This week we travel to Lyon in France for a bit of city vanlife. It didn't go will in the end.
or people running they have to like change direction and end up straight in front.
Why can't they just like be orderly and stick to one side?
We are currently now in Lyon for a few days just to enjoy a city and I've heard from
somebody I spoke to last week that Lyon is pretty good for Christmas stuff so
we're going to find out and we're going to go on a tram as well.
That'll be fun. That'll be fun. If we can find the stop.
Here we go.
Show me your hair. One second.
Very nice. It's brown. It's golden brown. I've got to go and buy some sellotape.
Thank you for sharing that. And you got to buy wrapping paper.
I'm going to go now because you're boring me. Bye.
The feeling's mutual. Bye bye Gigi.
Doesn't like you. Bye.
Right change of plans. We're about an hour away on foot and about half an hour away on the tram.
We're figuring if we park a bit closer to the centre then we could just take the dogs out for
a bit and then bring them back to the van into the central heating and whatnot. We can go out
again maybe and go get some dinner. A rare occurrence date night. God I hate that term.
Okay so we found a pretty good spot for the van. The only problem is it's up a hill
and we've got quite a walk down apparently many many many many many stairs.
Holy shit. Holy shit. Okay so yeah the stairs certainly have got a bit more serious.
So what have you got? I've got an eye cream. It's my eye cream that I like but I can't wait
for Christmas because I've got some Christmas money. I'll wait until Christmas day to wear it.
So we now have one very happy Charlotte. She's got her eye cream.
We're going to now try and find somewhere we can sit inside and have something warm to drink
because we're a little chilly as are the dogs. They've given up. They decided they were too cold
in pursuit of something hot to drink before my mouth freezes shut. And something to eat as well
I'm bloody starving. Well there's nothing new. We have steamed up. The camera has steamed up.
I think it looks quite nice though. It's a kind of fairy tale. Yeah I quite like it. So yeah at
least we're going to have a coffee and a little bit of cake and these little things can warm up
a little bit as well. And then once we've had this we're going to go to our last Christmas
market of the year. We love Christmas markets. Yeah just forget how cold it is. But anyway
our coffees have now arrived so that's really good. And also carrot cake. A bit of carrot cake.
Which is actually Ami's favourite. Are we going to take a slice back for her? Well we won't probably
see her for a few days so by the time we see her it'll be all... It'll be growing. She'll have a
flat cake. No that probably would bother her. Oh the smell of cheese. Oh that'll drive Ami up the
wall. She hates cheese. I mean just the smell of cheese she runs a mile. Is she even my child?
That was a superb market. That's the best one we've been to yet hasn't it? So we're just going
to go and find something to eat. Don't know what yet. Just going to have a wander around and see
what's around. Let's go. Okay so we've been walking for about half an hour through Lyon.
Can't find a restaurant. Not one that's open. There's cafes, there's places to drink and have
a beer, pubs. Cannot find a restaurant. I've spotted an Indian restaurant on the way in
so I think we might go and see if we can try a lot there. But to be fair we haven't had an
Indian buffet since we left the UK. Indian food no. Non-Indian buffet anyway and it did say Indian
buffet. Okay so just come back to the van. Oh dear. So the actual wing mirror was like that
to try and hide the idea of being broken into. It's a bit of a problem. So they might have had
a little route around in here but not much. I mean my sunglasses are still here. Did the door open?
No the door wasn't open but they smashed that to get to the handle to open up the
the door and then in the back which was the big concern was if they got in the back
and when you look at it here you might think they did get in the back because it's a bit of a mess
but actually you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference and when we're living in the back
all this shit goes in the front. It doesn't look like they managed to get in the back
because when you double click the key to lock it, not once but twice, it stops the button in the
front from opening the back. I didn't know that. Which I think is a saviour because I double clicked it
before I went. Nothing gone park for night to say that this was a dodgy or any break-ins
but it's going to get one now. So yeah just going to have to get a windscreen or a window person out
to come and replace that window or whatever that's going to cost. It's going to be a rather chilly
drive back. Which this is why we came back now to be fair we didn't hang around longer because you
never know. You never know they might come back. But anyway that's the bitch. At least they didn't
smash a window of the actual camper van at the back. That would have sucked large.
14 months living in a van and this is the first time we've had a break-in.
Shit happens you know but they didn't get in the back. So fucked. So just managed to tape it up
hopefully this will last for the journey back. Still haven't eaten. So yeah anyway we're going
to get going and get out of this shithole which is Leon. I mean so many of the park ups here said
they've got break-in break-in. This is the only one that said it didn't have a break-in. And to
people that do this kind of shit they're a bunch of tossers. Further update our headlights aren't
working. So I think we will be staying on this car park tonight. So we're not driving without
headlights. I don't know what's going on. But we're too hungry to care right now. I thought
personally thought it was a revenge attack because they couldn't get into the back of the van.
So I thought they just maliciously damaged our headlights. But probably not. It's just coincidence.
Well I've still got my coat on because I'm still frozen. But I'm full. My stomach is full.
That was probably the best Indian we've had since we've been in France.
Okay well look um we'll see you in the morning. Maybe. Maybe. Good morning. Good morning.
Well it's been an interesting night for me. She slept like a log for me. Woke up in the
middle of the night. Couldn't get back to sleep again. Thinking about the break-in last night
and what I can do to beef up the security of the van. And you know when you get to sleep.
You wake up and something just gets in your head. Obviously we know what that is. But you just can't
stop thinking about it at that point. And it's impossible to get back to sleep. Absolutely
impossible. So I spent literally two hours going over my head. You know security for our van.
Security for our daughter's van. Her security. Stop itching. So yeah it's a real problem. I've
gone over a few things in my head. I know a few improvements I'm going to make. And a few
improvements that I think Amy needs to make. My insurance company is not far short of useless.
Should we touch? Should we say who it is? Well I kind of think in the camper van van life
Adrian's not very good. He flucks it up quite often.
Oh sorry now I've stopped laughing. Yeah so yeah not brilliant. But hey you know
what insurance companies are good I suppose. But thanks for following us. If you've recently
subscribed. If you haven't you know what to do. I hate saying that sort of stuff. But if you want
