Israel's security cabinet has agreed to a ceasefire deal with the terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The Israeli cabinet confirmed that the ceasefire will take effect tonight at 9 p.m eastern.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the length of the ceasefire depends on Hezbollah's
actions going forward. He added that Israel would respond forcefully should there be any
violations. NTD's international correspondent Malcolm Hudson has the story.
And with the Israel Hezbollah ceasefire imminent, President Biden says this would de-escalate
tensions over in another region Gaza. Biden also applauded the governments of Israel and Lebanon
for agreeing to the deal which was orchestrated by the U.S. NTD's Washington correspondent
Jack Bradley has more from the White House. Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a ceasefire
deal proposed by the U.S. Now this is setting the stage for de-escalation in a conflict that
has lasted nearly 14 months. The deal is effective at 4 a.m local time and it's designed to be a
permanent ceasefire. I applaud the crazy decision made by the leaders of Lebanon and Israel to end
the violence. It reminds us that peace is possible. What is left of Hezbollah and other terrorist
organizations will not be allowed, well I emphasize will not be allowed to threaten the security of
Israel again. Biden said in this ceasefire Israeli troops will leave Lebanon and Hezbollah terrorist
infrastructure will not be allowed to be rebuilt. He said that no U.S. troops will be deployed into
southern Lebanon and that this deal is as much for the safety of Israel as it is for the civilians
in Lebanon and in Gaza. Civilians on both sides will soon be able to safely return to their
communities and begin to rebuild their homes, their schools, their farms, their businesses,
and their very lives. This comes after months of bloodshed between Israel and Iran's proxy
terrorist groups. Biden said that this deal brings us closer to a ceasefire in Gaza, one that sees
Hamas lose its power. Earlier in the day while meeting with the G7 leaders in Italy, Secretary
of State Antony Blinken echoed these comments. It can also help us to end the conflict in Gaza.
In particular Hamas will know that it can't count on other fronts opening up in the war. Biden said
that at the same time the U.S. is working to secure a ceasefire deal in Gaza and it remains
to be seen how in less than two months away the Trump administration will pick up these
plans and move forward. Reporting from the White House, Jack Bradley, NTD News.
