one side and the door the drawers are 75 I'm gonna be optimistic. I'm gonna get a trolley Manifest the fact that we actually are gonna get something. Well, it fits through so they need to change that Bollard system Moment of truth if we can't get out of this Right, we've made it to the sliding door section not that we can buy a sliding door Yeah, but we can't This is a nightmare, this is a DIY nightmare, so we're gonna build our own doors guys This is this is gonna be the most interesting DIY we've ever done to be honest Because we haven't got a clue what we're doing In my bedroom at home when I used to live with my parents my dad's done this exact same thing So I've been trying to phone him but he's not answering Where are we heading to now? Right we need to get hinges and door handles Yeah, this day has gone from like the easiest job. Well, it was never gonna be easy but to the hardest job ever Can someone tell me why these are named after toilet Situations Flush hinge. This is what I call dangerous driving. Oh my god guys This is not okay Joe, you know, we're gonna get pulled over right so plan of action We're gonna build our own doors out of MDF Which would basically Have to open like that because there is literally no other way that we can make this work Had them cut to size in B&K and we're gonna paint them now white Does anyone else think it's weird that Bethan is painting in those Nice pair of shoes and you're just painting in them, right? so with the majority of the painting done just letting the Inside of the doors dry. I'm gonna go and get the frame on the wall. So we've got the laser level back out and This is the frame that's going to go where we're going to fix the door to I wanted to just make sure that the doors Fit, so I'm going to screw it in first and then I've got some grab adhesive which will Afterwards once out once I've checked that it fits then I'll be able to just adhesive it on and then screw it back in Oh Guys frames in and you're gonna be able to use that whole top space as well Yeah We're just like, you know, I mean that we've got loads of stuff under the bed that's just like round in there Yeah, whereas we can just like slide boxes. I wonder if them doors are dry yet It's a big black cloud coming over Right, we've got it in that just depends whether it fits right, right? So as you can see the wall isn't flush Same as everyone in this house to be honest There's a big gap here, which is slight issue and then he realized he should have paid the new builders 1,800 pound to build a wardrobe It's a shame cuz yeah, she looks quite good I'd literally still like coming on my head I think it does Does it look at that? Yeah, literally just perfect. Oh, yeah Fair play TJ you got that Oh, that's a horrible sound I hate that One hinge two hinge Three hinge right guys. We've got the doors on. Yeah, but we've come across another problem Well, yeah, the good thing is and you'll probably be surprised They do actually They do shot and you can't see too many gaps. It needs a slight bit of sanding down, but That's fine. However, it doesn't actually show up. We need to chisel out the Section where the hinge goes and she's meant to be recessed into that So it's like flush with the timber so it allows it to shut so we need to actually chisel We need to chisel out like you can see here I don't know if it's a bit hard to see but we've got them on our main door and they're basically like right flush into It that's a slight issue, but we're gonna do it tomorrow. Well, it looks so much better It does look so much better. Don't look up close. It's our biggest Botched job yet. Yeah, you could say that about all my DIY projects. Don't look too close But it does look good and if you look from here now Obviously, we haven't got the hat. We haven't put the handles on or anything, but look how much neater that looks I mean, you probably have it like that and then in the background You have like the handles and then like my Peter Andre poster Mysterious girl, I wanna get close to you Justin Timberlake on my wall, my favourite. I had him on the ceiling so when I was in bed I could see him We're gonna go and eat something and then we'll see you guys tomorrow Welcome back to day two of getting these wardrobe doors sorted I've been out this morning to get a chisel start chasing in those hinges. So I'm gonna get going with that now and Hopefully in the next hour or so, we're gonna have to closing wardrobe doors So stay about the third stumbling block Guys we earlier on in the video. You'll remember we chose to get these doors because We couldn't get the sliding door because of the drawers Ziba a which is the drawers and the trouser thing so this was a genius idea to make sure that we could have the drawers and the trouser thing until It won't open with the door on and I don't know if I'm gonna be able to get it to Guys honestly at this point we should have just paid the new bird is 1,800 pound Cuz don't wonder. Yeah, this isn't like this is categorically the most awkward space in the house I couldn't believe my eyes last night when you tried to get I was like, how have we not checked that? It's literally like you can see not even a centimeter option one get rid of all of them drawers and That trouser thing and Ikea do something that has like a half and half I'm not sure if they do it on that one. I think they do in 100 Yeah But I don't know if they're doing a bit tight I don't think they do in the 7500 option B is to scrap all of that and just put a rail option C is to Scrap it all I'll go and get the sledgehammer out the shed and we'll just smash the things pieces Yeah, let's just smash it up. We're not through internet Yeah, exactly we actually had a little chat this morning and we don't have the energy today to work out this trouser situation Yeah, so let us know in the comments if you have any solutions down below because that would be really helpful But whatever we do, we do need these doors to work because we need them to close so we're gonna do that today and then the inside will have to just re configure at some point This is reminding me and I don't know if it will anybody else but a physical DT at school DT didn't you used to do like chiseling in DT? Design technology that's it Did you That's why you get it this but that this is what it's reminding me of I think last time I touched one of those things was DT Guys That door is FCUK'd Guys, this is absolutely our biggest DIY fail of this whole channel ever I Feel like normally we can botch things but they look good, but we're botching this and it just doesn't look good What I've done is gone too deep with the chisel I've been too trigger happy chisel happy and you can't reverse it You gotta laugh or you cry I Actually kind of feel bad about this whole scenario now I'm just thinking maybe I should have just let Joe have his clothes on show all the time. So the question is Have we managed to rectify this wardrobe behind us? What's the answer Joe? Well, you can see from behind me This is gonna be our worst DIY today, but We're like 75% of the way there we are I just think I've picked up the wrong hinges Yeah, we love we can learn from our hinge mistake. Yeah, but it's not a bad. It's not bad It's just I can't go to do it now. Basically nice. It's Sunday night We're going for a race at my parents house, and we just need to chill out. Well, we got the handles on What it looks like at the moment and then maybe in a couple weeks we can show you on a vlog that we finished it Handles around just need a little touch up But they look cute It's just that these these hinges are not working as you can see they're like pulling away from the door It's really hard to kind of like film in this room to be fair But basically the doors they don't shut it doesn't work, but we'll get there You've ever done this sort of thing before then hit me up in the comments Let me know which hinges you use because these ones are obviously not not not good I mean luckily they're only like three quid for a pack.
