It is located in Val di Susa, an alpine valley in the western part of Piedmont, west of Turin.
It rises from the Sacra di San Michele, a Romanesque-era Benedictine basilica that overlooks the scenery of the Alpine peaks that enclose the valley.
From this last part the road that runs along the Valico del Moncenisio.
The typically mountainous climate presents long winters, even six months, with very stiff temperatures and often abundant snowfall.
The water from the melting of steel and snow is collected in the Moncenisio dam and feeds an important hydroelectric power station that supplies power to the valley's communities.
Val Cenischia is a suitable place for winter sports, from a walk on the snow with the snowpole to a ski and snowboard station.
The term sled dog means sled dog and defines a sporting activity in which humans and dogs are trained for competitive racing.
Because the Val di Susa is a meeting point between areas where different languages are spoken, the commune of Moncenisio speaks Italian but also another language, French-Provençal.
This place keeps traditions alive and the passage of time is marked by the shadow on the meridian and the ringing of the bells of the church of San Giorgio.
We are in the highest of the Val Cenischia municipalities, as well as one of the smallest in Italy, because it currently has just under 50 inhabitants.
Those who decide to settle here today do so to stay in touch with nature, to know ancient stories handed down by word of mouth or because they have a particular passion for alpine sports, such as rock climbing or the risalita of the ice falls.
